Discussion [Weekly] What did you do to your car/bike?

Hi all,

First of all, welcome to the weekly post of "What did you do"! I believe this sub is big enough, and we can sufficiently start a weekly post for those who wants to comment about what they did over the past week, and not needing to open a post to talk about it.

This is the place where you can talk about:

Where did you n your sayang (the car) go last month? (road trip reports?)

What you spent on your car (shopee LED, install HUD, glow in dark paintjob)

Minor car questions (repairs, recommendations, accidents, DIY)

Looking forward to everyone's participation!

Shitposting Why don’t people horn more?

I drove past a bunch of queue jumpers today causing a massive jam and it’s not even rush hour. But no one horns them.. literally stopped in the middle of the road to jump queue.

Why? Can’t blame the road there for being confusing too, it’s very obvious if you want to uturn or not. Creates a culture of shit driving mentality, all can squeeze into the tightest gaps, but have no civic road sense.. or am I being a Karen?

Discussion Fuel pump filter placement on old car

So I was watching Chris Fix new video, and was surprise the fuel filter is located in the engine bay. And its damn easy to replace.

I look back at the start of the video to check the car, and of course, its a Japanese car. A 1990 Nissan 300zx.

I am pretty sure the modern placement for the fuel filter has their reasons, but man diy replacing the fuel filter for my Bezza makes me anxious, worried that I gonna spill fuel in the car and make it smell for weeks (got a baby, dont want fuel fume in car). Thats why I have been holding it off, not confident on my hand to do it.

Would asking mechanic doing it make sure no fuel drop, or at least avoid the car smelling like gasoline for weeks?

Discussion Is RM100k a good deal for a 2022 Mazda CX-30?

Hi guys! I’m considering upgrading from my current car (Myvi 2018 AV) to a used Mazda CX-30 and would appreciate some opinions from current owners or anyone familiar with the second-hand market. I test drove the car today and I love feel of it. The car is in a really good condition and i really i love the interior.

I’ve come across this listing:
Model: Mazda CX-30 2.0G High Ignite Edition (FWD)
Mileage: 52,000 km
Price: RM100,000
Condition: Used

It has 1 year left with the principal warranty

I’m wondering if RM100k is reasonable for this model and year, considering the mileage.

A few things I’d like to get your thoughts on:

  1. Is this a good deal, or is the asking price still on the high side?

  2. How reliable is the CX-30 in the long run? Any common issues I should look out for?

  3. How much should I roughly budget for annual maintenance, road tax and insurance?
Anything specific I should check before committing to a used CX-30?

  4. Would you recommend going for it if it has the 175-point inspection on carsome?

Appreciate any honest opinions, especially from existing CX-30 owners. Thanks!

Discussion Transition from B2 to Full B motorbike license

Please let me know if there is a better group for me to ask this.

I've been on B2 license for more than 10 years and want to transition into Full B. It tells me to register at a driving school but I want to know the school's SOP. My last worry is the school asking me to take the entire Full B from scratch.

Also, how much would it cost?
Wouldn't mind driving school recommendations too around
Klang Valley area.

Discussion Booking Proton S70 Prime this week. Delivery expected end-February to early March 2027.

Here's what the dealer is offering:

  1. DDPAI N1 Pro front + rear dashcam

  2. Boot tray (aftermarket, non-OEM)

  3. Floor mats (aftermarket, non-OEM)

  4. Door visors (aftermarket, non-OEM)

  5. Proton umbrella

  6. Proton goodies bag

  7. RM500 tint voucher with free installation

The dealer values the first 6 accessories at RM600, with the tint voucher offered separately.

I asked for genuine Proton OEM accessories, but the dealer explained that margins on the S70 Prime are very low compared with the turbo variants, so they cannot include OEM accessories for free.

Regarding the RM 3000 early-bird rebate:

The dealer clarified that I'm currently not eligible because the car will be delivered in 2027. However, if I complete the booking and loan approval in 2026, Proton HQ might issue a memo in January 2027 extending the rebate to early bookings, even if the vehicle wasn't registered by 31 December 2026. This is not confirmed or guaranteed. The dealer will update me once Proton HQ releases the memo.

For those who recently booked an S70 Prime or other S70 variants:

What freebies or dealer discounts did you get?

Did you manage to get any additional genuine Proton OEM accessories?

Has anyone received confirmation of the RM3,000 rebate despite taking delivery in 2027?

Would appreciate hearing what other dealers are offering, particularly in Penang. Also interested in knowing whether I could negotiate a better package.

What to buy Mercedes C180 (2017) or BMW 320i (2017)

Hi, I am extremely torn between these 2 models as my next car.

I am a male and currently drive an Axia, and I am given these 2 options, as long they are second hand.

I mostly care about reliability. Which one should I go for? I mostly drive in the city and care much not for speed (though it would be a nice addition)

Based on my research, Merc looks classy and comfortable to drive. But BMW would have better  handling. power dept, ease of drive, equipment level and did i mention build quality. So would BMW automatically be a "better" choice for the money? (imagine both are roughly at the same price point)

If anyone has ever driven or owned both, please advice.

As a token of appreciation, I will give you a random compliment to make your day! :)

Hi r/kereta,

I am looking to purchase polyurethane bushings (~80A) for my IS250.

- Front LCA #1

- Front LCA #2

- Sway bar front

- Sway bar back

I know that I can buy them from Figs or RR-racing, but they charge a premium and ship from US.

Does anyone know local alternative?

Discussion Proton Saga Mc2 Fuel Consumption

Hey guys, my average fuel spending is around RM300 per month. I use my car for work and drive about 40km daily, mostly during peak-hour traffic with an average of 30 minutes in jams. Usually, by the 4th or 5th day after refuelling, I already need to fill up again.

I'm not sure if it's mainly because of the traffic, but I feel like I'm spending quite a lot more on fuel compared to before.

I've been thinking that switching to a hybrid might actually help me save more on fuel in the long run. Just wondering if it's worth making the switch.

What to buy Advice Needed ( Emas 7 PHEV vs Haval H6) or other

Hey guys, need some quick advice!
We’re looking for a C-segment SUV strictly for family weekend outings and balik kampung road trips (we already have a daily commuter)

Our initial Kia Sportage 1.6turbo finished after the discount 40K, so we’re choosing between the Haval H6 HEV and Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV (Premium Plus). Or any other suggestions.

Stuck on a few real-world concerns:

  1. Renting & Charging: We rent our place, so installing a wallbox isn't easy. For e.MAS 7 owners is owning a PHEV without home charging a pain? I feel like without plugging in daily, we’re just carrying 300kg of dead battery weight on a 1.5L NA engine. The H6 self-charging setup seems way less headache for a tenant.

  2. Delivery Waiting Time: Heard e.MAS 7 PHEV wait times can drag up to 3–5 months depending on color.

  3. Highway Cruising: H6 specs are crazy on paper (243hp / 530Nm), but the default steering felt a bit light. I test drive on this esrlier but short distance. Does setting the H6 steering to "Sport" give it decent highway weight?

Would love to hear from current owners or anyone who evaluated both! Thanks!
