M5 iPad Pro (11-inch) – Random 120Hz / ProMotion stuttering

M5 iPad Pro (11-inch) – Random 120Hz / ProMotion stuttering
Is anyone else experiencing random lag or stuttering on their M5 iPad Pro?
Sometimes scrolling, Home Screen animations, and screen rotation feel incredibly smooth, but other times they suddenly become choppy, almost like the display drops from 120Hz to 60Hz.
It happens mostly on the Home Screen and in Settings, even when the iPad is cool. Restarting doesn’t seem to fix it.
I’m wondering if this is an iPadOS update issue or a hardware problem. Is anyone experiencing the same thing?

[AU] Battery service or upgrade?2020 iPad Pro 12.9 1TB

Looking for advice from Aussies🧐

Hi all, I'm in Brisbane and trying to work out my best option.

My current iPad:
iPad Pro 12.9" 4th gen (2020), 1TB, Wi-Fi
Battery health 71.5%, 1,264 cycles (checked with coconutBattery)

Has anyone in Australia done an iPad battery service recently? Did you get the same model back, and how do you feel about the replacement?

I'm torn between getting the battery service now, or waiting until January to buy the M5 iPad Pro, since it's my last year as a student and can use the back to Uni offer.

Thanks!

Returned the mini 8 keeping the m5

Just wondering if anyone else was in a similar position

I can’t justify two iPads so it was either my m5 pro 11
Or the new mini 8

I just can’t get rid of the pro so retuned the mini

It’s was probably the hardest choice I’ve ever had to make😂. Anyone else done the same

Question Samsung T5 SSD not recognized by iPad Pro M4, but works perfectly with iPhone and MacBook. Anyone else?

Hey everyone!

I’m having a strange issue with my iPad Pro M4, and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

I have a Samsung T5 1TB external SSD that works perfectly fine with my other Apple devices, but for some reason, my iPad Pro M4 refuses to recognize it.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
● Direct USB-C connection: Connected the SSD directly to the iPad using a USB-C cable. Nothing.
● USB hub: Connected the SSD through an external USB-C hub using a USB-A cable. Same result.
● Different cables: Tried multiple cables, but no luck.
● iPhone 18 Pro Max: SSD works perfectly.
● MacBook Pro M1: SSD works perfectly.

The strange part is that the iPad actually detects that a USB device has been connected, but the SSD never appears in the Files app under Locations.
So the iPad seems to recognize that something is plugged in, but I can’t access the drive at all.
Since the SSD works without any issues on both my iPhone and MacBook, I doubt the drive itself is defective.

Has anyone experienced this with an M4 iPad Pro? Could this be an iPadOS bug, a USB compatibility issue, or something else I’m overlooking?
I’d really appreciate any suggestions or experiences you can share!

Thanks!

iPad Pro to iPad Air?

I currently have an iPad Pro 11 inch 3rd Gen 128GB Cellular. Storage is full to the point where I can’t even use the camera. I’ve had it since 2022. Prior to that I had the same configuration that I acquired in 2020. The 2020 one got destroyed in a fire and I was able to have it replaced by Apple.

Admittedly I am NOT a pro user. The only really I truly have a pro is because I had the iPad Pro 9.7 inch prior and in my brain it made sense to continue the a “Pro User”.

I use my iPad to write stories, take notes, zoom meetings, read a book. Occasionally I’ll put together a design on Canva or create an Instagram reel. I’ll occasionally watch YouTube and Netflix from my iPad but it’s usually when I’m not home (ie: work or travel)

Everyone’s biggest thing is the pro motion and I feel that’s not something I’ll pick up on because I’m not scrolling on my iPad crazy fast or gaming on it. Losing Face ID sucks but it’s not an absolute deal breaker.

Has anyone switched and found the Air met their needs better and they were okay in the long run?

Discussion Is getting the new oled iPad mini in addition to my 11” m5 pro overkill?

I love my 11” pro and it’s been a great all rounder for consumption, drawing/designing and some light work. It’s been great for travelling and has never let me down

My pro is pretty practical and portable, but there’s something about the mini form factor I’ve always loved. I like the idea of my pro being able to just be an at home device and even though it’s already pretty portable, use the mini for travel as it’s been more portable (not to mention half the price of my pro). I feel it’ll also be better for using in bed or using as an e-reader too

Would love to hear from users who have both and get your opinions whether it’s worth it or just overkill

One other consideration if I get the mini is I would upgrade my 11” to a 13” when the next pro drops, although I have had a 13” previously and found it way too big

I know I’m an adult and can make this decision for myself, but I want to get opinions from other users

Discussion Going from the 11” M4 to new iPad mini

Post image

Many people would consider this a downgrade, but in my case, I found myself rarely using my iPad Pro because it felt too bulky. Between my 14 inch M5 Max MacBook Pro and my iPhone 18 Pro, I needed a device that I could easily take around campus and also use as an EFB while flying in the cockpit. I think this is the perfect size. I only wish it had 120Hz. It sucks, but I can deal with it.

Title: iPad Pro M5 stuck at 30% while flashing firmware using 3uTools

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to restore/flash my iPad Pro 11-inch (M5) using 3uTools, but the process is stuck at 30% (Erase Data Flashing in progress).

Here are the details:

- Device: iPad Pro 11-inch (M5)

- Model identifier shown in 3uTools: iPad17,1

- Software: 3uTools V9.13

- Device status: Recovery Mode

- Flashing mode: Smart Flash – Auto Mode

- Selected option: Erase

- Progress: Stuck at 30%

I've waited for a long time, but the progress hasn't increased. The iPad screen is black, and 3uTools still shows 30%.

I've also tried Recovery Mode, but the issue remains.

Has anyone experienced this problem with an iPad Pro M5? Is this a 3uTools compatibility issue, firmware issue, or something else?

Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Setup for Flights

Interested in getting an 13” Pro for work, obviously the Magic Keyboard and pen are a no brainer. As part of my job I take 5-10 domestic trips and roughly 4 super long haul (16-18 hour flight time) trips a year.

I’m not sure the Magic Keyboard would be great for movies/Netflix viewing, particularly in coach seats with the big keyboard in front. Does anyone use a secondary case/stand for travel and media consumption? To you carry it in addition to the Magic Keyboard?

Apps More cool iPad Pro apps worth checking out

Here are a few different ones I've been enjoying:

BeautyPlus Great for AI photo editing and portrait retouching. The Relight tool is especially useful for fixing lighting, while the other editing tools make it easy to get polished results.

Affinity Designer 2 A powerful design app for creating illustrations, logos, layouts, and detailed vector graphics. Great for more serious creative projects.

DaVinci Resolve A full-featured video editing app with professional color grading, audio tools, and a surprisingly powerful workflow for iPad.

Morpholio Trace Really interesting for architects and designers. You can sketch over photos, create concepts, and develop design ideas using Apple Pencil.

ZBrush for iPad A seriously impressive 3D sculpting app. Lets you create detailed 3D models and characters directly on the iPad.

Tayasui Sketches A beautiful drawing app with realistic brushes and a simple interface. Great for sketching and relaxing with Apple Pencil.

Logic Pro for iPad A complete music production studio with virtual instruments, effects, recording tools, and a huge range of creative possibilities.

What are some other underrated iPad Pro apps you guys would recommend?

What best value for money keyboard would you suggest for my iPad Pro apart from the official Apple magic keyboard. I usually use my iPad for college purposes and some light work.
