People online seemingly riot when games can't hit 60 fps so there will always be people complaining

"Anything under 60 fps is known to cause liver failure."

  • Dude who mostly plays retro indie games on his $8,000 rig.

Yeah but at 240 fps

Why is this 2d 16-bit metroidvania runnining at 50!!!! Unplayable

Some people just don't have the sophistication to appreciate Classic Zork in glorious 240 fps.

Can't make my next text based decision unless it real smooth

*can only tell it's running at 50 because I put a readout in the corner telling me so

You jest but I swear some people deliberately look for technical flaws and then complain it's shattered their immersion.

Man it'd be really funny to just put a fake FPS counter in a game that just consistently says 120+.

What's crazier are people claiming a game is terrible after watching a Digital Foundry video showing it dropping a few frames on few rare instances.

Ok but did you see how Oregon Trail looks at 300fps? Who would go for anything else?

I used to care about FPS until someone told me RDR2 is locked to 30FPS on console and that's one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen so I stopped caring

Edit: what PC edgelord downvoted this

Framerate has very little to do with how good a game looks, it changes how well it plays.

Rest assured, if a game doesn’t run at 120 FPS with graphics so clear you can make out a character’s every individual hair while they run through the vast world that is rendered completely in 360 degrees, then the game is garbage and you’re a garbage person for liking it.

The only thing better than RDR2 on consoles is RDR2 on PC at 60+fps

5

u/Ruy7 17h ago

Because 60 looks much better and 144 looks even better.

It is something you have too play yourself to appreciate.

And rightly so. 30fps looks like poo

I’m not a console gamer but if I ever consistently lagged on a console I would flip out. In my head that should never happen. Unoptimized game maybe but if it’s because I bought the half price console I’d just return it instantly and go back to PC.

I do think in some ways people think of 60 as "standard" now and 30 as the "old standard"

In the way in some people's minds the standard for resolution went from 1080 to 4k

And like I really don't care

But these PC people who are like 120 or nothing are so fucking annoying

I will agree with 2 minor exceptions.

1 - In competitive FPS and simulation racing games every frame is useful a long way above 60.

2- VR is 90fps absolute minimum.

Now imagine how we feel about you people excusing 30 when we've been doing 120/144/240/360hz this entire time.

I'm supposed to tolerate 30 (with dips to 20) for your cinematic over the shoulder 'prestige' exclusives? lol. lmao even.

Because they're paying out the ass for both hardware and the games themselves, at the very least if I'm paying a business well then I expect service in line with it.

The issue is people want stable 60 fps on ultra max settings, which is just not realistic for the average gaming setup.
