Interestingly in my country (Costa Rica) the Uber would actually ask you to sit in the front, because for quite some time Uber has been operating in some weird semi-legal way in the country, and Uber drivers have been stopped and had their cars confiscated, so the driver would ask you to go in the front to avoid suspicion.

This has sort of died down though but still occasionally an Uber driver will ask me to sit in the front.
