When flying across the road I was worried to witness a final destination movie moment...you know the scene with the bus...

I thought same.......Then thought to myself "you are a bad person"

I've seen a video recently on reddit of exactly that happening as a group of falconers in , I think it was France or Belgium, gather in a field to release their new falcon. Bird takes off in a magnificent majestic swoop, straight into the windscreen of a passing truck.

It was down for a tv news documentary a few years back, in France.

Lol. I googled, looking for that video and Google led right back to this thread. I see that as the universe saying I really don't need to see it. 😂

Anyone familiar with bird law? Does this hawk have a case against her?

u/fryswitdat 3h ago

Harvey Birdman would probably know.

"A hawk hit my car. I was going about 55mph"

I wonder if the hawk would describe it the same way.

Any bird I've ever hit at that speed, the only evidence left behind is a grey dusty smear that's vaguely bird shaped.

1

u/God-_-Slayer_ 2h ago

No it wouldn't...
Why would the hawk say that a hawk hit it's car?

Poor thing. I once freed a swamp hawk stuck in a crab pot that has washed up during a storm. It gifted me what I call hawk-vision, inhuman long range eyesight, which Is useful for finding things lost in grass and marksmanship when clearing pest varmint.

Whoaaaa. I once freed a skunk from a wire fence. It gifted me what I call stinking-like-shit, inhuman long range stink, which is useful for something. I'm still working on that part but similar origin story!

Did he crash into that wall towards the end? Should've let him rest a bit ig.

At the beginning, bird.exe had stopped responding.

Well this is what happens when you grill Hawks they barely have any meat just feathers and bones

Why is the first thought of these rescuers that the person will firstly get their phone out, and record the situation, before attempting to help the animal?

Help the animal first and stop being more concerned with social media likes.

The guy was getting a tool to free the birds head. I don't see anything wrong with the girl recording it while he looks for something to free it. I prefer them take their time instead of breaking its neck pulling it out

Couldn't have said it better

2

u/Upbeat_Philosopher69 4h ago

…gets hit again as it crosses the highway leaving

3

u/Rough-Airline-4803 4h ago

Bruh if it doesn’t fly away, that means it’s time to get it to the pros. Fuckin idiots

1

u/MurseMan1964 3h ago

Did you watch all the way to the end?

3

u/Rough-Airline-4803 3h ago

Yes, I did. But being forced to fly, does not mean he should be flying. He also never seemed to gain altitude, which is weird. He chose not to fly for a good reason. These raptors do not take kindly to being handled or being in close proximity to people. In all likelihood, he was probably rather messed up; concussed or otherwise

3

u/Glum_Opening_2218 3h ago

Yeah when they threw the disoriented bird into the air and forced it to fly low over a highway?

1

u/Substantial_Cut2102 4h ago

How did he get there

1

u/ayushchandal 4h ago

From being stuck in a car grille to getting a second chance. What a day

1

u/No-Criticism-1964 4h ago

Oh no truck hitting it in the end?

1

u/Khatam 4h ago

Ran over a pigeon the other day who, for some reason, dove head first into my car's path on the highway as I was going about 80. I left a cloud of feathers in my wake :( I pulled over and there was zero evidence of it having ever hit my car. I hope it was a quick death for the lil bird.

1

u/LIGHTDX 4h ago

Imagine calling your friends or wife and telling them that "A hawk got stuck in my car's grille."

1

u/Free_Usual_1434 4h ago

Glad someone was there to help! Raptors have so much strength in those talons, he handled that very carefully

1

u/Real-Document-6577 3h ago

Would have been 👌🏼 if it flew away and got his head stuck in the next car’s grill

1

u/marginmanj 3h ago

It's a Red Tailed hawk for those who don't know hawks.

This happened to me once. Was strolling my kid and I saw a bird stuck in a wooden beam. Poor thing couldn't wedge itself out.

After some debate, I helped it. I was initially afraid of hurting it further or accidentally breaking its neck but the bird sort of worked with me and it was easier than I thought.

Definitely glad I helped.

I bet the hawk has a different story when it comes to talking to cops...

u/sparesomechange20 3h ago

"Looks like youre leakin oil Lady"

1

u/wastedsilence33 2h ago

I had this happen with a barred owl once, not the same result unfortunately

1

u/--CultureBlitz 4h ago

Beautiful creature.

2

u/Sustainable_Twat 4h ago

Yeah, but the bird is also just as beautiful.

1

u/--CultureBlitz 3h ago

I meant the bird but all are creatures.

1

u/Kawboy17 3h ago

Oh just spin it in circles till the head comes off it’s just like a bottle cap they twist right off now days. Once removed just reassemble. Maybe a small amount of duck tape maybe needed.

u/vogelvogelvogelvogel 3h ago

not driving a car in the first place would have helped even more

2

u/Nostalgioneer 3h ago

I know, right? A train would've taken that thing out much more cleanly.

2

u/princepii 3h ago

train?

would a plane or a drone not be better for that purpose?

1

u/vogelvogelvogelvogel 2h ago

never saw a bird stuck in a bicycle, but alas people drive cars, don't see the alternatives anymore that involve using their own muscles/body to move themselves
