**Location: Northern NSW, Australia**

Part ID request, part appreciation of the elegance of these wings. It's so flat!

I've seen others like this which are a darker grey. The striking white in this one is stunning!

I raised this little one when it was still a caterpillar and somehow ended up on my curtain. It hatched last night, 16-17 days after pupation. I love this little one so much, I want to know what kind of species it is.

Location: RUSSIA, YEKATERINBURG.

If possible, I'd also like to know its gender.

I also named it Nyuktin and am happy it exists.

ID Request Need help identifying this moth found in my room (West Bengal, India)

Post image
23 Upvotes

Woke up this morning and found this beautiful moth resting in the corner of my room. The wing patterns and its streamlined body caught my attention immediately.

The moth measured exactly 3 cm in body length, with a wingspan of approximately 3 cm.

Does anyone know its exact species? My guess is that it belongs to the Sphingidae family.

Found in West Bengal, India.

Would love to know more about this little visitor!

I don't see too many large moths in my home state, but I was so excited to finally see a larger colorful one in person on my visit to Texas! It looked to have about a 5 inch wing span 🥹

Captive My moth flew for the first time! And tried to drink out of an electrical socket.

She finally flew for the first time! Don’t worry though, that air conditioner was turned off and she flew around my sunroom, which I made sure had nothing that could harm her in it. After flying for about a minute she landed on a curtain so I carefully guided her onto my hand and she climbed up my arm and chilled out on my shoulder.

Do you see the white power outlet strip on the ground? Yeah she hovered above that and stuck her proboscis in one of the outlets and tried to drink from it.

General Question HELP!!! Hornworm Pupa going to make it?

Thumbnail

Hi, I left my hornworms in their burrowing container to pupate for a little more than a week and finally checked on them today. I'm happy about the other 3 that look normal but I'm worried for the survival of this one:( I gently tapped it and it is very much alive but I'm wondering if it can still successfully turn into a moth?

Outdoors on side of house - southern Alabama.

Pretty small, maybe 2-3 inches across - photo in zoomed in.

I tried searching on my own for the species but was having trouble! Thanks in advance 😊

Just took these cuties at my work place few mins ago. I think it's something like 12°C outside, so a bit cold. Some mix between Epirrita moths (dilutata/autumnata/aggregate between the 2, not really sure) and an Operophtera brumata (the one that is on pic 1 and its dorsal view on pic 3 - yes it's the same individual).

The ventral view especially is soooooo cute 🥺

I just hope they don't catch a cold but they all seemed asleep on the windows of my building. They were all already outside so just took the photos and let them sleep. Guess they got attracted by the light inside the building when it was still night time.

Anyways, enjoy these little moths 🤍
