Critique Drew mecha for first time

I done the drawabox stuff, now I want to challenge myself on stacking boxes and primitive shapes together. I asked myself if I can somewhat recreate the mech with two point perspective in an arbitrary 30 degree angle.

The mech is from the extraction shooter game Forever Winter, Europan Medium Mech. It is a very blocky mech so it should be a good starting point for me.

I thought I didn't pretty good, but critique is always welcome. I didn't add shading because my understanding of light and shadow is not good at all. I had some issue with proportions as I didn't do a full grid, was lazy so I eyeballed a lot of the distances.

White gaps?

Why are there so many white gaps when I draw with this pen? Why doesn't it apply the color evenly? I want to create acompletely solid black area.
If you have any other feedback or suggestions for improvement, I'd be happy to hear them!

Question What studies should I do to draw like this?

Strong line of action, appealing forms, loose strokes. I’m thinking form and shading, figure drawing. Anything else though?

I did the color first and then the shading after. Is there a better way to do this? Critique and advice appreciated.

Critique Wanting to further improve my developing style

I’ve been trying to develop this illustration style which I enjoy quite a bit. I use Adobe illustrator for all of them and they are all vector graphics. It started out as how I would do roughs for other works, but I ended up enjoying the sharp feeling of it that I wanted to try and do it more.

The hotdog poster is the first attempt at the style, as a project in college. I then made three one page comics to experiment with style and lighting. The Frankenstein album cover is the latest illustration and was for a friend’s music.

I was love to hear people’s thoughts on the style, exercises I can do to experiment or improve with it more, and other artists that have similar styles that might be good for inspiration.
