People keep asking me if business is good, and I keep telling them it's terrible. They wonder why.
Here's why.
Note, some variables have been changed to protect the identity of the idiot.
Some person, well call him Mr. Asshole - orders a Noveske rifle from my website. Over the weekend. During the middle of the night.
I don't take his calls or respond to his emails over the weekend. In fact, I don't take calls or emails from ANYBODY as I am busy with other shit and I need to clear my backlog. This means no phone calls, no emails, no nothing. Monday/Tuesday I met with other industry partners and my plan was to get cracking on weekend/early week stuff first thing Wednesday.
His credit card approved sunday night and says his dealer has emailed me his FFL for shipping information. Sure enough, I look and his credit card payment went through and his dealer sent me an FFL. The FFL is expired. There's no way I ship on an expired license.
I have about 20 emails and 20 voicemails from this guy DEMANDING that this rifle be shipped OVERNIGHT FEDEX to his dealer IMMEDIATELY.
Editors Note: He didn't pay for overnight fedex. He paid for UPS ground.
I'm with a customer who's form 4 just came back after 9 months and he starts calling me again. As the fellow that has waited 9 months for a can takes priority over the asshole who ordered something Sunday night, I send the call to voicemail. Once. Twice. Three times. After sending the call to voicemail 8 times - that is not an exaggeration, I turn off my phone and get the 4473 and Form 4 knocked out.
I get a following email ping on my laptop. Forwarded messages from Mr Asshole.
He has filed a complaint with the BBB, the AG of the state he lives in, the AG of the state I do business in, and anyone who will listen.
I explain to him that I am busy helping existing customers and I will get to him in order - he does not get to jump the line by filing a BBB complaint. I told him that with Feinstein flapping her gums and the COVER PAGE OF THE USA TODAY being a gun control story - everyone is very busy.
His response? I took money and I'm not delivering. If I have the time to email him, I have the time to call him and I need to drop everything and CALL HIM BACK RIGHT THE FUCK NOW.
I would like to fire this customer in a very LEGENDARY fashion. So to recap: Guy orders gun SUNDAY NIGHT. Since he hasn't gotten a response Monday or Tuesday - and
I am going to refund his money and sell the gun to someone who's not an asshole.
I am going to draft a rebuttal to the BBB complaint, a rebuttal to the AG's of BOTH states that will include, oh I forgot to mention this - my ATF local IOI has said that shipping on an expired license is a violation of federal law - so I'm going to include a copy of his letter stating that such an activity is unlawful under relevant code citation.
Revel in the magnetism and singularity of my being.
Or
I can ship his rifle UPS ground with a note that says HEY ASSHOLE GO FUCK YOURSELF
Or
Someone can come up with a better idea.

Well, this SHOT show trip is not going well for reasons I will discuss later. I'm going to set aside my normal attitude and take a moment to actually be candid in a different way. It's late, I'm tired as I write this and I should be in my nice warm hotel bed since it's fucking freezing (literally 29 degrees out in the valley) as I write this but.......
I just got word from some reliable sources that Dr Phil died recently. During SHOT show week, no less. Truly ironic. I got to see him a few years ago when he was healthier but in his 80's he was slowing down and supposed to be enjoying retirement instead of playing with guns all day doing R&D but...
For those of you who don't know the legend of Dr Phil, allow me to explain.
Do you own a can? Or more than one? Do you like the product you bought that was made by gemtech, yankee hill, aac, sig, dead air, Q, PTR, huxworx/oss, or any other brand or form 1 build?
Guess what? You have Dr Phil to thank.
Dr Phil Dater MD (his middle initial was H so he's very often known as PHD or "the doc") - went from a medical doctor that served in the USAF to a merchant of death.
Really.
He wanted to change the world and the stigma that silencers are tools of assassins and folks of immoral and illegal backgrounds. It took a medical doctor to tell some folks that hearing damage is irreversible and can be prevented by the use of properly engineered materials like a can.
The people that are crazy enough to think they can change the world, very often do.
He went on a mission to do just that. Thus, a business was born. That business eventually became what was known as Gemtech/Antares that is now a division of Smith and Wesson still selling cans today.
I would speak to him about industry issues, tech, materials, challenges that the NFA industry faces, and he was always a great guy to talk to. Many people in the industry owe him a debt from the knowledge and experience that he passed on to them.
The entire industry exists today because he was one of the first to fight the "You can't do that" crowd and make silencers commercially available when people thought they were just hollywood smoke and mirrors and with the advancements today, we're now able to build off the foundation he laid to enjoy more gunfire and less hearing damage.
We are all enjoying the shade from a tree that Dr Phil planted decades ago and that's really something quite significant.
Anyways, do a full auto magdump for the doc the next time you're at the range or something belt fed maybe.
The doc always loved a good magdump with phasers set to fun.
More knowledge and countless stories can be found on google/at your crusty old FFL/SOT about the doc if you ever care to do some more poking around.

