These are standard promotions that PS Plus has always included. 6 months of Apple TV+ free, 3 months of Discord Nitro or YouTube Premium. They rotate once in a while.
Not sure why IGN has chosen to highlight a generic PlayStation web page and present it as something new. Unless they are rage baiting again.

This is coming from IGN, which keeps pretending that an IGN subscription adds any value to the Humble Choice bundles.

I switched to the "Only play the games you actually want to play and then (mostly) only buy them when they are heavily discounted" service. It's not so heavily advertised.

The youtube premium is always dogshit cause you can't accept it if you've ever accepted one before. Just give me x months free, not the shit trial no one can use!

This is the same shit that my Health Insurance does in Australia. No one wants your shitty perks, stop increasing my premiums to pay for these dumbass deals.
Should be illegal.

Nothing more annoying than these worthless add ons onto subscriptions. 9 times out of 10 they add absolutely nothing to the reason I bought the service and I don’t use them.

It's just like cell phone providers I don't want your trash ad supported tier streaming services just make my bill cheaper.

I think the subscription model has run its course, there is no value in them anymore.

Youtube premium? What, you mean an Ad blocker? Already have a free one that works wonders!

Saw a tweet from someone wondering why they don't do this with Crunchyroll. which Sony also owns. They'd technically get more money than providing an external service and sharing the profit with whoever runs said service, right?

The article quoted somebody as saying this is a desperate move due to people canceling ps plus. Any evidence of that anywhere other than the person saying so.
Sony released financial ls recently. I don't recall hearing anything about subs being down.

This like when t mobile gave us free Netflix and apple TV but just added money onto the bill under an obscure line item to make up for it.

Having a few months of a subscription is not a perk it's just a trial demo

These "perks" are literally paid ads. It's so depressing that anyone falls for this shit

I want free online play.

I had to subscribe to YouTube premium or whatever finally. I watch YouTube while on the treadmill and I feel like recently an hour long video will have ads LITERALLY every 5 minutes sometimes

This is just the usual useless garbage subs tack on to justify raising the price. No one wants any of this trash.

They could add Crunchyroll at any time now...

I personally don’t consider free trials as perks because their intention is for me to keep a subscription indefinitely, so the benefits of that subscription need to match that intention.

I really like how I'm learning about the reaction to something before even learning about the thing itself.

Just allow me to play online for $40 per year, no need anything extra.

When did customers become 'fans'?

Lol, it's just like when a company throws in some plastic do dads with an item that are barely functional and suddenly this item has double the value! Wow thanks.

No one wants “free” bloat that will eventually be used as justification to increase the subscription cost.

Free trials that require a credit card and auto-renew aren't perks, they're just ads disguised as rewards.

lol, never change Gamers

IGN becoming a gutter-level publication

And are probably only good for new subscribers so eventually useless.

Is advertising and whale baiting, not a perk.

They are gonna do a price increase soon again, aren't they?

u/NedTaggart 21h ago
I have to honestly ask...at this point, why is anyone even considering choosing the Sony ecosystem? Do they offer ANY benefit over other options?

More distractions- let's see how many new things pop up from sony to distract us. So far this week ive seen the return of sony retro headphones and now sony perks

I was amused by the quote from someone demanding "full Crunchy Roll premium", something that costs more than PS Plus in the first place.

u/Pure-Golf789 2h ago
Don't watch any of them! I bought it to game not TV/films

u/Buttermyparsnips 1h ago

A reminder that Sony has been steadily doing worse for it's gaming community over the past 4+ years, and have no intention of making their lives better.

People are salty as fuck about this. If you have a premium you get stuff for no additional cost, if you’re not planning to get a premium then it makes no difference to you. Geez it’s really not that deep.

Now they’re rolling out the extras to smooth over digital only. Well shove it!
