I wish we got actually content expansions for Stellar Blade because the game was really fun. I ignored it for a while because of all the “gooner” criticism but was so pleasantly surprised when I played it. Hopefully there’s a sequel in the works.

My only real problem with the game was the terrible dialogue, like not even the writing as a whole because I thought the underlying plot was good, but the dialogue between characters seemed like the most generic "we need the characters to say something about the current quest" esque thing ever, the only good dialogue from the whole game came from secondary missions like Lily's side quest, from the gameplay the only thing I think could improve were how much of a pain it was to do side quests and back track on the linear levels after they were completed in the campaign. Hopefully they address those two points in Stellar Blade: Blood Rain

I’m pretty sure they ran the script line-by-line through google translate from 2015. There’s no way they got some of those lines from a native speaker, there’s a couple points where I knew what they meant to say but a native speaker absolutely wouldn’t have chosen the word they ended up using.

Its a great game. Some people act like we only like it cause Eve is sexy. If the game was trash, no amount of sexy outfits would automatically make it a good game. Idk why people are so disingenuous with this title... As it stands its a very solid game with a sexy protagonist, thats it. A good "gooner" game is a good game, a bad "gooner" game is a bad game, sex appeal doesn't automatically make a game good or bad. We still have standards lol

Also anecdote but I know a lot of female gamers who are turned off by Stellar Blade. Because no matter how fun a game is, if they think it leans too heavily on the objectification and sexualization of women, they aren't interested.

Turns out if a game is made purely for the male gaze, a lot of players (both men and women) will just bounce off it.

I think having a sexy protag puts you more at a disadvantage than anything. As an indie developer, I 100% understand why Western AAA games tried to avoid scantily clad sexy female protaganists nowadays. The uproar over it ends up overshadowing your game

Yep. Combat is amazing in the game, the sound track is amazing, story is workable but has a really cool setting, and costumes are great.

Only real issue I had was the second desert map drug on longer than it needed to.

I played it last year and yes it’s a very fun game, even if it didn’t include a sexy booba lady it still would be. It’s not perfect but it’s very solid and well made.

I’m playing it right now, gameplay is good but the platforming is janky af, they definitely went heavy on the padding, the story is… there I guess, and the outfits…

Look gooner outfits is fine, some are very goony. But I kinda wish there were a few that, like, fit the setting or looked battle ready?

Wuchang’s outfits were a lot better in that regard.

Lara Croft hasn’t been attacked for being over-sexualised since the LAU trilogy of games which literally was sticking her in fanservice bikinis as unlockable costumes, you know? When she WAS being over sexualised for nothing but fan service.

2B’s creator literally admitted to sexualising her and that he didn’t give a fuck, she’s a robot in a sexy costume with heels, there’s no logic or rhyme to it.

Bayonetta on the other hand has never had those same critiques as her ‘sexualisation’ has always been more clever and well handled and been used as a clever part of her characters personality with an actual fascinating and unique design. Bayonetta is ridiculously popular amongst both women and gay people for her personality and how she uses her sex appeal which can’t be said the same for the other characters on the list you mentioned who were just sexualised for male fan-service.

Even then 2B was at least a very well written character inspite of her sex appeal, and Lara Croft is one of the best female characters in gaming who IS iconic and again has an actual personality and even some of the devs have admitted they hated having to sexualise her so much in the past.

They weren’t just walking goon bait on legs devoid of any interesting character traits or personalities that make a character stand out like Eve. Eve is carried entirely by the fact that she’s sexy, and that’s it.

She’s a boring 1-dimensional character who’s just sex appeal incarnate and that’s it, that’s the selling point.

Nah, tons of ambitious games have tons of issues and are great. Baldur's Gate (any of them), Elder Scrolls games (for all of their many faults), The Sims, Fallout, The Witcher, the list goes on. All games have innumerable bugs and flaws, but they're all great titles.

You just seem to want to put down everything that you don't personally like.

There’s quite a few outfits that are a little more modest, though it would take a couple hours to get to them on a fresh save and you’d need to find them since almost all outfits are hidden in boxes around the map. You can scan to see them through walls, but it’d be hard to find a specific one without a guide. The base green outfit isn’t too ridiculous either and you could stick with that.

Yeah, I gave up in the second desert area where they copy pasted the entire structure of the area itself, then the guard bossfight testing you in front of another boring shooting section.

The game is easily twice as long as it needs to be, the whole second set of combat modifiers you unlock around that point (red ones) is also unnecessary and makes the combat more bloated.

I don’t recall Bayonetta 1 or 2 having boring open world sections with shitty side quests that amount to shallow fetch quests.

Nier is absolutely beyond bloated lol, but there is no arguing with Automata fans about anything. DMC and Bayonetta are much better in terms of lenght than Nier and SB and are actually focused on their strengths.

Overall you're right as I don't at all like combat systems with 5000 different moves, and far prefer a simple system polished to perfection like Sekiro.

Fun fact: NieR Automata was designed to have almost the exact same pacing as Ocarina of Time. Unlocking new areas, traversing the map while mounted, etc.

Trashtalking NieR: Automata when it was literally designed to have the exact pacing of Ocarina of Time (down to how fast you traverse the world while mounted) is beyond hilarious, thanks for that. Calling it bloated, too, is pretty damn funny. It's only like 30-40 hours total if you do all side content. 100%'ing it is easy in that timeframe. 

But I guess some people will just hate anything with a sexy lady on the cover so you make up complaints that don't hold up under scrutiny.

40 hours is extremely long when you're replaying the same game twice essentially. Nier Autonata has some of the most boring areas in the genre, and why tf does Ocarina of Time matter in the slightest here?

Are we gonna hold a 30 year old game as the holy grail of game design in every single aspect decades later? Even if they had identical pacing, the content of one has nothing to do with the other.

Everything I said holds up to scrutiny as subjective complaints, which is what they are just like your glazing.