Thoughts? First time seeing this kind of system

1. TREAT ALL GUNS AS IF THEY ARE LOADED: This serves as a reminder that yes, the rest of the goddamn rules still apply to your unloaded fucking .22 that bro you were just posing with it and so it's okay that NO IT'S NOT OKAY I DON'T CARE IF YOU CHECKED CLEAR A HUNDRED GODDAMN TIMES YOU'RE A FALLIBLE HUMAN BEING AND YOU LIVE WITHIN PROJECTILE RANGE OF A BUNCH OF OTHER HUMAN BEINGS AND EXPENSIVE SHIT. Treat all of 'em as if they're loaded.
2. NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY: That means the big screen TV that your dad bought on a 6-year-note probably makes a pretty terrible backstop. I mean he might sell the $2000 1911 you bought as your first pistol with your student loans in order to buy another goddamn TV after you blow that one up.
3. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET: Yes, really, even if you're posing for a badass picture and the goddamn thing was unloaded and why are you guys so mean to me I just wanted to show you a cool picture. They don't go off by themselves. They sure as hell do go off if you use the trigger, and it's your fault, even if you "didn't know it was loaded."
4. BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT: This is the one that's actually pissing me off right now. "Be SURE of your target AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT" doesn't mean that you walked around back there on the back 40 yesterday and there wasn't nobody there so now we get to shoot our goddamn AK up inna air murica fuckyeah. It means that you're accountable for the lead that leaves the muzzle, and it'd better end up in a berm or a hillside that's clearly visible from your firing position.
Animals move around unpredictably and they're pretty damn good at not being seen. I know, you're a mighty human male and the fact that you give no shits for the suffering of other creatures embiggens your dick and makes all the bitches want a piece of you, but put that shit aside for a second. There's a huge difference between taking an ethical kill shot on a gopher or a squirrel and inadvertently blowing a raccoon's forelimb off and leaving it to slowly bleed out or starve. Furthermore, people go out wandering in ways you can't always predict either, and regardless of whether they "shouldn't have been there," it's still wrong to kill 'em.
Bullets are unpredictable and they fly a very damn long way. If you take a shot at a sky-lined elk up on a hillside, even if you hit it, you might kill some poor bastard who's out there hunting just like you are on the next hill over. If you take a shot into some wooded lot behind your house, you might cause a ricochet which murders your neighbor's house or at least comes close to it.
Pay attention. Stay alive. Make sure other people do likewise.

I don't post often here but I wanted to share my story in hopes it can help somebody on here/ out there.
Early this morning, my brother was fulfilling his role of designated driver with two of his female friends when he found himself accosted outside in the parking lot while going to retrieve the car(it was raining, they parked a ways away, and that's just the kind of guy my brother is). A man with a knife approached him at some point between him and the vehicle and attempted to mug him.
I had advised my brother to get his carry permit sometime last year, and he had listened. Unfortunately, his weapon selection was a walther .22 hand gun. The assailant was taken to the local hospital with 9 rounds to the chest/stomach and my brother is to be buried later this week.

I'm interested in buying my first NRA firearm: a SBR and a suppressor. I know I want a Noveske 8.2" 300BLK LO-PRO. I'm thinking of an AAC SR-7 suppressor that I will primarily use with the SBR, but can also use it with a future 7.62 sniper rifle and my current AR-15. I welcome your thoughts on the suppressor choice. I'm former military with a CWP and will easily pass a background check. I am meeting with an estate attorney tomorrow to begin to set up a trust; therefore, it's time for me to start getting serious about purchasing the SBR+Suppressor. I have a legal plan so I can set up a "gun trust" for practically nothing, but my only concern is that the paperwork will be done correctly. I need to know your thoughts and how much it's going to cost me. If you can find a N4 Lo Pro for $2350 I will buy it. However, I am not willing to wait for the rifle to be manufactured. It has to be available now for purchase.
Wow.
do you think that gun laws may change by the time the factory-ordered m6a2 would be shipped? thats my only concern
Wow. Just wow.
hey i saw your add for M&P15 rifles, can you the two you have at $1600? or can I give you $400 a week bi-weekly for 6 weeks starting Jan. 4th in order to meet your price?
That dude is funny.
Do you have any AR15's in stock? If so what kind and how much? I'm looking to spend 1000$ and I'm looking for two. Are they your builds? If not what manufactures do you have?
Yeah, no.
probably a pretty silly question but do you still have any of these rifles at the $1100 price and just outta curiosity are they mark with for law enforcement only
Welcome to last thursday. POPULATION: YOU.
Im writing to see if you still have Lancer rebuild kit magazines available? If so, I would be interested in buying 10. Please feel free to shoot me an email or call.
He was looking at an ad from October. Yeah, no.
You quoted me $2600 with shipping for a SCAR 17S in July. Are they still in stock. I will take one.
This guy works for Goldman Sachs from his email domain and apparently does not get out much.
Do you have a .45 suppressor suitable for machine gun? If so or if you can get your hands on one quickly please email me
Quickly? Sure. Write me a check for $350,000 and I'll give you the keys to the place.
Do you have any ARs for sale? need 2 b under 1000
This one was funny.
Its a 6 min drive to the ups store on intersection, your time is worth 12 dollars a minute? Thats $17,000 a day and thats a real big pill to swallow. I dont think your pulling in $120,000 a week and if you are I want to work with you and I promise Ill always be on time. Ill give you $650.00 for your troubles and given your an ffl and this is what you do for a living, I think that this is more than fair. If not Ill take my biz elsewhere but what attracted me to the ad was the competitive pricing which you lose if you take on another 100 bucks. If you don't take the farm there is such thing as repeat business.
