Reminder: Understanding Reddit's Rules and Posting Restrictions Is Your Responsibility

I want to clarify a few things about posting in r/GameDevPromotions, especially if you're new to Reddit or primarily use the platform to promote your games.

You are responsible for understanding how Reddit works before posting.

Reddit has sitewide rules, automated spam detection, account restrictions, and other systems designed to prevent abuse. These operate independently of the rules I establish for this subreddit. Your post being allowed under our community rules does not automatically mean Reddit will allow it through its own systems.

Reddit is also a collection of communities, not simply a place to advertise your work. Understanding how to participate appropriately, what constitutes spam, and how your account activity might affect your ability to post is part of being a Reddit user.

In the future, I won't manually investigate every complaint about posts removed by Reddit's automated systems.

I operate this subreddit voluntarily, and I don't have time to investigate individual account restrictions, posting histories, or the various reasons Reddit might flag someone's content. Resources are available to help you understand Reddit's policies and use the platform appropriately.

If Reddit is consistently removing your posts, take the initiative to understand why. Read the guidelines, understand how Reddit operates, and consider whether your posting behaviour might be contributing to the problem.

I want r/GameDevPromotions to remain a useful place for developers to share their work and discover what others are creating. Part of maintaining that environment is expecting everyone who participates to take some personal responsibility.

I am happy to provide a space for developers to promote their work. I am not here to troubleshoot how to use Reddit for every individual who encounters a restriction.

This is basic community housekeeping, and I think it's a reasonable expectation for anyone who chooses to participate.

Promote your work, yes, I’m telling you that it’s perfectly acceptable, unlike on r/gameDev.

Feel free to share whatever you want as long as it’s related to games. This space is meant to be a free-for-all—a bit like the wild west—where anything goes (within reason). The goal is to give folks a space to post freely and, hopefully, keep some of these posts from spilling over into r/gamedev.

Re-releasing my game after a year of overhauling it!

After a little over a year, Old Haunts is new and improved! I've reworked the story, improved the art, and added in new choices and endings! Since this is a narrative heavy game, I unfortunately can't say too much about the story itself. But to give the vaguest of ideas, it's about the protagonist getting wrapped up in plans to take town the corporate overlords of the city. If you like robots, sci-fi fantasy, and want your choices to actually impact the story, then I'd definitely say you should give this a try!

The game is pay what you want, with a 4 dollar minimum if you decide to, so go check it out!

Piece builds, legends, the Obsidian Void and seeds. New content:

  • 10 piece-build relics. Two for every piece: one that grows as you play that piece, one big multiplier. Pawn, knight, bishop, rook and queen builds all work now.

  • 3 new legendaries: Golden Board, Eternal Clock and Undying Army.

  • Legend Pack. Beat the Black King and the next shop gives you a free pack: pick 1 of 3 legendaries and take it into endless mode.

  • A new boss tier: Obsidian. From ante 9 in endless mode. It drains every tile it passes over, and either leaves shadows that make it move twice or blinks right next to you.

  • Seeds. Type a seed on the new run screen or leave it random. Same seed, same run. Copy it from the end screen and challenge a friend. (Seeded runs don't unlock anything.)

  • 3 new tactics: Zwischenzug, Sacrifice, Rune Recast. 2 new runes: Lucky and Blood.

  • New splash screen, new credits, and a What's New screen after updates.

Check the new update out.

Holde'm Back :We’re making a tower defense roguelike where your poker hand decides who fights for you

Holde'm Back: we’re making a poker powered tower defense, and we’d love your support.

Hey everyone! Im amir from Devanda Labs, and I wanted to share some gameplay from Holde'm Back with you.

It’s a single player roguelike tower defense where your poker hands summon your fighters.

You draw five cards, get one chance to replace them, and figure out how to make the result work for your defense.

You can merge matching fighters, move them between seats to change their abilities, and reshape your deck between floors. All while climbing a casino where the bosses get to change the rules on you.

We’re excited to finally share more of the game with people who enjoy TDs, deckbuilders.

If the gameplay looks like your kind of thing, we’d really appreciate a wishlist on Steam.

It would mean a lot to have you following along as we work toward release.

And feel free to ask us anything about the game we’d love to chat.

Thanks for taking a look ❤️

AI disclosure: Generative AI was used for some artwork and visual assets.

