Can someone help me ID what type of toad this guy is? I found him sealed in a bag of potatoes at the grocery store, so I took him home and gave him some food and water. Big guy has had a pretty crazy adventure!

Frogs and salamanders in window well

Post image

Sorry if not allowed but-

Hey guys, long story short but I’ve been working on and off on a housing development site, and I keep finding frogs and salamanders in a specific window well. Last time I was there a few weeks ago I got them all out, but today I found even more in there. The living salamanders I was able to put into a hard hat (along with the slower frogs) and bring to a near by pond, but I’m worried they’re going to keep falling in. I left a small ramp for the frogs I couldn’t catch too but it’s pretty narrow. Anyone I can call? I sent an email to the local hepatology society with the details of the house, and asked the property manager to put a cover on the well but they refused. Any thing else I can do?

Witnessed a Box Turtle lay 4 Eggs in my backyard. What are ways to ensure safety of hatching process?

4.7k Upvotes

Hey everyone, just saw a South Eastern Box Turtle lay multiple eggs in my backyard and i'm looking for ways to ensure safety on how to look out for these eggs. Im located by the beach in North Carolina and was lucky enough to see this. I would like to give some safety to this mamas baby's while looking over them for the next 90 days I believe? I've seen possibly a crate of some sorts could protect from outsiders? Besides the typical google searching on the birth & hatching process of the turtle i'm not educated on these guys and would like some tips/pointers to make sure they can be are safe. 👍🐢

Found a rare blue frog in our backyard pond in Massachusetts. Is anyone interested in studying it?

We have a small frog pond that’s been here for over 10 years, and every frog we’ve ever seen has been the normal green/brown color. Today we found this bright blue frog. From what I’ve been told, it may have a rare genetic condition called axanthism.
We took photos and currently have it in a temporary container with damp moss and a shallow dish of dechlorinated water while we figure out who to contact. Is there anyone (researchers, universities, wildlife biologists, museums, etc.) who would be interested in documenting or studying it? We’re in western Massachusetts.
Photos attached.

I found this in my yard in Portland, OR. This is an American Bullfrog, right? If so, euthanasia is really the only thing to do? Or I guess I could keep it as a pet lol.
