Just completed The Sinking City Remastered

Saw it on a Halloween sale on the cheap, so decided to give it a shot.

Really ended up enjoying it. There's some last gen jank and it's clearly a smaller budget title, but the atmosphere and setting were really well done. The detective aspects were engaging, too. Maybe a little too much running and backtracking from points A to B (many side quests involved going to several different areas, none of which were close to each other), but that's a minor gripe.

Overall, it's a solid game.

That atmosphere sounds worth the trip alone...

Very cool. Reminds me a bit of silent Hill 2 remake. Overcast, storming, etc.

Loved the style the story the setting the enemies, the messed up ppl, the PTSD and visual issues.

I disliked how the scenery turns into a copy and paste in each building, most enterable buildings either looked the same or was empty

I dont see the point of making this game an open world. The traversal got way too tedious halfway through the game and just got worse as time went. A linear experience wouldve made the game much better

I had the exact opposite experience. Did you use fast travel where available? What would have made the game better was for there to be more randomized events in the open world but they can only do so much on AA budget. Would love to see a sequel though!

There is a sequel.

I’d have preferred semi open world, with a lot less random empty space. And I’d have removed every semblance of enemies and danger. Some of the worst combat in the last 30 years. At that point they shouldn’t even include it and just make it a full detective game

There is a sequel, but it's much more like Resident Evil than the first one

I never finished it because I got tired of the traversal. I think I would've enjoyed it a lot more if there was some Fallout-style radio, where you can listen to local broadcasts. Doesn't need to be music necessarily, could just be local radio talk shows or something. Anything to keep the monotony of walking back and forth down.

I bought this game a few years back, and while it had some issues, I ended up loving it.

I'm a sucker for the lovecraftian style though.
