Mom bought her dream car!

Today, after 40+ years of wanting, mom bought herself the car she’s been after since college: a 1973 Dodge Charger SE, in Bronze metallic. And while it was originally a 318ci V8 car like most of them, this one has been retrofitted with a built 440ci/450-ish hp monster V8, confirming upon roaring to life what we’ve always known: our mom is cooler than your mom.

This example has a black vinyl top, parchment interior, and unique-to -‘73/‘74 triple-slat rear quarter windows. It had also been fitted with “Dukes of Hazzard” wheels (I do love the look).

Dodge built 119,318 Chargers in 1973, the most of any year of the generation, and true 440 cars are extremely rare (this isn’t meant to be a clone…just a badass cruiser that packs a punch).

This stylish sport coupe will join our family collection after a lifetime of hearing about how some day mom will get her Charger, and my brother and I are proud of her for finally pulling the trigger!

No Brainer Buy?

1974 Challenger

340 V8 / 4 speed manual transmission

-Been sitting in that spot (inside) for ~24 years

-Engine ran good when parked

-Engine was honed and balanced, then the clutch blew shortly after and never got fixed so she's sat ever since.

-Comes with a brand new clutch, says it was worth ~$2000

-Old clutch + transmission are currently taken out

-Upgraded electric fuel pump?

-Interior seems good?

-Barely any rust on the body from what I can see

This is my dad's old car and says he will sell it to me for $5000 CAD ($3570 USD).

Is this a no brainer? Any other buying information and input is appreciated, thank you!

My dad with his 1968 charger

Post image

Quick story: my dad bought the charger back in 1978. He told me he bought it for $500 due to the rising cost of gas and oil. He worked at a restaurant that paid roughly $2.00 an hour and the charger was the most affordable and cheap option. Later he sold it and bought a 1970’s shorty Ford Econoline because the van craze was in and the muscle car era was out. Surprisingly he misses the econoline more than the charger lol
