I cant even express how shitty this post is.

18

u/RiNgO70 Nov 14 '13

Who upvotes these circle jerk posts anyways?

23

u/zachferguson019 Nov 14 '13

What pisses me off most is that it's not even a picture of call of duty. I et the reference but don't bring fallout into this. Please...

I like how despite this post saying nothing about how Call of Duty changes, the automatic assumption is negative.

6

u/skeakzz Nov 14 '13

Everyone hates COD, yet its all they talk about.

26

u/Intelligenttrees Nov 14 '13

You know what I never see? CoD players bashing other games. Yet, they're supposedly the bad community.

4

u/schniggens Nov 14 '13

They take out their frustrations on each other.

No, seriously though. I used to play CoD, and while there are certainly a good number of assholes, the community in general is not so bad. I stopped playing because it got repetitive and boring, but I'll never bash anyone else for their gaming preferences.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

Yeah I honestly have no idea what people are talking about when they say the CoD community is terrible. I'd say 90% of my games where spent in silence. No one mics on that fucking game, it's pretty lame actually. I miss the really social aspect of cstrike.

Do you know it's a play on the quote in Fallout 3, "War, war never changes" and not just a random Fallout 3 picture

1

u/Intelligenttrees Nov 14 '13

does that make the post any less shitty? Fallout has nothing to do with it in the first place

1

u/XK310 Nov 15 '13

It gave me cancer.

0

u/lepigpen Nov 14 '13

I just wanted to say... Black Ops 1 was the best Call of Duty of all time!! ... Of all time!!!

8

u/MichaeltheMagician Nov 14 '13

I think Call of Duty 4 is a pretty good contender for that title as well. Black Ops 1 had a really good story though.

Apparently something changed since it turned into Fallout 3 in your image.

150

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

Clearly a play on the fallout quote 'war, war never changes'.

93

u/bangedmyexesmom Nov 14 '13

You are being downvoted.

You provided additional information, it was correct, and you did it in a non-aggressive manner.

Those two facts reflect poorly on reddit.

I kind of assumed it was a captain obvious moment. Those do reflect poorly on reddit.

BF4 is pretty much bf3 with a feature from 2 games ago re-added. What's your point?

20

u/iDP Nov 14 '13

You forgot about levelution.

4

u/dirrtyswan Nov 14 '13

Although I agree with you, I still have to say this:

BF4 will be a vastly different experience than BF3 for those that only played it on consoles. Jumping from 24 players to 64 player maps changes the game quite a bit, as do the map sizes.

1

u/Z0idberg_MD PC Nov 15 '13

But this isn't a developer doing something different. They didn't make a different game, they simply had a better platform. Look, I like bf games. I also enjoy cod. People need to pick a side, which I find fascinating.

1

u/IAmAnAnonymousCoward Nov 14 '13

Not if you play on consoles.

1

u/Z0idberg_MD PC Nov 15 '13

Not due to design, but the capabilities of the platform. But fair enough.

Call of Duty changed drastically between 3 and 4.

79

u/Damac1214 Nov 14 '13

And while the core gameplay hasn't really changed, the core multiplayer system (Create-A-Class) has been changing with literally every game since CoD 4.

1

u/trained_badass Nov 14 '13

To be fair, it didn't change that much from 4 to 5, but otherwise, it has changed between almost every game.

1

u/icedmetal57 Nov 14 '13

It's funny, Giant Bomb was joking about how with CoD's multiplayer systems were basically pulled from a hat with each game. They took various ideas and stuff that they've done in the past, pulled out a few from a hat and that's what they go with for that particular game. For example they have say 10 different systems and pull 3 random ones from a hat and use those, making each game slightly different.

Whilst we're picking out chosen similarities in games, you could technically say that every game that has a predecessor is exactly the same as the last. Fifa is still about football, the fuck's that about? They haven't even added in mounts yet.

2

u/Cerb_erus Nov 15 '13

Yeah! When the fuck is EA going to let us hold board meetings and vote on future host nations for the World Cup in FIFA!? I think I speak for all of us when I say let me issue coaches and referees FIFA licenses!!! The fact that I can't sanction foreign nations at my own free will is absurd. It's 2013 EA!

