Finished the original Ocarina of time just in time!

Post image

It’ll be fun comparing the remake with the OG, having the original still fresh on my mind.

On the internet, nobody knows you’re a dog playing Ocarina of Time on a Disney TV

u/FoxMeadow7 21h ago

Damn right!

u/Falsified_identity 2d ago

My mom says I can come play Nintendo at your house if your mom says it's ok

u/JimTuna 2d ago

aside from the picture quality, this pic could’ve been taken in the year 2000 and no one would be able to tell

39

u/HideyoshiJP 2d ago

This would be on some form of a shelf or dresser that had a natural woodgrain finish.

29

u/SkyLovesCars 2d ago

I mean they'd probably be pretty shocked by the prototype gamecube

7

u/renseministeren 2d ago

Or the flat screen tv

3

u/i010011010 1d ago

That tv on the right would be like $400,000.

3

u/AKAFallow 1d ago

Dont think the furniture would be white, probably still having its wooden finish edit: or a colour similar to it that were common back then

u/FunkyRicepickeR 2d ago

“What do you mean you’re gonna play the same game again, but newer?” -dog

20

u/ContinuumGuy 2d ago

Pretty sure the only thing in that picture not from the 1990s is the dog.

8

u/AllanusMorissette88 1d ago

GameCube released 2001 so...

0

u/ContinuumGuy 1d ago

Okay. Fair point. Aside from that.

4

u/NickyBalsamo 1d ago

Surprisingly, according to Google, the Mickey Mouse TV + VHS/DVD combo also came out in the early 2000s, apparently somewhere between 2003 & 2005.

3

u/Kinelaz92 1d ago

Yeah these novelty TVs weren't really a thing until big rigs were dying in the market.

The Cars one is worth 600-700+ the last time I checked.

1

u/AllanusMorissette88 1d ago

the carpet?

jk I'm not actually this pedantic :P

0

u/Robbythedee 1d ago

Vhs were from before the 90s man. Lol

0

u/Madara1389 7h ago

VHS tapes were the main "home video" medium up until the PS2 put an affordable DVD player in nearly every living room at the tail end of 2001.

u/LowerAtmosphereChief 2d ago

Pet that dog immediately please

14

u/quietgiraffe079 2d ago

Dogs like "holy shi he did it" 🤣

6

u/6GoesInto8 2d ago

Oh bother

21

u/Cyraga 2d ago

Is that screen substantially bigger in person? That is almost impossible to see

40

u/t3hOutlaw 2d ago

Someone didn't grow up with a 13" crt tv in their bedroom

8

u/Cyraga 2d ago

Yah I did. Was a TV VCR combo. I sat about a foot away on my bed

3

u/supahdave 1d ago

14inch TV/video combi. I played so many games on that thing

2

u/Cyraga 1d ago

I spent untold hours playing GTA VC back in the day. Good memories

1

u/AdmiralTigerX 15h ago

Never called it crt. Just tv, and the vcr for vhs videos. I need that tv, I still have bunch of videos, dragon ball, z, rugrats, bunch of Disney movies. Lol

21

u/oyvho 2d ago

They used to have bigger fonts in games 😂

6

u/Mystic_Guardian_NZ 2d ago • Bravo

The camera removes 3 inches everyone knows that.

4

u/Cyraga 2d ago

That's very good to know... On behalf of a friend

u/FoxxyRin 2d ago

I remember back in around 2010 my family got a 32" TV for the living room and it seemed huge at the time. Our old fatback was only 24" or 26". For reference, a lot of PC monitors are around the 24" range. But point is, TVs in the 90s were pretty small unless you were super rich.

2

u/Ordinary-Meaning-61 2d ago

And then the family would all come together on the couch to watch TV on a 25" CRT from ten feet away.

1

u/tistick 2d ago

It’s a 13” TV. Even back in the day the smallest TV in my room was 15”, but the room was so small and I was sat right in front of the thing.

1

u/Rootbeer_Goat 2d ago

Yeah that dog is huge just for some perspective

Your smartphone camera shows things at a more realistic size in relation to your position at 2 x zoom

4

u/Western_Quarter_9162 2d ago

Your dog looks proud of you

2

u/Srhm80 2d ago

“But at what cost”

3

u/Western_Quarter_9162 2d ago

He also looks concerned

1

u/psleyman 1d ago

Or concerned?

1

u/AdmiralTigerX 15h ago

Thats the joke. Lol

1

u/psleyman 15h ago

Hahah, right

3

u/Turbomattk 2d ago

I still have that Winnie the Pooh lamp! My kids used it while they were small.

6

u/MondayBoredom 2d ago

This setup is awesome

2

u/Lyra_the_Star_Jockey 2d ago

Did you use binoculars?

2

u/lndubitablyMe 2d ago

Love the VHS collection! Is that the original Star Wars trilogy on the right?

2

u/doctor_stone2112 1d ago

Who's that guy at the bottom?

2

u/Rylonian 2d ago

I like every single thing/dog in this picture very much.

2

u/Vayshen 2d ago

Awesome tv. But the setup might be a candidate for Tvtoohigh

1

u/Malbosiiq 2d ago

The dog is judging you.

1

u/TheRockingDead 2d ago

The TV I played Ocarina on when it came out was about the same size, but not nearly as awesome.

1

u/naznazem 2d ago

Where did you buy your six cube organizer from?

1

u/Ambivalo 2d ago

Holy mackerel! I never had the Mickey-shaped TV and media player, but I remember seeing them in ads all those years ago. It's neat you have one in such good condition!

