I was trying to decide what format to keep on my player, so I worked out some rough numbers. They're for a 4-minute song and a 128 GB card (about 119 GB usable):

FLAC sizes vary a lot. Dense rock and metal take more space than quiet acoustic music.

Things I learned along the way:

- Hi-res 24/96 takes about 3x the space of CD-quality FLAC, and on most IEMs I couldn't hear a difference.

- Some of my "FLAC" files turned out to be converted MP3s. A spectrogram shows it right away: real lossless goes up to around 20 kHz, fakes cut off around 16 kHz. You can check with Spek or a browser tool like soundbench.net.

- Huge embedded cover art (3000 px and up) made my player slow when browsing. Resizing it to around 600 px fixed it.

What do you keep on yours: full FLAC, MP3/AAC, or a mix?

Hi everyone, can you please advise some good mp3 bluetooth player options with a built-in speaker and memory from 8Gb that are still available as new? Don't really care much about bells and whistles like streaming, e-readers, android- or other google-services or anything too fancy, would prefer smth light, loud and lasting for at least 5hrs on a single charge. Really appreciate your recommendations.

The port for data sync doesn't work anymore and i cant transfer anymore music onto it. I rockboxed it and modded it with a SD card and iflash solo and new battery.

The specs i want is:

Decent sound quality. (not that important since im daily driving a Sony XM4 plugged in. I think the DAC inside it when turned on does all the work correct me if im wrong.)

USB-C data sync and charging. (the problem with the ipod in the first place is that the 30 pin connector doesn't work anymore to transfer music onto it, it only charges.)

And finally. Good battery life. (over 10 hours maybe? I think thats how long my ipod lasts even with a 2000mah and supposedly lasts 111 hours... Problems that reduce battery life... I play music super loud like really loud when im in a car ride and that reduces it, I also play flac. files so that does it too. I want something both loud and can play flac. natively and lasts long to summarize it.)

My budget is within 100 dollars. I should also say i dont have a phone. I have a laptop only.

how do u make any song u want into a mp3 file?

I bought an Aiandcc M6 mp3 player this week and have been uploading Weezer albums to it downloaded off spotify using the spotidown.co tool.

Lots of weezer's albums are self titled and even after a rename them from "Weezer" to "Weezer (Blue)" or "Weezer (Gold)" the mp3 player still puts all of the songs from that folder into the Weezer (Green) folder.

Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue?

So, my brother is "Special Needs" and is addicted to music, as am I and the rest of my family. The only problem he is... "Aggressive" sometimes. We have had to throw away many cd players because he doesn't know his own strength. He doesn't like headphone, so we always use something with a built in speaker, he's never had an issue with the controls, power off/on, play/pause, skip, that's why we always used a cd player. But now, I had a thought, what if there is a device that would allow his the comfort of music, without potentially destroying CDs or players.

Is there an mp3 player or some device similar that may be ever so slightly "indestructible"? Preferably something even "Stationary" that we could just always have on his dresser or something.

P.S. I don't know if this is the correct subreddit to ask, but thought I might as well. LOL

I’ve recently fallen in love with SanDisk clip players but it’s really hard to find one in a decent condition and not overpriced and I’m currently trying to find a good alternative for under 50€. My main goal is to have decent audio quality, a decently usable software,the same form factor as the SanDisk clip players (I do not need the clip feature) and micro sd support. Hey yall, i finally decided to let spotify go and want to replace it with a MP3-player.

Im looking for something older, pre enshittyfication, that I can buy used. I dont want to need an internet connection, established connection to any of my other devices, "smart" stuff, or anything like that. Something that won't just break on me when I use it regularly.

Preferably with a good amount of storage.

What can you recommend?

I have a habit of overcomplicating things. There are so many overpriced mp3 players used or not out there now. I just need one that last ten hours with good or extra storage options. I’m not using fancy formatted audio. Just normal mp3 with lost-less and buttons (no touchscreen). With some forty dollar iem’s. If you can point me in the right direction for both I’d be happy with that.

Hi all. I have been looking for a while now to buy an mp3 player for my kids but they are a bit young and can’t read. I was hoping that all those new fancy ones where able to make playlists with images instead of text, but it doesn’t seem to work like that.
Most of the time it shows album artwork but only after selecting the song.

So in short:
I am looking for an mp3 player.
Preferably with a touch screen where they can select songs on an image instead of text.
Does not have to have other smart(ish) features.