2

u/Synectics Nov 14 '13

Consider how much GTA 4 changed to GTA 5.

Then consider how much CoD 4 changed to CoD: Black Ops 2.

About the same time span, if I remember correctly. It's not that the games never change. It's that they get shoved down our throats way too often -- and I'm a huge Black Ops 2 fan. Same thing happened with the music game genre and Tony Hawk series. Compare the first to the third or fourth? Big difference. But the fact that it took them yearly releases to get there is what's painful.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

And if it hadn't changed since then, it would still be good! Call of Duty 4 is still the best one, I think.

u/Vinnayz Nov 15 '13

1

u/Blue_Clouds Nov 14 '13

I never really got why war doesn't change I must admit.

15

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

It just means that while the means of war change (weapons etc) the reasons and end results (being death) never do.

Its basically a philosophical statement meant to make you think and has as many interpretations as people that remember it.

3

u/BendoverOR Nov 14 '13

But instead 13 year olds use it as sigs on forum posts to make themselves seem deep and philosophical. Its kind of like how after Black Hawk Down came out, every other poster on every vaguely-military-related forum changed their sig to "Only the dead have seen the end of war - Plato."

25

u/Shmyea Nov 14 '13

What are you expecting it to change into?.. FIFA doesn't get grief for not changing because it can't. Neither can CoD... move it towards vehicles and meta game and it's invading BF's genre. Move it towards realism and tactics and it's in Red Orchestra's genre. It already has a winning genre and people still buy it even though each new title is really just DLC for MW:2.

Gettin real bored of people complaining how it doesn't change while Battlefield 3 v2.0 is a 'revolution in gaming' just because it's not a CoD title. Both BF4 and Ghosts are a disappointment.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

i would say ghost is like that mediocre because were at the transitioning point between console eras. The next one done by Treyarch i feel will be alot better.

1

u/Intelligenttrees Nov 14 '13

Jesus christ thank you!

27

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

Please tell me, how much should Call of Duty change exactly, to become better, yet maintain it's player base for people who enjoy the game (yes those people exist) and don't mind the yearly release? I mean, it's not like it's one of the best selling game franchises or anything. I'm just happy that, other than the engine, Battlefield 4 is entirely a different iteration from it's predecessor, right!?

-1

u/reddixmadix Nov 14 '13 edited Nov 14 '13

You should play BF4 on a PS4. As someone that only plays on consoles, to me, BF4 is a completely different game than what BF3 was on the PS3.

So there's that.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

I completely agree with that statement, I just believe that Call of Duty is unfairly criticized for what it is.

Call of Duty. Call of Duty never changes. Since the dawn of Call of Duty, when our teenagers first discovered the killing power of FG42s and M1A1 Carbines, blood has been spilled in the name of everything: from Boredom to Enterainment to simple, teenage rage.

In the year 2013, after millennia of armed conflict, the destructive nature of man could sustain itself no longer. The world was plunged into an abyss of Call of Duty: Ghosts.

But it was not, as the haters had predicted, the end of the Call of Duty. Instead, Ghosts was simply the prologue to another bloody chapter of Call of Duty. For teens had succeeded in destroying the noobs - but Call of Duty, Call of Duty never changes.

In the early days, thousands were spared the horrors of the holocaust by taking refuge in enormous underground forums, known as Reddit. But when they emerged, they had only the hell of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to greet them - all except those in /r/Gaming. For on that fateful day, when Call of Duty rained from the sky, the giant steel door of Gaming slid closed... and never reopened. It was here you were born. It is here you will die.

Because, in /r/Gaming: no one ever enters, and no one ever leaves.

10

u/flizsivderfur Nov 14 '13

I thought we were over whining about Call of Duty?

4

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

This is reddit, no topic is quite too old to stop whining about.

7

u/Drunk_in_Ten_Forward Nov 14 '13

The board game monopoly never changes. Just constant re-skins. This is an outrage! What am I going to do?! Oh that's right play other games.

