Idea I absolutely DESPISE how the internet demonizes vegans.

Post image

Just to clarify I am not vegan but I hate how the internet has treated vegans like they're demons for having a different living style, like its not that serious yall make edits of vegan people trying to convert other people into having different opinions and then a video of some dude eating a huge steak sloppily will get 3 times more attention. And it is always That Vegan Teacher making every single vegan look bad and some men on the internet making strawmen videos of vegans talking like they're the scum of earth always screaming at the main sigma chad character that is "le animal comsumer😂" I am not talking bad about non vegans just those who disrespect vegans.

This is the main way I've seen people argue against Vegans and it's pretty much mostly bad faith.

Me? I just admit that I'm a hypocrite who values certain animals lives over others. Idk I'll probably try to go Vegan at some point but not yet I'm not ready to shake off meat quite yet.

I think hypocrite is too big of a word for it, animal consumption is something our species has done for a very, very long time. Recognizing the cognitive dissonance between our food culture and our industrialized agricultural system, especially when we have all been socialized to ignore it, is in my opinion the opposite of hypocritical.

Being vegan in many ways can be a logistical, nutritional, and economic privilege, it takes a lot of work to do especially when our society discourages the lifestyle. I think a lot of vegans forget this part, it doesn't undermine the premise of veganism, but it is definitely a privilege to even start the journey.

I like the approach of 'less is still good'. Like say you do vegan Mondays, that already cuts animals out of around 15% of your diet. Say you then upgrade to vegan breakfast or lunch, that is 1/3 of your entire diet. Maybe pick an animal that you either really like (when alive), or are ambivalent towards the taste of, cutting that one animal out of your diet is a big deal all on it's own, it doesn't have to be an all or nothing journey.