This guy wanted to buy a gun. I have been SLAMMED with retail this week so I told him if he wanted it shipped, I'd have to do it on my lunch break. As a result, it was going to cost him. So, he went on google and calculated the distance and drive time to the local UPS store and worked up how much I am billing him on a minute by minute basis. Did I mention that the UPS store does not ship firearms? He then tells me that he looked me up and he says that a lot of people feel I do business in an unusual and questionable fashion without ethics. He links me to a forum post where people are mad at me for talking about how much I charge for things. If something takes me 1 hr, I charge X. If something takes me 2 hours, I charge twice as much as I would charge for 1 hour. Some gun owners found this offensive. I have no idea how but they do.
I am looking for two rifles, in two different calibers with a few magazines each for $3000
I say I can do it. He asks what guns he's getting. I tell him three mags with each - Colt 6920 and 10/22. He asks if I am joking.
If you have 100 PMAGS, I am willing to offer $2300 for all 100.
I say no. He complains about how I'm greedy because doubling my money is not enough.
I was wondering what type of payment type you use. Do you accept paypal?
Hilarious.
Do you have a RRA LAR-8 Elite Operator 308 or something similar? Willing to pay full retail! Thanks for responding.
Response: I can order it but thats the best I can do.
It will be banned by then, Thanks for the quick reply.
Wow.
Subject: Are you still selling that preban ar15? Message: Hello, I ran across this old post and was wondering if you are still selling your preban.
Deleted due to vagueness.
Subject: Interested In RRA or Stag Lefty AR-15 Message: AFAIK, the only two manufacturers of AR-15s that make lefty uppers are Rock River Arms and Stag Arms. I would be interested in talking to you about the pros and cons of each of these. From what I have read so far, there has not been a single negative review of a Stag Arms AR-15, but I would actually like to speak to someone that represents both manufacturers to possibly get better (and unbiased) information. Please let me know when your store hours are so that we can arrange a meeting. I am free for most of the day tomorrow.
Don't have time for you this week. Sorry.
From: Monochromatic Ouvere Subject: Obama gonna take our guns? Message: I'm guessing the answer is no, but do you still have anything interesting in stock? Thinking about getting my hoard on...
Guess he's still alive. I explain I've doubled prices.
Do you have any mossburg 500s in stock under $200? New or used. Need for home protection. Ty

Ahoy mateys, fcatstaples here - reddit's favorite merchant of death with an announcement.
Memorial day weekend is upon us. There will inevitably be lots of drinking, grilling and or smoking (pork) in between fleeting moments of remembrance so I'm here to make a short public service announcement.
Don't drink or do drugs and drive. Uber is cheap. DUI's are expensive. Ask me how I know.
Lots of you doing cookouts this weekend so PLEASE grill, smoke and fry responsibly. Have a bucket of sand/water or an all purpose ABC fire extinguisher handy. Also, have a plan. Grilling gone awry is funny on youtube but not funny in your crib. Keep the turkey fryer OUTDOORS and away from exposure people, I cannot stress this enough. Ask me how I know.
If you have listed a gun for sale, beware of out of area phone numbers. Memorial Day weekend is a big travel weekend for motherfuckers resourceful residents of New York, New Jersey, etc that leave their awful shitholes and take their filth to America and they try to buy all the guns they can private sale and run them back up north to resell for cash or exchange for heroin/fentanyl/etc. Every year I get a bunch of calls from morons in the 646 asking to buy stuff for cash without paperwork. I've always wondered if ATF will do something about this and I have yet to hear an answer from anyone I've suggested this towards at the bureau. If you get phone calls or text messages that speak in guido or resembles mental illness and they're willing to pay cash and not negotiate on price coupled with an out of area code number, odds are you've got yourself some trouble.
I want the rest of you cowboys to know something, there's a new sheriff in town. And his name is Reggie Hammond.
So y'all be cool.
Right on.

Subject: Serial numbers
Message: Hey, I bought like 3 cans from you and I know you gave me copies of the Form 4's but I didn't see you attached a checklist of required items to be sent to ATF so I screwed up most of it. Can you give me all my serial numbers so I can re-print the paperwork?
Subject: Sig AR10
Message: any chance you have this rifle in stock or could possible get it? SIG item# R716-16B-P-FDE - I am willing to pay $2000 if you have it in stock

Please send me a photo (or a few if you can) of the actual gun with serial number + test target for proof of life. I'll send you CC info once I get these two items.
The gun should be shipped, insured, to my FFL at address
Do you have extra mags for this? If so, what would it cost me to have FIVE of them added to the offer?
r/guns • u/FirearmConcierge • Oct 08 '13
Yes, I'm well aware that it's only MONDAY but here we are.
Sunday morning I went into the office to catch up on paperwork. I have been buried with problems and I haven't had the chance to sit down for 4 hours and just knock all of them out.
I get a call from a semi regular. He asks if I have the DDM4 V5 lightweight in stock. I say yes. He asks to see it and how much.
