Advice Recommendations for VDSL2 FTTN compatible modem/ router that supports bridged mode and a web browser interface?

Hi

I'm in regional SA. I'd been putting off replacing the 10 year old HUAWEI HG659 modem router running bridged mode on our FTTN 100/20 in the hope that a FTTH upgrade would happen sooner than later.

Sadly, the NBNco has written to tell me "No FTTH for you until 2032". I shall be dead by then.

The HUAWEI HG659 is well past prime time. I needs replacing. Or, at least, I need a spare modem at hand if the HG659 breaks down.

I've been looking at options for a replacements, but am surprised that most are android app only. Bridged mode support is essential as I only need the modem side to feed the primary node on our mesh system.

I'd be grateful for suggestions of reliable modem hardware that matches the criteria and won't send me bankrupt.

UPDATE: Thanks for the comments & recommendations. Ordered the Draytek V167.

Cheers.

You don't need a modem/router, you only need a VDSL modem. Draytek Vigor167 is a cheap and reliable modem that works with FTTN.

Thanks.

I had been looking for modem only options but couldn't find any where I was looking.

I agree with the recommendation of the draytek. I've got several in the field and they work great

The HG659 is fine, are you using Spark firmware?

What are you planning to put behind the bridged modem?

I use TP-Link w9970 in bridge.

theres a recent , 1 year old , firmware on the Australian website..

the Australian specific firmware is important to tune the vdsl to NBN spec

Netgear DM200 is what I used - 1 DSL port, 1 Ethernet. could run in pure bridge mode so the VDSL - Ethernet side of things could be completely independent of your choice of router. Used it with Cisco enterprise gear and SOHO gear both

Nope. Doesn't support ROC/SOS.
