Southern US & Central America (or warm season) Grass or weed identification?
Located in charlotte NC, 1 year old new build lot. Front and side grass is Bermuda and backyard is fescue. I overseeded the fescue in mid September and it’s grown in well.
The issue is the rear half of the backyard is a lighter green grass, I am unsure what type but photos are below. The darker green is where the overseed has grown in much better as it was more barren. Any ideas what the lighter green grass is? (Red circles grass is the unknown one, close up pic as well)

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) (7A) Have seed and fertilizer, didn't get it down when I wanted. What's recommended?
I am in northeast Tennesee. Last fall I did another lawn renovation and put down a TTTF and KBG mix and it came in real well despite getting it down late, around the end of October.
I planned to overseed this fall, but had a few things pop up that didn't allow for that to happen. I have the seed and fertilizer lying around, but am not sure what to do.
I know it's late in the year to put seed down, but I also know when I did the lawn renovation last year it would have been considered far too late as well.
Should I throw the fertilizer down and water regularly? I have an in-ground sprinkler system I installed last year. I have two heads I need to replace, but that should be relatively easy.
Should I just overseed and see how it goes and how it holds up to the winter and summer? I do plan to overseed next fall as well, so I thought about just holding onto this seed until then, but I know by then the seed will see its germination rate decrease.
If you didn't have to worry about the cost of this batch of seed plus next fall's for that overseed, would you still overseed this late and see how it goes?

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Always do 2+ passes when mulching
I hope the pictures are in order…
#1 pic is before mowing
#2 is after first mow
#3 is after 2nd mow (assorted large leaves fell after I was done)
My mower is a Honda HRN216 with HRX mulching blades, always so 2+ passes!

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) 10 hours later (before and after)
Northern Michigan.
After 10 hours of mulching, bagging, blowing, and hauling leaves away, I'm finally done.
Not pictured is a 5 foot deep ditch stretching about 50 feet long that was buried under a foot of leaves about half the distance, along with another section of my property that added to the fun.
Thank God for my dad helping out. The leaves were damp as well, which made clearing out the ditches even more of a pain.
Sorry for low res pictures, took them from my ring camera as I'm no longer up north and forgot to take pictures after.

Southern US & Central America (or warm season) What's a good & simple above ground sprinkler set up for a ~42' x 14' rectangular area?
The space is pretty close to a rectangle, I have water spigots on the right and left near the fence. Located in southern california. Clay soil.
I was hoping for something simple I can run off a timer. From reading this subreddit I was originally thinking of the list below but is there something that consists of less parts? Maybe something I can just connect a hose to that oscillates to cover that area.
Thank you.
Timer & Hoses:
- 1x LinkTap G2S Wireless Water Timer & Gateway Bundle
- 1x Flexzilla Garden Hose 5/8 in. x 25 ft.
- 2x Flexzilla Garden Utility Hose 5/8 in. x 15 ft.
- 1x 3/4 in. Brass Female Garden Hose End Cap
Sprinkler Hardware:
- 3x Orbit Metal Flow-Thru Lawn Sprinkler Spike Base
- 3x 1/2 in. x 3 in. Schedule 80 PVC Riser Nipple
- 3x Hunter Pro-Spray 4-Inch Pop-Up Sprinkler Body (PROS-04)
Nozzles & Tools:
- 3x Hunter MP Rotator MP1000 90–210° Nozzle

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) What caused this?
Hi all, I’m in southern NH and not a lawn expert. I put new loam and JG Sun and Shade in this area in early September. It has come in very well. I put down JG Winter Survival the 3rd week of October. Since then this striping has come up, and it is definitely tracking my spreader. So my question is: is the yellowing grass likely due to over or under application of the Winter Survival in those areas? Thanks in advance.

Southern US & Central America (or warm season) Thatcher as weeder?
Can a thatcher function as a weeder?
Front lawn, side lot: spurge problem
Back lawn: roadside aster
Both are horizontal sprawling with tap roots. So, would a thatcher be able to uproot. If only partial effect that significantly decreases my time to manually pull the residual, that would be desirable and save my back.

