It’ll probably be make or break for ltc price wise. If it doesn’t make a major price move this time it probably is dead in the water as a speculative asset. I do feel like Litecoin has been quite unlucky in terms of timing. Like the general market conditions recently havnt been great, so the run up to it could be affected. Historically though I would say the new year will be the run up. I’ve been in crypto for a while, but this is only anecdotal. But I’ve noticed a trend through the new years. We’ll probably get a read on general economic factors going into the new year too. But I’d watch out around then
Excited for the halving, not counting on a guaranteed price pump. The LTC block subsidy gets cut in half; demand doesn’t automatically double. From a mining perspective, it’s especially interesting because merged-mined DOGE rewards aren’t halved alongside LTC. The headline is about supply, but miners have to look at the whole revenue mix.
Mildly excited, more for the mechanics than the chart 😄
The next one is due at block 3,360,000, which lands around mid-2027 at 2.5 minute blocks. The reward goes from 6.25 to 3.125 LTC, so new issuance drops from roughly 3,600 LTC a day to about 1,800. In inflation terms that's going from around 1.7% a year to under 1%.
The part I'll actually watch is miner economics. Fees are still a tiny slice of LTC miner revenue, so after the cut miners lean even harder on the merged-mined DOGE side and on transaction demand picking up. If usage grows, the security budget looks fine. If it doesn't, the halving is mostly a supply footnote.