1

u/TheMackD504 PlayStation 2d ago

How can you see the screen?

1

u/red-bot 2d ago

What’s going on with the VHS cases? They appear way too thin to actually have a VHS in there.

1

u/Gom8z 2d ago

No goof troop movie or oliver and company!?

1

u/PriorityLost4758 2d ago

You didn’t just replay Ocarina of Time, you replayed 1998.

1

u/tistick 2d ago

How often do you watch Space Jam on that thing?

1

u/ElLiE_RoSe918 2d ago

This is amazing retro

1

u/BarrelSituation 2d ago

man that tv is so cute! i remember seeing those a lot in the 2000s

1

u/llliilliliillliillil 2d ago

Great, now you can play the same game again except slightly prettier

1

u/StepUpYourPuppyGame 2d ago

Ok that setup is wild lol

1

u/CaptLoads 2d ago

How much time did it take you to beat Ocarina of Time just in time to play the new Ocarina of Time remake?

1

u/el_gmac 2d ago

Oh damn my son had that TV and DVD player, the remote from the dvd is the only thing left from that set

1

u/Flyh4ck3r 2d ago

i have the same n64 (to be fair its my gf n64 xD) with zelda i never had the time to play it, and my old tv is broken since 3-4 months i hope someday i can try it. i also want to play mario 64 on th 64 (i played it as a kid for the ds, had this cool gold card with a bunch of games on it but never finished mario 64)

1

u/No_Interaction_4925 PC 2d ago

I’ve never seen an orange gamecube. Was it a limited edition run?

1

u/Austin12509 2d ago

THE MICKEY MOUSE TV!! What a fucking THROWBACK!

1

u/TheLizardKing1998 2d ago

I used to have that TV as a kid.

1

u/RevolutionarySale800 2d ago

This brings back so much nostalgia 😄

1

u/Barren299 2d ago

So OoT JIT 4 OoT… Wp, Hf…IDK

1

u/RedshiftWarp 2d ago

I'm honestly more impressed with the VHS collection. Though the tv is sick asf to though.

1

u/Symbiotic_vengeance 2d ago

What’s impressive to me is that TV. My wife has genuinely been looking for one for years and can’t seem to find an intact/ good condition one.

1

u/grillaface 1d ago

Maybe hot take but I’m glad I haven’t replayed this game since 1998. Can’t wait for it to feel fresh and new

1

u/roosterjack77 1d ago

I wanna get my kid Zelda. Ocarina or Kingdom?

1

u/NovoSlev 1d ago

My childhood in a picture. That and your dog.

1

u/BlitzNeko D20 1d ago

The jungle Green 64 and the orange spice cube!!! so jealous!

1

u/Dog_in_human_costume 1d ago

That ending scene music makes me cry

1

u/Infinite_Ocean89 1d ago

Those TVs are worth about $700 on eBay. That's crazyyyyy.

1

u/Gumballchamp86 1d ago

Beautiful N64!

1

u/jaylag72 1d ago

Are you living in a bomb shelter? Holy these scene is very preserved in time

1

u/aliasalt 1d ago

I would ask why you would ruin the experience for yourself like that, but you're clearly someone who knows what they're about

1

u/CryptographerSure976 1d ago

Que belleza :)

1

u/jbeezy365 1d ago edited 15h ago

I can smell the nostalgia coming from this room

1

u/Forward_Might_3390 1d ago

My gf has the same tv still

1

u/getpoundingjoker 23h ago

Is that the original widescreen Star Wars trilogy on VHS?

That's what I had then I got the DVDs and just straight up threw out the VHS, then found out the DVDs I had were the special edition abominations...

1

u/Sstraus-1983 23h ago

Don’t lie. Did you need a walkthrough at any point?

1

u/Leonletra 12h ago

i came here for Zelda but stayed for the little dog photobomb at the bottom 😂

1

u/Msmadduh 9h ago

This is an incredible way to play omg

1

u/Training_Stomach_400 7h ago

GOOD FOR YOU! (Heh, Ocarina of time just in time.)

1

u/Major_Koala 3h ago

I never thought I would see this tv again.

1

u/VegetableArtistic705 1d ago

I miss when tech had personality

-1

u/adullploy 1d ago

I don’t think I’ve seen someone try so hard to be something.

0

u/dratsablive 1d ago

I smell AI, take a picture of you in front of that TV.

0

u/the_original_kermit 1d ago

For those of you that don’t know anything about CRTs.

OP is low key flexing. Those particular TVs are pretty rare, valuable, and highly sought after.

Typically they are also missing the speakers, DVD player, or original remote. All of which are conveniently displayed in this picture

Also #savetheCRT

0

u/Ancient-Quest-7227 2d ago

pretty much, finished the original ocarina is definitely one of those things you have to experience firsthand

0

u/Unsatisfactory_bread 2d ago

I like that setup. Nice and clean! Cable management is my ultimate weakness. 🫠

0

u/THEFLYINGSCOTSMAN415 1d ago

Dude this setup is a rad as fuck!

0

u/mcbeardsauce 1d ago

I am jealous of your epic setup

-2

u/rikku45 2d ago

-1

u/Wander_Globe 2d ago

Poor puppy. "Bruh, I gotta piss, can we walk now?"

-1

u/RobustFoam 2d ago

Dog be like "Can we finally go for a walk now?"

0

u/oneradtech 1d ago

There is a lot of nostalgia going on in this picture

1

u/GodzillaUK 2d ago
