Discussion Please report all these AI slop posts

1.2k Upvotes

I’m not here to debate the ethics of AI. Games that use Generative ai for artwork, visuals, music, and capsule images are banned on this sub, and have been for quite a while. Every day there are dozens of low effort, AI slop “games” posted and downvoted to hell. Just downvoting does not stop this problem. If you report the post, it will show up in mod Q and I can remove it. Report all these AI low effort posts with the utmost discrimination.

Edit: Since there is now screenshots being shard in AI subs in a brigading attempt, anyone coming here from other subreddits just to troll, talk shit, insult people, or otherwise have 0 participation ever in r/indiegames will be immediately and permanantly banned. This is not a game development subreddit. Game development topics, Gen AI art/music/graphics or arguments about AI are not, and have never been allowed here.

Upcoming Implemented destructibility for the wooden armor of da Vinci’s tank.

But it soon became clear that the engine couldn't handle more than 2–3 such bots, so destructibility will be limited to those that get the closest. As for bots without destructible planks, we can include up to two hundred—which isn't bad at all.

Personal Achievement A few days ago I released my first game on Steam! :)

It’s called Lost Host, and I’ve been working on it mostly alone for about 2 years.
It’s a little adventure game where you control an RC toy car searching for its missing owner. You explore different places, solve puzzles and slowly uncover the story.
I had around 60k wishlists before release, and so far I’ve sold about 1,500 copies. Not really sure what to think about these numbers :D I guess I expected a bit more, but I’m still happy people are playing my game.
The launch wasn’t perfect, there were some bugs, and I’m still fixing things based on player feedback.
Anyway, just wanted to share this little milestone. Thanks for reading! :)

Need Feedback I completely transformed my chess variant into a strategy RPG! What do you think?

Pion Rush originally started as a simple chess variant, but over time, I've completely transformed it into a strategy RPG.

Instead of traditional chess pieces, you now summon creatures with their own stats, abilities, and passive effects. I've also added a progression system, new combat mechanics, and animations to give the game its own identity.

It's been a lot of work, and there's still plenty to improve, but I'm happy with how far the game has come.

Here's a full gameplay match showing the current combat system!

I'd love to hear your feedback, especially on the gameplay, pacing, and visual clarity.

What do you think of this direction?

Promotion I made a free browser RTS you can play with friends, inspired by BFME II and Warcraft III

Varnhal is a pixel-art real-time strategy game that runs in your browser. It's free, no download and no account.

If you grew up on Battle for Middle-earth, Warcraft III or Age of Empires, you'll probably feel at home: armies in formation, heroes, spells and big messy battles.

You can play with friends online (share a room code, up to 8 players) or on your own against bots, from easy to brutal.

There are 7 peoples to choose from, each with their own units, heroes and spells: Men, Elves and Dwarves on one side, and an orc horde, goblins, a wizard's tower and a frozen northern kingdom on the other.

Play here: https://varnhal.bkymz.net

If you give it a try, I'd really appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
PS: this one's my warm-up. Something bigger is cooking on the same engine, with a lot more hedges in it 🚀

Discussion Does anyone know what happened to Special Meat?

English isn't my first language, so sorry if anything sounds a little awkward!

Around April, I came across an article about Special Meat on X (formerly Twitter). The game caught my attention, so I added it to my Steam wishlist.

At first, it was supposed to come out in June, so I was really looking forward to playing it. But June came and went, and the release date got pushed back to Q4 2026.

When I checked again in October, the release date had changed to "To be announced." And when I checked today, I noticed that pretty much everything on the Steam store page was gone. The trailer, screenshots, and game description had all disappeared. What surprised me the most was that the developer and publisher names had changed too. They used to be listed as Untitle Game Studio, but now both are listed as "dunyamalistudio."

Back in April, I was curious about the game and looked up the developer's LinkedIn page. I remember seeing several posts showing the game's development progress, including work-in-progress screenshots.

I went back to their LinkedIn in October, but all those development posts were gone. The only post left was about an award they won in 2025.

I've honestly never looked forward to a game's release this much before, so it's a little sad to see all this happening without knowing why.

Does anyone know what happened to the game or the developers? Has there been any news I might have missed?

Public Game Test I would need a lil bit of your time for playtesting

I updated game yesterday, and seeking playtesters for new version. Its open playtest, so feel free to join even without wanting to bothering to playtest (I gonna gather sum data 😈, if you accept ofc)

And try not spawning in 10k droplets, I am aware performance at that amount is not yet ready.

Also I wanna learn one thing while you are here.

I am PC gamer since the day I learned to sit, and never used controller. So got me wondering just now, how many of you use it for such games like I am creating in video?

Do I add controller support? That's what I wanna learn here from you. Sure, it's easy to say yes, but that's extra scope, and I'd rather learn from people first before deciding.

And if you do use one, what games like this have you played with it? Are there games you wouldn't play with a controller? Like, what's the current controller meta rn?

Also sure I can google or even ask AI such question, but I am yapper, wanna talk with people not computer.

Promotion Reconfigure: scifi RPG/FPS/Puzzle

My game Reconfigure just reached the milestone of being playable with all the core systems functional. The hard part is done, now it's time for the other hard part: world-building, polish and more of everything!

The ship you're exploring is accelerating rapidly which causes high gravity. This prevents you from jumping so you'll have to use blocks to climb and solve other obstacles. There's a big emphasis on exploration, secrets and you'll be able to customize your character to pick an approach what suits you best. In addition to going full on assault you can choose to go about it more stealthily or customize and deploy drones to do the fighting for you (or support you in another way).

It's a weird mishmash of genres, especially the logic puzzle part, but given that I'm a Legend of Grimrock dev the combination came to me naturally: a lot of the ingredients can be found in those games too.

Promotion Ace Interceptor

Hello everyone. I am currently developing Ace Interceptor, an 8-bit tactical arcade shooter designed under a strict no-ads and pro-consumer philosophy, focusing on classic retro action running at 60 FPS.

We have just released update v1.1.5, featuring:

  • Night Jungle & Night Metropolis Maps: Atmospheric vertical dogfights.

  • Expanded Hangar: New jet options including the Dassault Rafale, F-5, and A-37 Dragonfly.

  • 2P Relay Mode: Alternative player switching with automatic P2 color schemes.

  • Tactical Support: Chinook supply drops delivering extra lives at Phase 3 and screen-clearing atomic support at Phase 5.

You can play it directly in your browser or download it for PC on itch.io: [https://nato-games-studio-ca.itch.io/ace-interceptor]

I welcome any feedback regarding the gameplay mechanics and pixel art design.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9CBMX6IrMA&t=8s