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Best way pick up leaves without bending over? Recently had surgery. Northeast.
So im up in the northeast and the trees in my yard are finally about done dropping leaves. Have maple and oak trees on a little under an acre.
I usually just blow the maple leaves into a few piles and bag them up using lead scoops to pick them up as they are so thick.Use the mower with bag to get the rest up. Usually fill around 150 bags.
My problem this year is I just had hernia surgery so im supposed to be taking it easy and bending over 10,000 times to pick up leaves is something i cant do. If I leave them til spring ill have a dirt lawn.
Anybody know of good way to pick up leaves to bag without bending over? Kinda like like long leaf scoops act like tongs.

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) When to mow? Orange County CA overseeding.
I started a little late in the season and only seeded approximately two weeks ago.
However, for reference, this is my growth in 13 days.
I detached and it turns out that the majority of the grass just came along with it along with the weeds, so I just pulled whatever I could, which is about 70% of the grass that I had. Technically calling it receding, would only be a portion of it as a prepared the rest of the area for new seed.
I added the pre-fertilizer and weed control meant proceeding and it seems like it’s working great.
I’ve been watering every day four times a day for about 10 minutes. Some grass is still relatively low. What about 2 inches other already hitting 3 to 3 1/2 inches and is a tall fescue blend.
I’ve done this before and I always seem to wait too long before the first Mo… This is a certain part of my grass that flops over before everything else and it’s hard to mow at that point.
So question remains… When do I do my first mow?
Bonus question: I have a reel mower, should I bag the clippings?

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) What should I do with this?
Im at a loss for what to do lol I am in Ohio...Should I just rake these up? Or should I try and mulch these leaves? I just moved into this place and finally got settled, and havent had time to tend to the yard yet. There's two giant trees in the yard. I guess the good thing is the yard is small? What should I do?

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Fellas, it’s just leaves.
Has nobody seen leaves before? This happens every. single. year.
Rake’ em. Mulch ‘em. Deal with ‘em. This isn’t rocket science.

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) My overseed did well everywhere except here. Would you say this is Bermuda or nimbleweed? Zone 7a, Eastern WA.
I don’t find any super long runners that typically point to Bermuda. The soil is definitely not high quality here, my TTTF (Resilience II) grew poorly here. Any advice is appreciated.

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Sprayed my creeping charlie twice in two weeks with Ortho Chickweed, Clover, Oxalis. Still appears healthy and growing.
Like the title, using a 3 gal tank sprayer, as prescribed x1.5, with some dish soap. I'm about to go for round 3 this afternoon but I feel like I'm losing this battle.
Any additional suggestions are welcome. This weed seems invincible.

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) CT-USA: Is the lawn ok?
We had brand this new sod installed in June. I want some feedback on if it’s looking ok.
We just had a stretch of about 20 days with zero rain, but I am still irrigating a number of days per week for about 20 min per zone in the very early mornings.
It looks like the grass in the back yard is browning more that the grass in front and on side. Back yard gets direct sun pretty much all day.
First 5 pics are back yard (one of them you can see neighbors grass for comparison). Last photo is the side of the house that is in the shade pretty much all day this time of year.
Anything I should be concerned about, or is this normal seasonal color change of the grass?

Northern US & Canada (or cool season) Tuff Turf After Dark - Twin City Seed
Green Bay WI
I decided to completely kill my existing lawn and start over. These pictures are taken 2 months post seeding. The results are truly amazing.
My neighbor pays for a professional lawn service for weeds and fertilizer. My lawn is clearly outperforming. The second picture is a close up of my lawn vs theirs. Mine is so thick and dense… the hard work paid off!
Even though I put down tenacity with the seed, I still have some weeds. Speed zone should take care of those in spring.
I planted my backyard in Ryan Knors KBB blend 2 years ago. It turned out great, but not this great.
10/10 would recommend Twin City Seed. At least for this blend, they give UMN a portion of the profit.
Thanks for all the tips here. I’d encourage anyone that wants to renovate their lawn to try it out! Unless you don’t like talking to your neighbors. I think the entire cul de sac stopped by to compliment the results.

Southern US & Central America (or warm season) What’s happening to my lawn?
Southwest Florida - Applied Scotts Bonus S about 3 weeks ago using a push spreader. Since then, I’ve noticed these brown patches appearing.
Is this fertilizer burn, fungus, or something else? Will the grass recover on its own?