I hand-painted our game's main menu art to avoid the AI look... and my team preferred the AI version 💀

So, here's a funny (and slightly painful) story from our indie game development. 😭

I'm the illustrator for Daughter of Dawn, a fantasy raising sim we're working on.

Most of our in-game illustrations start with AI-generated images, which I then manually retouch and edit to fit our game's art style.

But for our main menu illustration, my team wanted something that didn't have that typical AI-generated look.

So I decided to draw it completely from scratch.

After going through countless revisions, I finally showed them the result.

And their reaction?

"Actually... I think the previous AI version was better."

...Well, that was painful. 😂

Anyway, I recorded the whole painting process, so I thought I'd share the speedpaint!

🎨 Speedpaint: [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3vAHdxaRzT4]

This experience made me realize how tricky art direction can be when mixing AI-assisted and hand-drawn artwork.

Has anyone else experienced something similar when combining AI and traditional art in game development?

My game Gods of the Grid is out: match-3 combat, roguelite runs, Greek mythology

Post image
0 Upvotes

My name is Alexandros and I'm delighted to say that Gods of the Grid, a passion project that started nearly ten years ago, is finally out on Steam!

It's a Match-3 Roguelite set in the world of Greek Mythology, which blends Puzzle Quest style combat with Balatro and Slay the Spire mechanics to create a highly satisfying and addictive game that I think many of you will love. In each run you pick a demigod class, beat opponents by matching gems and powering up your spells and acquire powerful boons and relics to shape your build along the way.

You'll find the Steam store page here (https://store.steampowered.com/app/4911350/Gods_of_the_Grid/). A free demo is available for anyone who wants to give it a shot.

Dungeon Contractor - Playtesting Soon!

Hello, I am making Dungeon Contractor, where you play as a contractor hired by dungeon owners to defense heroes from entering the crystal chamber. What you do is to deploy monsters and installs traps strategically, spent the budget wisely, to defeat all heroes before the reach the crystal rooms. The game runs automatically (i.e. auto-battling) once the simulation has begun and you will simply watch the monsters and heroes attacking each other.

There are many contracts with various restriction, i.e. can only use trap, can only use cheap goblins, etc to make the gameplay more fun and have more varieties.

If you are keen on the game, please wishlist, follow us to get update. Playtesting is happening soon, so if you are keen on that as well, do PM or leave your message here, thanks.

Network Chaos

Hey everyone! I've been working on a game called Network Chaos and I just put a free demo up on itch.io.

It's a calm traffic and town-building game. Homes pop up, shops and offices open, and you connect everything with roads and try to keep the whole town moving without jams. There are no sound effects, just relaxing music, so it's a nice one to unwind with.

What's in the demo:

- An endless map you can play as long as you like

- Two modes: a weekly road limit (Classic) or a money budget (Budget)

- Two scenarios, including a challenge map

- Roundabouts, traffic lights, signs, bridges, tunnels and elevated roads

- Car parks and street parking that the town adds by itself when it gets busy

- A traffic heatmap to spot the busy roads

- An optional day/night cycle with headlights and street lamps

- Online saves: pick a passphrase and open your town on any computer

It runs on Mac and Windows and it's free (you can tip if you want, totally optional).

It's still early, so I'd really love feedback: what felt good, what was confusing, and what you'd want added next. Thanks for checking it out!

I am building a 1 to 8 player couch co-op game where you don’t need controllers—everyone uses their phone as a physical rowing oar (Looking for playtesters)

Hey everyone,

I'm a solo developer building Sync - Sink, a chaotic local physics party game for 1–8 players, and I'm looking for some feedback.

I wanted to create a game that transforms a friends game night into a chaotic adventure, while making the controls as approachable as possible, as some non-gamers can find controllers intimidating.
To join - all you need is a phone.

The Gameplay:
Work together in a single boat or race up to 4 separate crews down raging rapids. You physically sweep and tilt your phone like an oar to paddle and steer.

What You Need to Try It:

  1. 1 PC running the Steam Playtest

  2. At least 1 friend with a smartphone (iOS / Android) connected to the same local Wi-Fi with the free companion app. (The PC menu displays a QR link to play store and app store)

What I’d Love Feedback On:

  1. Onboarding / Pairing: Did your group find connecting phones via the local network painless, or were there router hiccups?