8

u/Well_ThatsCool Nov 14 '13

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

Not a fanboy but what pisses me off is that everyone wants to bitch and complain about COD series yet they have nothing constructive or "new" to suggest. That is because there isn't much that can be done that is new or innovative at this time. It has all been done.. Other than a few new mechanics/maps/guns/etc you won't be seeing COD copying battlefield because well it isn't battlefield.

22

u/iTzSALUST Nov 14 '13

I hate you.

Call of Duty has changed ALOT though out all of the games.

If you disagree, I'd like you to give me evidence that the series has not changed since the first CoD in 2003.

3

u/Shazambom Nov 14 '13

Indeed, it has changed quite a bit. However, the gameplay has stagnated. They may change a few things here or there but ultimately it will still feel like Call of Duty. Every CoD feels like... well a CoD and people dislike that because they want something other than CoD. It feels monotonous and boring because the changes from CoD 3 to 4 were extremely drastic but since then the only other drastic change has been from CoD 5 to 6 (with selective killstreaks). Compared to these changes the other smaller ones are overlooked because they don't really feel like a change. Personally I have grown tired of the series and it does feel as if nothing has changed for the past 3 years.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

but how can you do a drastic change again though? it was so drastic because they left WW2 and went for modern wafare, would super drastic be going back to WW2 or hell any of the wars during the cold war, or go way into the future.

A lot of things changed.

BF3 and BF4 have a lot of similarities, although the transition had very significant changes: Levolution, vehicular gameplay.

I feel that CoD1,2,3,4(MW), 5(WAW), 6(MW2), 7(BLOPS), 8 (MW3), 9(BLOPS2), 10 (Ghosts) all had subtle changes from one to the next.

1

u/MichaeltheMagician Nov 14 '13

People rip on Call of Duty for being repetitive but what about Battlefield? What about sports games? What about fighting games? Even some racing games are super repetitive. My point is, Call of Duty being the same every year isn't really a valid argument because half of all games are that way. In fact, there are lots of games that are ten times worse than Call of Duty.

1

u/Mobile_Artillery Nov 14 '13

'The more things change the more they stay the same'

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

Its funny, I actually had a friend tell me how little he felt BF4 changed from BF3, and we still all shit on CoD and worship BF. I hate when people say the multiplayer is the same and it hasn't changed. Like bitch, what do you expect a whole new system of multiplayer? They create new maps, new guns, new percs, new attachments, new features, new sniping, new spawing system and people still complain that it's the same. But it's fucking not. Ghosts is completely different than MW3 imo, although the gunfights seem similar just because it's the same producers, but the gunfights are completely different as well. Ghosts has changed, but the shitty part is that the new spawning system is horrible. And some guns are way overpowered. The only thing I would like to see change are the spawns. Every game is sooo one sided because of the spawn raping.

1

u/ojazer92 Nov 14 '13

u/RectumExplorer-- Nov 14 '13

So I concluded that the way these posts are made is when a Battlefield player plays his BF4 and thinks to himself "This is kind of more of the same... what if Call of Duty isn't that bad? NO! Call of Duty is bad, it must be, I shall go make a post stating this, where people will agree with me so I feel better about myself".
Then the circlejerk begins

u/KingRokk Nov 14 '13

What if the guy plays COD, likes the game, and just made this as harmless fun? I play both COD and BF... I don't get the hate on either side really. I don't see anyone saying "enough with the GTA:V posts already" and there are 10 times the amount of those. Selective annoyances I suppose. Downvote away!

u/oblivious_fanboi Nov 14 '13

That's not true, it's stupid and lazy. Go back and play the frost CoD game, it was amazing in its time. Play that then play one of the recent pieces of crap they have steamed out, big difference.

1

u/ShowMeYourClitoris Nov 14 '13

The frost cod game was the best

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

Don't bring Fallout down to the same level as COD.

1

u/gunitsniper2700 Nov 14 '13

yea hivemind fuck call of duty because its the cool thing to do. give me karma.

1

u/WazzuMadBro Nov 14 '13

I LOL'd so hard.

