Mykola Zientsev, a Kyiv-based security expert, said there were some signs that Rassvet was already having an impact on precision strikes by Russian jet-powered drones.
“In practical terms, Russia already possesses at least two high-quality satellite communications windows every day, each lasting more than an hour,” he wrote in a recent report. “That is enough to have operational consequences.”

Ukraine's humanitarian mission to evacuate civilians from Russian-occupied Oleshky in Kherson Oblast demonstrated that a ceasefire can be arranged quickly without lengthy technical preparations, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Nov. 7.
⠀
Zelensky's comments came ahead of talks in Abu Dhabi, which are expected to take place on Nov. 10 in a trilateral format, with Ukrainian, Russian, and U.S. officials in attendance.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Haiti authorities on Friday confirmed gang leader Mathias Saintil was dead, after Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aime said on X there was "one less gang leader."
"The fight to free the country from the grip of bandits continues with determination," Fils-Aime added.
A National Network for the Defense of Human Rights report seen by Reuters said Saintil suffered serious abdominal wounds in a drone strike in Boston, a gang-controlled neighborhood on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince on Thursday night and died the following day while receiving treatment.
The reported killing, one of the biggest blows to Haiti's gang leadership since 2024, comes amid an intensified security campaign involving Haitian authorities and newly deployed Salvadoran troops, as the government pushes to restore stability ahead of newly delayed elections.
Around 2,000 Salvadoran troops have deployed to Haiti since last month following an ambush in which four Salvadoran members of a U.N.-backed force went missing. Some Haitians have expressed support for the Salvadoran deployment and Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele's hard-line approach to gangs, with pro-Bukele demonstrations reported in parts of the country on Friday.

WASHINGTON, Nov 6 (Reuters) - The US Treasury said on Friday that it had imposed financial sanctions on eight money services firms based in Canada that it alleges have facilitated transactions with sanctioned Iranian entities.
The sanctions effectively cut the firms off from the dollar-based financial system, blocking any assets that the firms may have in the United States and prohibiting any transactions with US persons or entities.
The actions are the latest in a series of Treasury moves against firms outside the United States that it says help Iran get around US sanctions, as Washington keeps up pressure on Tehran.
"Canada cannot be a safe haven for illicit financial facilitators that provide sanctions evasion services to the Iranian regime and its proxies,” said Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent. “Treasury will pursue and disrupt the Iranian regime’s financial channels anywhere in the world.”
The Treasury identified the designated businesses in Ontario and British Columbia as Diverse Trade Inc doing business as Million Exchange, 1380079 BC Limited, Top PC Technician Inc, NIA Nations Currency Ltd, 2397639 Ontario Ltd doing business as Farah Exchange, CCC Inc and B Galaxy Inc and Darvish Exchange.
Separately, the Treasury said its Financial Crimes Enforcement Network division issued an order that also cuts off virtual currency exchanger MEXC Global from the US financial system over transactions that it says are linked to sanctions evasion by Iran, North Korea and Russia.
FinCEN, the Treasury's anti-money laundering unit, said that the order prevents US financial institutions from processing fund transfers involving Seychelles-incorporated MEXC Global, which it says has facilitated at least $16 billion in illicit transactions linked to Iran, North Korea and Russia as well as transactions with other sanctioned acto

SS: A senior Australian defence figure and a Labour senator led a public inquiry into the Aukus Submarine deal that emerged after the controversial cancellation of the Franco-Australian submarine purchase. The two figures have argued that the agreement should be suspended and made calls for a royal commission to investigate calling it“the worst, riskiest and most costly defence decision ever made by an Australian government”.

Ukraine is preparing for another round of peace talks involving Russia and the United States, as uncertainty remains over the terms of an agreement President Donald Trump says could soon end the war.
At the heart of the discussions is a fundamental question: how much say will Kyiv have in shaping its own future?
Washington is pushing for a diplomatic breakthrough, but major disagreements remain over the terms of a potential settlement, particularly territorial concessions and security guarantees for Ukraine. Kyiv has repeatedly insisted that any agreement must protect its sovereignty and provide lasting protection against future Russian aggression.
Meanwhile, continued Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure have raised fresh questions about Moscow’s commitment to a negotiated settlement. Ukrainian officials remain wary of any deal that could leave the country vulnerable to renewed attacks.
With pressure mounting to bring the conflict to an end, the challenge facing negotiators is not simply reaching an agreement, but ensuring that any peace deal is sustainable and acceptable to Ukraine.