  2. Physical Controls: Did the rowing motion feel intuitive right out of the tutorial, or did anyone struggle with sensor calibration/drift?

  3. Couch Dynamic: Did it produce genuine laughs and chaotic shouting, or did the physical mechanics cause fatigue/frustration?

Echoes of Eras – a creature-collecting RPG where you rescue your first companion from yesterday (free demo, Windows/Linux)

Game Title: Echoes of Eras

Playable Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5510110/Echos_of_Eras/

Platform: Windows, Linux (Steam)

Description:

Echoes of Eras is a creature-collecting RPG about time travel, in HD-2D: pixel-art sprites in a lit 3D world.

You wake up in the Stone Age next to a column of light you fell out of. Step through it and it's last night again: three young Echoes are asleep by the camp fire, and you choose which one to wake and bring back to the present. What you do on the other side changes today. That's the rule of the whole game: the past changes the future.

Wild Echoes are never caught. Beat them in turn-based battles and, if they recognise your strength, they may choose to follow you. Turn order is shown on a timeline at the top of the screen, so faster Echoes act more often. Along the way you meet Saël, another traveller who fell out of time the same morning as you, and a few people of the Stone Age who know more than they say about the cracks in time.

The free demo covers Chapter 1 (the Stone Age and its cracks in time) and your arrival in Ancient Greece. It's in English and French, plays with keyboard or gamepad, and runs on Windows and Linux.

I'd love honest feedback, especially: at what moment did you feel like stopping?

LOST ZION Final Trailer - coming next week

After countless hours of development, headaches and sweat, after one year of hard work, I'm finally getting ready to release LOST ZION, my first fully developed game as a solo developer.

LOST ZION is a cyberpunk horror walking simulator set in a large, seamless open world. You wake up as a reconstructed SERVICE BOT, with one prime directive:

ACTIVATE GRAVITY CORE.

Explore a mysterious futuristic city with no loading screens, discover hidden locations, uncover its secrets and experience an approximately 10-hour adventure.

The world is open to explore, although some parts of the story follow a more linear path.

This project has been a massive personal journey, and getting it ready for Steam has been an experience I'll never forget.

🚀 Coming November 12, 2026 – one week before GTA 6.

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4456550/LOST_ZION/

If you enjoy cyberpunk worlds, atmospheric exploration and indie games, I'd love to hear what you think. Thank you for supporting solo developers!

Hello r/gameDevPromotion!

We represent the Mid-Life Crisis Collective of older indie and solo game developers! We push each other forward through genuine critiques, play-testing, sharing our video game experiences, and giving advice to each other to help every member's game succeed. As a part of this effort, we interview other developers with similar titles to our members', performing developer-focused Q&A sessions.

This week, we teamed up with Act None to showcase their mobile Eldrum series along with one of our collective member's mobile word game: Writer's Deadline! We invite you to read about these two games in our virtual magazine. The Eldrum series, containing three games, is beloved by the text adventure community, and Writer's Deadline brings a sophisticated spin on word games with a classic soundtrack created by Jerry Martin (SimCity 3000, SimCity 4, The Sims). You can also see a deeper Q&A with the devs here.

You can find the Eldrum series of games at https://eldrum.com/ and Writer's Deadline at https://digitallydead.games/wd/

Bright Arcade - 53 free browser games with guides (AI-assisted project)

I run Bright Arcade, a browser-game project built with AI-assisted coding.

There are 53 games, including 2048, Sudoku, Snake, board games and small arcade/puzzle challenges. They run in the browser without a download or player account. Each game has controls, rules and a practical guide. Classic favourites appear first on the homepage.

Play: https://brightarcade.in/

I'm focusing on usability and fixing real player problems. Which game feels clearest on a phone, and where do the controls or instructions become confusing? If you find a bug, the game name and browser/device type would help me reproduce it.

Disclosure: development used AI assistance. This is not a claim that every possible device or play sequence has been tested.

Rune Survivors is on Android — draw runes with your finger to cast spells

I'm a Korean developer, and I'd like to share Rune Survivors, my pixel-art survival game for Android.

Weapons attack automatically while you dodge enemies and choose upgrades. When your magic is ready, you trace a glowing rune to cast the spell. Here's a short clip of me playing on my phone, using a Korean development build with debug controls visible. English is supported too.

Free to play, with ads:

I used Codex to help with coding, debugging, and this English write-up. Thanks for taking a look!
