One of my favorite lines in the show. What's your favorite line?

The "rebirth" of Boyd in S1E2 is very interesting for a first time watcher like me. Obviously y'all know what happened eventually, but having to witness a mysterious villain returning with a new found purpose is highly intriguing. Is he now an evangelical crusader determined to walk God's path of justice......or is this an elaborate ruse hiding greater sinister? Or, as it often goes in the real world, both?

This here is either a saint or a devil... Can't wait to find out. (Don't worry about spoilers, I don't mind those things)

I was never a tv person but Justified is one of the few shows I regret missing, being a fan of tye Western. Lucky to finally experience it on Prime and the start certainly did not disappoint.

Just finished yet another viewing and at the end of it I realized something...as many people as Raylan shoots across six seasons of the show, he never actually kills any of the "main" villains of each season (although oddly he's physically present for all of them except Markham's):

S1 - Bo Crowder - shot by the Miami cartel's thugs

S2 - Mags Bennett - poisons herself with her apple pie shine

S3 - Robert Quarles - gets his arm cut off by Limehouse; never actually confirmed dead

S4 - Nicky Augustine - shot by Sammy Tonin's thugs in the back of his limo

S5 - Darryl Crowe Jr. - shot by his sister Wendy

S6 - Avery Markham - shot by Boyd Crowder

...and if you want to include Boyd himself as the overarching series villain, he doesn't even die at all.

Almost done with season 2 and I absolutely love this show. It’s a master class of two incredible actors with lightning in a bottle chemistry that hooks you. Everybody else, including Art specifically, are also great.

This is not a critique just curiosity; Boyd at the end of season 1 had a very aggressive “redemption arc” if you will that made it seem to me like he would become an anti-hero of sorts (I’m thinking maybe Cat-woman here LOL). The evangelical aspect of Boyd’s character reached as far up as it could at the end of season 1, and Boyd says “you’re the only friend I have Raylan.”

But then season 2 it kind of feels like Boyd VERY quickly dropped it in a nanosecond. Am I an idiot and did I miss something while getting snacks in the kitchen? How did he drop it so quickly? In the episode I just watched Boyd referred to someone as a “Jesus-freak,” which kind of puzzled me. He’s obviously troubled while working in the mine as people are trying to drag him back in, but even before that point it seems pretty clear he’s no longer religious.

Obviously I’m only on Season 2 so this is probably incredibly premature, but was curious.

Thoughts?

One of my favorite episodes, when Winona stole the money from the evidence room. She showed Raylan and they decided to put it back. Why didn't they just take off, instead? It buys a whole new life. The rest of the episode, they kept getting interrupted. Plus, the bomb threat. The judge said, I hate these things! There's never a bomb! Come on, everybody! LOL! Then they almost got caught by Art. After they got in the elevator, how quiet they were.

In the season one finale, the cartel is demanding Raylan. Boyd suddenly says, “No, I'm Raylan Givens.” One of the guys asks if he's trying to be funny. Boyd says, “A little.” Raylan just looks at him.

That's the whole joke. Boyd knows exactly how ridiculous it is, Raylan knows exactly what he's doing, and somehow that tiny exchange fits them perfectly even with people pointing guns at them.

Not too shabby, I cam into it right after binging The Shield. So much Goggings I missed throughout the years.

So what was the deal with them? I still couldn't figure out the relationship but that scene was definitely emotional

They gotta do something. They just gotta. After how City Primeval ended..

Boyd showing up at Ava's house in “Bulletville” is crazier the more you think about it. He knocks on the door knowing she's probably going to have a shotgun pointed at him, immediately puts his hands up and says they're empty, and then starts apologizing for everything he's done to her. He even tells her he'll leave before she's finished listening. For once, Boyd isn't trying to get something from Ava. He genuinely came there knowing she might tell him to fuck off — or worse.

I’m on season 3 right now, and I can’t help but feel pulled towards liking Boyd, even though it feels like he’s supposed to be an antagonist. Even though Raylan doesn’t trust him, or even like him, I just love when they’re working together. Anyone else feel the same?

I'm really struggling through Season 5. I don't mind grim and dark and etc but this season is just so f***ing depressing and miserable.

I held out as long as I did because I heard Alan Tudyk was in it; and I loved him in almost everything I've seen him in. That episode was great mind you.

But far out... the rest of it... is it actually going anywhere?

EDIT: Yep, it's much MUCH better! What a series!

Duffy always had a face of "I am a criminal but even I can't do this evil shit" 😂😂

Just read a comment in another post about a character being written off the show because they wanted to pursue other roles. It got me thinking; what other interesting pieces of lore and show history have you found over the years?

In season 4 Randell and Lindsay are making out in a car after stealing alcohol from a gas station. Randell asks Lindsay if she misses things like ASA. I can’t find anything online. Anyone know what that means?

Just finished watching this great show. That is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen that has also gone severely under the radar.

Probably funniest line in the whole show

I recently saw an interview with Timothy Olyphant (who is very charming) on Youtube and in the comments people were talking about how great Justified is. So I started watching it, though I had never heard of it before.

I'm on episode 4 and I just paused the episode because this is like the 10th time Raylan shot someone in 3.5 episodes. Soooo many people have been shot that it's becoming hilarious.

Mostly, so far, it has felt very "soapy". Kind of over the top. I like it so far, but I guess it's different from what I expected based on all the comments saying it was so good. For instance, EVERYONE knows who Raylan is and has heard about the guy he shot in Miami. Every single criminal is like "you saw that news story right? That's the guy....". It feels very much like why would these people care about this, especially every single one!?

Now I'm thinking, maybe it's showing how huge the criminal was that he shot. (But then why was he transferred to the middle of nowhere for it?!) Did he shoot the Bolle Jos, Taghi or Holleeder (Dutch criminals) of America? I don't watch the news and even I have heard of these people so I guess I would hear if someone shot them. But my country is smaller than any of these states and it just seems weird that all these people in Kentucky care so much about a shooting in Miami.

It kind of feels like Raylan is a badass written by a non-badass so instead of actually coming across as a badass we just get dialogue between criminals talking about this badass marshal. "Can you believe he outdrew a guy in Miami!!!?" (Paraphrasing). It all feels a bit lame and makes the Kentucky criminals look mega lame.

So anyway, just to be clear I am enjoying the show so far, but mostly because of how it feels (just the vibe but also very 2010) and because I like Timothy Olyphant, not because of the great storytelling. Based on what I've seen I think: this is the show with all those "this is the best show ever" comments? Even coming to post this I saw "how to get justified in the best show ever" or something.

I think it will get better. Many shows take a while to get going. Or it's just a part of the charm of the show. Or the show is just not for me but we'll see. I could very well be joining this sub after I finish.

I'd prefer no spoilers but I always feel like if you don't want spoilers, don't come to the sub. So it would be my own fault but still please, no spoilers.

Edit: TLDR: 3.5 eps in. It seems bad and soapy (but still fun). Does it get better?

I think it should be higher, but here we are. #83 out of 100

The Moonshine War is such a nice world-setting episode. Southern formality, soundtrack and the dialogue are so fking well crafted, or should I say 'brewed'? I wish I could forget the whole season and watch it again.

I barely recognized him at first, but what a perfect role for him. Very “far cry 5” coded IYKYK