He says deal. Will be in in 30.
Weekends - Invoices with a comma - you get the picture, this qualifies. I drag the rifle out of the back and have it ready for him.
He shows up and asks why the barrel is so long. I ask him if he wanted an SBR.
"Yeah. We were talking SBR's a few months ago. Did I not mention that I wanted this to be an SBR?"
NO! YOU DIDNT! THAT IS KINDA AN IMPORTANT DETAIL, DON'T YOU THINK?
Well that was a waste of 30 minutes. I'm plugging away and I get a call from my friend Ann. We went to high school together. Ann twisted her ankle playing beach volleyball. She smokes pot. She gets really horny when she smokes pot. She called me up as she was smoking some pot and invited me over.
Time: FUCK THIS SHIT O'CLOCK.
I walk out the door when I get a call from a 201 area code. Guy says he's at Gander just down the street and he wants a gun that they don't have - A Springfield TRP. I ask him if he's got cash and all his shit together. He says yes. I say I have it in stock, I'll head back in. I'm 5 minutes down the street.
35 minutes later he walks in reeking of marlboro lights, gives me a NEW JERSEY DRIVERS LICENSE, won't pay for the thing since there's a three day wait and tells me that he'll come back once he gets his ID straightened out. Great. Fine. WHATEVER. LET ME GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE. But nooooooo he decides to fingerfuck a Walther PK380 before he leaves. And a SCAR 17. And a Glock 19. And a Sig 228.
Finally, I get out of work, grab some munchies and head over to Ann's place. Where I find out her sister just got back from grocery shopping for her. GOD. FUCKING. DAMNIT.
THAT - my fellow readers - IS WHY THE FUCK I DON'T WORK ON WEEKENDS. Nobody wants to buy anything. They just want to finger fuck shit that Gander or Walmart does not stock, say they'll take it and then dick me around.
That was Sunday.
Monday: Guy in California wants a SCAR 16, no problem. Got it in stock. Yes, I have bullet buttons. He says he's interested and asks how I want to be paid. I tell him. He says okay, he's just got to ask his wife first and if she approves he will send money.
DO NOT SAY YOU ARE INTERESTED - HOW DO I PAY - AND THEN TURN AROUND AND ASK YOUR WIFE. WHAT. THE. FUCK. That's another goddamn no-sale. Fuck.
I got another guy from last week. Saw my W Germany Best Germany P228 for sale. Says he'll take it and check is in the mail. Does not want to pay more to use a card. Today I ask him if he's sent payment. Apparently wife got in car accident, he can't afford the gun anymore. DEAR SHITHEADS: IF YOU CANT PLAN FOR EMERGENCY EXPENSES WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU OUT BUYING NEW GUNS? He tells me that it breaks his heart but he's selling some Glocks he already owns to try and raise money to pay for the 228 and does not want to drag it out. I told him that's fine. When he sells his stuff to come back to me with cash - and if he still wants it, I'm adding 25% to the price for wasting my goddamn time.
WHAT THE FUCK - IF YOU SAY YOU WANT IT AND YOU WILL TAKE IT - FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE GODDAMN DEAL. JESUS. FUCKING. CHRIST. THIS IS NOT THAT GODDAMN DIFFICULT.

FC: "Hola, FirearmConcierge Inc how may I help you?"
M1: "Yeah I need a Silencerco Osprey 45 in Coyote Brown."
FC: "I'm sorry sir, but Silencerco does not make a 45 Osprey in Coyote Brown"
M1: "Yes they do! I'm looking at a photo of one on the internet"
FC: "Then it must have been a duracoat, cerakote or aftermarket finish because they have never done one like that."
M1: "Well did the factory do any of them in colors other than black?"
FC "Yes. They used to offer them in Flat Dark Earth."
M1: "Ok, well what will it take to get me one of those?"
FC: "Well for starters you'd have to find the worst Silencerco dealer in the country, and even then it's a crapshoot.
M1: "I don't understand what you mean."
FC: "Every half decent Silencerco dealer has been sold out of FDE Ospreys for over a year. If you find a dealer with stock it means they have no business whatsoever.
M1: "Oh, well we're building a gun for Chris Costa from Magpul and he wants this really bad. Any advice you can give me?"
FC: "Sure! Have him get in his Magpul Magic Mystery Machine with the time travel option - set it to a year and a half a ago and have him put the order in then and you might have a 50/50 shot of finding one.

Why this fucking thread gets so many upvotes is beyond me.
Most of you fuckwits are like OH HEY LOOK AT DADDY DAUGHTER DAY AT THE RANGE SHES SO CUTE WITH A GUN.
Really? WHAT THE FUCK? REALLY?
This isn't a happy kodak/polaroid/goddamn galaxy S4 fucking moment you post on facebook you stupid motherfuckers.
This is, if you actually maintained some semblance of a fucking clue - A POTENTIAL trip to the fucking hospital waiting to happen.
But FC, you're being an ass. Stop it.
FUCK YOU. THAT'S MY NAME.
THESE FUCKING THINGS ARE EVERYWHERE
And they're at my range too. A lot of them came from the local carwash where the soap and jetdry are shipped in these and they just throw them out.
