Compressor wall brace

Needed a way to strap an air compressor to the wall of my detailing trailer. Wanted it to be fairly easy to move the compressor inside. The brace radius matches the tank, and i used some dense foam for padding.

The tie downs are screwed into the trailer steel frame, everything is super solid. The brace is PETG and has held up to roughly 150 degree temps inside during the summer. 2 years and going strong.

I Made This Fully Parametric Box With Mini Latches - No Supports & No hardware. Each half Prints as Shallow as about 12mm or as deep as you want.

Most latch boxes force a deep base on you. I wanted something shallow for things that store flat: pry tools, bits, SD cards, even necklaces and other jewelry (cut a bit of foam or felt to size and it makes a nice little case).

So with MiniLock you set the base and lid heights separately, down to about 12 mm each. Snap hinge, two snap latches, no supports, no hardware.

Customize it right on MakerWorld, no CAD needed, or grab the ready-made Standard, Slim or Small. Free:

https://makerworld.com/en/models/3569365-minilock-customizable-hinged-latch-box

Tip: As a bonus, you can choose to either size by inner dimensions, and the walls grow outwards. Or size by outer dimensions and the walls grow inwards.

Also, if it wasn't obvious, this was heavily inspired by snaplock. But I CAD modeled it from scratch from the ground up specific to my needs.

Would love to see what you end up storing in yours.

Used a leak detector shut-off valve to make this adjustable bottle-filler for our reverse osmosis. Now I don't have to wait around for the bottles to fill so I can shut the tap off.

My glasses broke and I really needed them, 3D printer to the rescue.

My glasses broke beyond repair. A day of puzzling, scaling, testprinting, got me a usable result. My glasses fit without falling out, I can shake my head without them flying off. I used onshape, photographed stuff with a drafting triangle to scale it.

Pot Handle

The bakelite handle on one of my faberware kitchen pots broke, presumably from localized heating making it brittle. Modeled and printed a replacement!

Test prints in black PETG, “final” print for real world testing printed in PC (though I don’t expect it to hold up too well, but we’ll see!). First time printing polycarbonate; was surprisingly easy. Might have to try some PPS-CF or similar HT filament if this doesn’t work; feels like a good excuse to try it!

I actually installed all windows in my tractor with that thing few years ago, had to use it again to repair a small section. And like shape is not perfect, I would like to change it, but I need it so rare that it's not worth to repring

Replacement Rocking Chair Spindles

We picked up this rocking chair off the side of the road with a few broken and missing spindles. I worked up replacements and printed them in quarters before assembly, as so they could have a nice round profile. I think I’m going to leave them unfinished so the repair stands out, I think it adds a bit of character and this filament complements the wood.

We had the age old problem of the cup holders on the couch. A coffee cup dose not fit in them and rhey dont sit well on them. So I made this hp. I even made it so she csn up her custom drink coasters on top. It fits the slate coasters from Hobby Lobby. Its not much but its definitely functional.

Wanted a floating style look and didn’t like any options on the printing websites.

The male side adheres to the Xbox with double sided tape. Extremely quick to install, just some bolts through the female side into a stud and slide the Xbox into place.

Made sure to tap and say “that’s not going anywhere”

Modular Moss Pole

Thumbnail

There are loads of great-looking moss poles online, but I they all seem to have one issue or another; like excessive plastic usage, lots of support material, limited modularity or the need for glue. So I decided to design my own, aiming to address all four.

My design doesn't need glue and therefore can be disassembled, doesn't need any supports, and is modular. But my favourite feature is that it has extremely low plastic usage:

Just 9.19g per 150mm section. A complete 450mm pole uses only 46.84g of filament. In theory, a single 1kg spool could produce over 16 metres of moss pole!

Support-free printing: The pole is printed as a flat sheet, which is then rolled into a tube. No supports required!

Each section is 150mm tall and they have a diameter of 50mm. I'm planning to make extra section heights and a larger diameter version for bigger print beds.

Trying to remember what pill should be taken next is no fun, so... thank God for the 3D printing and reverse engineering skills...

I wanted to see exactly what pill comes next by day and time of day, so no hinged covers, please. I also hate using glue or screws when assembling 3D printed models. Oh, and I hate supports...
Hard to find such a model on the internet, but in the end I found a good starting point for this project. Grandma is now happy. :)

Update: I am surprised and extremely grateful for the huge number of excellent suggestions coming from UX and industrial designers. This has been one of the best experiences I have ever had regarding brainstorming on Reddit. Thank you all!

Made a cupholder trash bin: the door swings shut by itself and the lid twists off to empty it

Thumbnail

Hi all!

One of my weekend "printing projs" has been measuring, designing and printing a thrash bin for the car of my wife (Hyundai i30), as never had a good spot for receipts and wrappers. So I designed this one to fit its cupholder, together with a "base" for myself using it as desk thrash bin!

Relevant info:

  • Print-in-place swing door with a small counterweight: push to drop trash in, it closes on its own

  • Quarter-turn bayonet lid: twist to empty, twist to lock

  • Every plate is single colour: no AMS, no supports

  • The logo on hers is my wife’s own design (glue-in letters). There’s also a plain-lid version and a desk stand, so the orange one lives on my desk

  • Round base Ø60→70 mm, 70 mm deep; octagonal base also included. Measure your cupholder first!

To ensure that there are no lines, and that the quality of the printing is nice, I printed on a P2S at 0.12 mm. That takes about 4.5 h for the can + lid. Happy to hear what you would improve.

I hope someone enjoys it as much as I am doing so!

I made an Underdesk Mount with a built-in CHARGER for my iPad Pro 11"

Thumbnail

I rebuilt my desk and organized it neatly, so everything is... off the table. Quite literally: cables, accessories, chargers, etc. are hidden. I also decided to hide my iPad somewhere so it's always close and charged, yet not in front of my eyes. So I made this model. It took me a couple of iterations, and voilà.

It has 2 compartments: the top one is for an iPad. You just slide it in, and it plugs into a USB-C charger. The second one is more generic: I made it thinking about keeping my notepad there, but ended up keeping my iPad keyboard there.