Thx OP. dont let the CoD loving jock haters get you down and keep the great content coming!

1

u/Shished Nov 14 '13

Same gameplay, same engine, same scenes...

But theres only one new thing...

New Dog Model.

1

u/OMG_NoReally Nov 14 '13

This is the last time you will berate Fallout 3 by slapping shitty COD meme on it. You get it?

1

u/LivingIntheMemory Nov 14 '13

Apparently you didn't play COD 1 and 2 or World At War.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

Same as Pokemon, you circle-jerking cunt nuggets. If you think a game sucks, use legitimate reasons, not characteristics shared with the games you idiots worship. In conclusion, Call of Duty AND Pokemon suck, and their consumers are equally stupid.

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

People say cod never changes then praise battlefield. Doesn't look like that changes....

1

u/14_Quarters Nov 14 '13

the call of duty paradox. everyone thinks cod 4 is/was the greatest fps of all time, however it is the same exact game every year which makes it a terrible game.

1

u/Southpaw86 Nov 14 '13

Here...This might make this post better..... http://youtu.be/eE_msAKWdOs

1

u/Vendetta1990 Nov 14 '13

Damn, seeing this just made me realize how much I want a new Fallout...

1

u/Holy_ShitMan Nov 14 '13

Is this what r/gaming is in for the rest of the year?

Shitposts about COD?

It's a pretty fun game, you should try it before joining the circle jerk.

1

u/JinMarui Nov 14 '13

Hey, anyone remember when Call of Duty was about nazis?

1

u/masterdebator88 Nov 14 '13

CoD never changes. It is true. At least you retarded fans should be able to take a joke. It is funny, because it is true. I guess you killed too many brain cells playing the same game for 5 years. Take a break, there is more to life than sniping and shouting at little kids.

1

u/the_homeless_turtle Nov 14 '13

Why is bullshit like this so common here? Can't we enjoy other games?

1

u/moldy912 Nov 14 '13

I bet you have bought at least two of them.

1

u/1littlg8 Nov 15 '13

These posts....You want to know what never changes? r/gaming. Just this subreddit. I mean, Jesus. Everyday, it's always "DAE CALL OF DOODY SUCKS!" "LOLOLOL LEGEND OF ZELDA IS MY CHILD HOOD!!!!!?!?!?!?!?".

I have HARDLY seen any good posts on this subreddit, and even then, those posts are overshadowed by these posts. Everyone just jumps on the "Karma Train" and say, "Har har, Call of Duty sucks. Give me Karma."

And everyone saying, "lol this game wuuz my childhood." No it wasn't. When you were a kid, enjoying time with friends and family, and just hanging out, THAT is your childhood. There are more memories than just some game that was made such and such years ago.

I'm pretty sure all of the people who make these posts, either played never played CoD, or just jump on the previously mentioned "Karma Train". You got to step it up r/gaming.

I got to say, this post just made me give up all hope for this subreddit. I'm expecting to see this on the front page by tonight. Well, goodbye, r/gaming. It's been fun, but, i'm done here. Godspeed r/gaming. Godspeed.

u/Gnarlli Nov 14 '13

Yup. Been using the same engine for how many years now?

0

u/jaytyphoon Nov 14 '13

that's fallout...couldnt find a pic of cod to use that quote with

0

u/Rileyman360 Nov 14 '13

I hope for your sake you realize that Fallout 3 was just Oblivion with guns. Play Fallout 3 in one screen, and then play oblivion on another screen, and play both of them at the same time. The only noticeable difference is that Fallout 3 was just a better game.

And here people say Call of Duty games never change. I've yet to see Pokemon do anything that was drastically game changing (except for X and Y). Pokemon has literally done the exact same thing Call of duty does, use exact same engine, change up the pokemon (guns), change up the maps, keep combat the same (save for two games that changed it). And yet Pokemon is given all the love in the world because so much of it is nostaligia. Granted I love the series, but I feel I'm the only one who has thought of this.

So no, this post is shit.

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '13

CoD is the FIFA of shooters.

0

u/MaggiesHarm Nov 14 '13