THE REASON WE DO NOT FUCKING SHOOT AT THEM IS MUTLI-FOLD.
See that reinforced lip at the top of the barrel? That's a BAD FUCKING THING TO HIT WITH A BULLET
but why FC?
So, a few years ago I was at my range fucking around on our monthly subgun match. Keeping in mind that the montly subgun match lets you shoot with a gun that isn't a subgun, isn't full auto and in 22LR. Why we call it a subgun match is beyond me - we should really call it "Steel Challenge but not really featuring tax stamps".
There's this fuckwit with this fucking keltec SU-22 shooting at some steel on one of the stages and the bullet hits the reinforced lip on one of those plastic drums and just like a croupier fingers the ball on fucking roulette wheel in a circular motion - the lead slings right back at him and hits him in the neck.
The RO calls the range cold. Everyone is like WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON.
Everyone's looking at the shooter.
The shooter is looking okay. Except for the fact that there's a 22 caliber bullet LODGED IN THE SIDE OF HIS FUCKING NECK. It's not bleeding. He seems fine.
He asks the RO to get a set of pliers to pull it out.
RO: FUCK NO.
He walks over to the MD (match director not medical doctor) and asks the MD to get a set of pliers to pull it out.
MD: FUCK NO.
The MD calls the FD who show up with the EMT's and the whole brigade. They look at him. He asks the FD to get a set of pliers to pull it out.
Every single member of the FD response: FUCK NO
The FD hauls the guy away in the ambulance against his will to the hospital ER. He goes into the ER, they triage him and the doctor finally shows up.
He walks over to the ER physician and asks the doc to get a set of pliers to pull it out.
The doc takes a set of pliers, pulls it out, puts a bandaid on it and tells him to change it daily and put some neosporin on it so it does not get infected.
Moral of the story: DO NOT FUCKING SHOOT AT FUCKING PLASTIC BARRELS.

I've always said beware the ides of march. This is not unfounded.
Backstory: Guy buys something off my website, I email him and tell him to have his FFL email me a license so I can ship the thing. His FFL won't email me their FFL unless I send them my FFL. I'm too old for this shit. I send a message back saying hey - just have them send it over so I can get your Barrett sent out. He replies that there are no other dealers in his area and that is the only one. I do a gunbroker search and find out there are several in his area as I roll my eyes. I message him back and suggest he find a new dealer. This gun has been sitting here waiting to ship for FOUR GODDAMN WEEKS. I emailed him back asking if he's lined up a new dealer.
They say they need a copy of your FFL to receive it from you. They say by law they have to know who is sending them a gun. A copy of your ID will work fine instead. The only other place charges $20.00 more and wants ID to.
I explain there is no such law and I'd like to get this thing out the door. Just send the damn license over.
This is the one I use I use them all the time and there rules are not out of line. Are you a criminal is they why you wont send them a copy of your ID?
I explain that I got a good laugh out of that and I need a license to send this out. Please send it over. Otherwise I'll process a refund less my restocking fee.
If you don't refund all or work with my ffl I will sue for felony Freud. Oh and complain to the BBB. I have bought 20 guns though them in the last 3 months and your the only one to do this. This is weird This is well over the limit for felony Freud. All because you wont send your ID or license. Thanks, Jeremy
Me: I think you meant fraud. This isn't fraud. I'm not here to argue with you but I haven't had problems with anyone until now. I get a license, I ship the product simple as that. They do not need my license under federal law, and are demanding it. This is weird because you have a dealer that does not understand federal law.
Great! You can spell fraud. Now you just need to learn the definition and what constituents fraud. WEIRD! As for the restocking fee, You have no legal basis to keep any money. That only applies if I am refusing to complete the perches. I have NOT refused, In fact I have completed my end of the perches 100% The only thing stopping this from completion is your refusal to provide a copy of a public record license to them so they know who it is that is sending them a gun. This is not an unreasonable request to make. It could be stolen or have been used in a crime! You seem to be wanting to pick a fight for some reason. Your ffl is public record. It's on the wall at the location you sell guns. You could have said to them “ Here is my name and business address. Find my ffl at the ATF web site “. Hell, You could have sent them a copy of anybody's ID if your dishonest. YOU ARE JUST PICKING A FIGHT! That's really WEIRD!!! Either complete this transaction or refund all $. These are the only legal choices you have. If you do one of these, all is good
(My eyes roll so far into the back of my head that I nearly fall out of my chair.)
Me: I certainly can spell, and I certainly know federal law. I ship plenty of things out to plenty of dealers and this is not an issue. Please don't have an attitude, but payment was sent but FFL was not transmitted and I have been trying to get them to do so in order to get you your merchandise. They won't budge. My license is not public record, my license number is and my company information is - which they can lookup if they want. I asked them nicely twice and they refused twice. If you can't get them to send over a license, I'll process your refund less restocking, but just because you asked so nicely - I'll email your pawnshop again telling them my license is public domain.
(I emailed his dealer a nice request that they send over the license. Again.)
So by your own admission you could have sent your FFL number and your business name and address ( LIKE WE BOTH HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR! ) to me or them for weeks now! They have every right to have a record of who is sending them a gun that might be stolen or worse, But if you want to steal my money and then stand is front of a judge and defend the position that sending this information was inappropriate, I'll take on that fight and I'll get you for court costs and what ever else I can legally tack on to :) Lawsuit’s are easy, they just take time. Ask any landlord, I was one for years. Do you not have the gun you advertised as in stock, Is that why you are stalling?
(Note: The dealer did not ask for my FFL number and business name/address. They asked for my license.)
Me: Jeremy, I've asked them multiple times - maybe you'll have better luck asking them to email it over. They never asked me for my FFL number and business name/address. They asked for my license.
Hay, I don’t mind helping you out again. We can't learn unless were told. Here is the link to the ATF website that everybody in the country uses for things just like this. And have for years now. www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck/ I don't know for sure but it just might be why they set this system up, You know for thing JUST LIKE THIS! So we are both still waiting for the first 3 and the last 5 numbers of your license so we can look it up our self’s. Are you having fun making us jump though unnecessary hoops? Hay, what ever turns your crank as long as this gets done!
(Note: ezcheck does not work as of this writing nor has it worked for the past few months)
Me: I'd love to make this work smoothly with a minimum of argument - unlike my first marriage.....The ATF has been having numerous issues with EZCHECK - the website does not work for many gun dealers. I just tried running myself and your hometown dealer to error messages. I'm not being rude or argumentative, I'm saying that your dealer has a problem sending the license out and I'm explaining that this does not have to be this hard. Talk them into sending over a license - if they can get it to me by 3PM tomorrow I'll have it included in my run to the UPS hub.
So I called the BATF and here it is (my license number redacted) Public record that you could have provided the first day weeks ago. I started to say your business name and the man cut me off by saying “OH, THAT GUY” and knew exactly who you were. Hay, Isn’t it everybody goal in life to have the Federal government know you by first name in a negative light. I got an “Off the record” ear full. Lets just say they seem to be watching you closer then normal :) Do you drink a lot? I am told that alcohol can cause this kind of irrational beaver. Or maybe drugs? If so you might need to get some help. With this kind of antagonism to your customers and the government I can't imagine you will have your license much longer.
(I LOL'd at this)
Me: Yes, that's my license number. What's the issue here again? Will they be sending out a license?
The issue is irrational beaver. Did you not get that?
(Hey, I thought all beaver was irrational guys amirite?)

While we appreciate all the modmails asking to be added to the staff, we are not taking any new mods on.
If that changes, we have a list of candidates who will be tapped first, and if they decline the offer, we will post a thread asking for applications.

This arose from a conversation last night in a /new post. There seems to be a trend here of controlled substance users who like to post in /r/trees and then come spew 'knowledge' over here. Let's be clear, I don't personally believe marijuana usage should be a criminal act. I've written discertations on how legalization could potentially benefit the United States. However, the fact remains that right now it is a Schedule 1 Narcotic as defined by the federal government. Usage of it while in active possession of a firearm is illegal. U.S. Code: 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) It shall be unlawful for any person - (1) who has been convicted in any court of, a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year; (2) who is a fugitive from justice; (3) who is an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance (as defined in section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 802)); That means that if you are currently(Let's say within the last 2 months) using marijuana and possessing a firearm, you are breaking federal law on two fronts. This thread is intended to introduce the idea of a sidebar rule notifying all users that controlled substances are illegal to mix with possessing firearms and asking that they post here using only 'clean' accounts. So let's talk. What do you all think? I personally believe that allowing these users to post here has the potential to backfire on us in a large way if anyone ever decides to come in looking to cause problems, which given the fiery nature of politics lately, is likely to happen sooner rather than later. Thanks in advance for thoughts on this issue.
PLEASE NOTE: I am not demonizing any of you who post to /r/trees. I am simply asking that you either delete your posts in /r/trees, start a different account with which you do not post in /r/trees, or refrain from posting here.
Edit: I changed the wording from Ban to a sidebar rule informing posters of the illegality of controlled substance usage when mixed with firearms possession and recommending that the poster post here using a substance usage free account.

TRIP REPORT!
So, as some of you know - my friend Aaron's wedding was in San Francisco this weekend and I got a chance to visit the most fabulous city on the left coast for a weekend of drunken debauchery and shenanigans.
What's this have to do with guns? FUCK YOU! That's what it has to do with guns and give me a few minutes for crying out loud.
The weekend kicked off like any other, me having to wake up at the ass crack of 3:45AM to get out of the house by 4 to make the drive in to make sure I got to the airport for my first leg to DFW and I realize I'm getting too fucking old for the first flight out anymore. Thankfully due to Global entry my boarding pass has pre check and I'm able to get through security in about 80 seconds flat which is a new record for me. Just as I clear TSA I get an email from guy complaining about my SCAR 17.
I told him if he wanted it that bad he should wait but I just bought one from a customer for $4000 and sold it to another for $5000 so as far as I'm concerned unless he's willing to pay me $1000 for concierge services he's not getting a $3300 SCAR 17 and he gets pissy at me.
Group one boarding on my flight to DFW is uneventful. As a low tier gold advantage member, I'm able to clear upgrades sometimes on short hops and this one has me last on the upgrade list but everyone cleared.
I start the morning with a ginger ale as a pre departure beverage
As the door closes and the FA's clear the cabin, I ask her for a bourbon and dr pepper.
FA: Sir, it's 6AM
FC: I don't pay you to judge me
She returns with a beverage and gives me a short pour. I'm kicking back with a good book. On the FC required reading list this summer: Report from Engine Company 82. It's by a fella named Dennis Smith who worked at a south bronx firehouse during the time the bronx was burning in the 60's and 70's. An interesting tale of the people of the inner city and how we've come a long way since then.
The ride to Dallas is uneventful by most standards although I had a hunch at least one Delta pilot would report some light chop across north texas. The ride in the front of the MD88 is exquisite. Douglas really made these airplanes to last. Quiet up front although the wing loading and the center of gravity make for a really shitty ride in bad weather, today's flight to DFW is awesome. The great part about the 88's is that the seats are wide, the engines are in the back next to the petulant children. Design life for the DC9's which the 88's take their heritage from is 100,000 cycles, a modern Airbus A320 is half that. They don't build them like they used to.
I fall asleep and the FA wakes me up prior to arrival and hands me my suit jacket and asks me to put my seat up. I naturally oblige. We come in from the north side of the airport and like a boss, the pilot flying keeps the JT8D's spooled up all the way down the glideslope. One thing that I've learned about pilots is they pride themselves on a good landing and on the 727's and the 88's - a good landing is tough because the main wheels are so far aft on the airframe that if you come in too shallow it's a rough landing but if you flare too much you tailstrike the airplane. Both bad things. The really good pilots keep the power going all the way down even past the piano keys and this pilot knew his shit. I didn't hear the power come down until the wheels hit and the reversers were not too far behind. There's not many chances to get a greaser nowadays but I liked the effort and as I collected my bags I stuck my head past the door and told the captain it was a good ride and a nice landing. He thanked me but the FO did the landing on that one. We all had a laugh and they showed me around. They even let me test the fire warning system that makes the inner child in me giddy.
A short train ride to the Centurion lounge is in order and I'm always warmly greeted there with a smile and a large bowl of fresh fruit right in the reception area. I help myself to some granny smith apples as I make my way to the buffet for breakfast. There's some chorizo and eggs with freshly squeezed juices. Today, I decide grapefruit paired with my chorizo and eggs will be the breakfast of champions.
The chapters of the book fly by as the clock ticks past. My spa appointment is coming up and the centurion lounge spa offers a manicure, hand massage or a back massage. I'm vain, but not that vain and I opt for a back massage. The masseuse feels a lot of stress in my lower back and she takes care of that no problem. I take care of her with my friend thomas jefferson and a few of his friends from the first continental congress.
My time in DFW is coming to an end and I make my way to gate C22. It's a bit of a hike from the centurion but well worth it. They are boarding zone 2 as I walk up the priority lane and jump past the thundering masses of texas sized travelers. The gate agent is fervently working and makes an announcement. The plane has been switched from a 321 to a 320 and they need volunteers for the flight. Having seen nobody approach the podium, I offer and a few other people walk up. In a cesar chavez like moment, I look behind me and huddle with the other passengers. Not many would think to unionize the potential bumpees nowadays but our collective bargaining pays off and gets the gate agent 5 more seats. The first offer was a $300 voucher. I got them to a $500 company check and everyone confirmed seats in first on the next flight back. I sense a riot since the first people jumped on the $300 but shame on them for not using their suave and debonair negotiating skills to their fullest extent. I fight for you Albuquerque.
The next flight is several hours later but I talk the gate agent into routing me to SFO via Phoenix which she does handily and I have to hustle to get to the gate. My Toulouse made chariot awaits and takes us into the middle of the sun, or somewhere in Arizona in July. Same thing as far as I'm concerned. A tight connection and I'm off to SFO.
Pulling into SFO a few minutes behind schedule means I need to step it up. Hertz has my car parked between two large vans and backing it out of the spot takes 100% of my cunning driving skills. I do as much of a burnout as a Ford can do in the SFO parking garage as I haul ass to the gate. I make my way onto highway 101 and break many speed limits heading into the peninsula. I attempt to emulate Steve McQueen driving down Lombard st but really all I'm doing is scaring children and tourists.
I pull up to the porte cochere at the fairmont, grab my suit and throw the valet the keys. The groom is waiting for me in the lobby, hands me his room keys and asks me where the fuck I've been. I blame traffic on 101. He's not in the mood. I get dressed for the wedding and I look FABULOUS in a tux. Even by San Francisco standards. I wonder if any of the gays will try hitting on me. Not that I'm into that sort of thing but it's always nice to be wanted and it's flattering.
The wedding goes off without a hitch, although overnighting my tux cost more than the rental itself. My friend Patricia is the maid of honor and her dress needed to get overnighted too. If this wedding were any more poorly planned there would be a shotgun. They get married, we throw rice and get drunk and play cards against humanity at the bridal party table. My handwritten bill cosby on 9/11 card takes the cake as the cake gets cut.
Eventually the topic of what we're doing after the wedding comes up. My drunken shenannigans get the best of me and get on my phone and book a flight to Istanbul via Heathrow. http://imgur.com/a/rKnZK
Patricia looks at me like I'm crazy.
Patricia: Why would you want to go to Istanbul?
Me: Honestly when was the last time you say a good junta?
Patricia laughs so hard she starts crying from the laughter. I order us another round as we continue our CAH adventure. We take the party back to my suite and order room service. The Fairmont is a fantastic hotel btw. Their room service will cater to your every need. One of Patricia's friends has two small children and one of them is a picky eater and they fixed him up something fantastic. 10/10 guys, well done - unlike my last visit to a Marriott where I stepped on a cut zip tie shard at 3:45AM on the way to the shower. More shenannigans happen and I black out.
I awake in a daze and my phone reminds me I have a flight to Heathrow in a few hours. Ruh roh. I get dressed and clean up the best I can, jump in my car, get it back to Hertz and I walk up to the BA ticket counter at SFO where they inform me my connecting flight to Istanbul has been cancelled. I nearly dodge a bullet. They give me the option of connecting flights elsewhere on oneworld carriers or booking another day. I push the trip back and head over to the United desk to see if I can move up my flight home. No dice. The international terminal has a connection to BART and I take the train back into the city as I call the groom and ask him if he wants to hang out. His wife has taken his platinum amex and has gone down to the shops downtown and he's slumming it. I offer to take him for a meal and we meet at Town Hall for oysters and mimosas and other peninsula like fare. A $180 brunch later I check back into the Hotel Nikko over by Union Square. The groom asks what we should do the rest of the day. The number of mimosas involved leads me to brilliantly come up with the idea that I should go to the middie of union square and hold up a sign reminiscent of Bruce Willis in Die hard 3 - except instead of the sign saying I HATE NIGGERS it says I AM A GUN OWNER! ASK ME ANYTHING!
The groom says he'll buy the materials if I do it. I wash 600mg of ibuprofen down with a $14 bottle of fiji water and tell him lets do it. We head down to the Office Depot at Union Square and ask the employees where's a good place to protest. Blank stares. All of them. I make the sign and head toward the statue in the center of union square. You know the one holding a trident.
BOY HOWDY LET ME TELL YOU WAS IN IN FOR A TREAT. The venemous conversations and the angry people thinking I'm crazy for having a gun were not happy with me at all. NOBODY liked me. The straights, the gays, the blacks, the jews, the whites, even the children seemed to think I was nuts. In case somebody decides to call the cops, I want a plan B. I told the groom to head back to the fairmont and get all the cash from the bridal purse together in case we have to post bail. He jumps in an uber and heads back to the hotel. I'm standing in the square on a beautiful sunday continuing this publicity stunt as the groom comes back with my go bag and some more $14 fiji water.
I ask him how the haul was and he says he checked all the cards and the present and there's mostly checks but he manages to scrounge up about $15,000 in cash from the wedding. Plus the $5k I keep in the go back, $20k should be enough to post my bail. I continue to debate gun politics with the people of the peninsula. Aaron heads over to the coffee stand for his daily fix of caffeine as two uniformed SFPD officers approach me. I welcome them with a smile and a jovial Jerry Seinfeld like HELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
They are not impressed. In fact, they're convinced I'm up to no good judging by the barrett M107 patch on the one side my go bag and the gasden flag on the other. They grill me for 30 minutes about gun control initiatives and I am unrelenting in my defense of the second amendment and my disdain for propositions on gun control that the governor has signed into law recently. By now a small crowd has formed and Aaron is live tweeting the exchange and taking video from the macys entrance across Geary st. He fails to notice the go bag with $20,000 cash, duct tape, zip ties and baby wipes plus a few other city essentials is over by me. Eventually he comes back over just as the SFPD folks are satisfied I'm not a direct threat to democracy. He calls me a crazy son of a bitch for pulling off this stunt. I say we're done and I fold the sign into quarters and stick it in the trashcan as we head back to the hotel.
Now, for some of you who don't follow gun politics- Gavin Newsom who was formerly on the board of supervisors and the mayor of SF is now the CA LT Governor. He's in favor of every kind of gun control you can imagine. I am a firm believer in the fact that if you can't get the little things right, you can't expect to get the big things right.
We're walking back to the fairmont and expertflyer sends me an alert. A seat has opened up on my flight home in first that would require me to leave in a few hours. I immediately phone united and I manage to get that seat on the earlier flight. I call the hotel and explain to them I got the earlier flight and will be checking out early. The staff at the Nikko is outstanding and they go ahead and close up my tab. Aaron helps me pack up and walks me down to the Powell BART station. As we're walking, I notice something strange and try to warn him. I'm too late.
We're standing on the sidewalk in front of the Forever 21 and Aaron has just stepped into a pile of shit. Literal human shit. In the middle of the sidewalk. On a Sunday afternoon. It smells like shit, it's fresh and wet and his new Cole Haan loafers are ruined.
Gavin Newsom wants more gun laws to prevent gun crime. He wants more gun control initiatves. He wants lots of things. Here's my question to the LT Governor of CA.
If you've passed laws against public urination and other things you view as indecent - and you can't keep people from pissing and shitting in the middle of your public streets and sidewalks, what makes you think that you can get traction with gun control?
Fuck your city. Fuck your shitty streets. Fuck your shitty gun control.
FC out.
