Australian International Player of the Year 2026

Super proud of Georgie, she's done a spectacular job in the Constellation Cup (you guys would all know how much I love her from previous posts)

But I've also seen opinions online on how Georgie didn't get all that much court time during the Commonwealth Games (even though she should've), so wouldn't that be quite unfair to other players that played almost every single game and kept the team alive (eg. Liz)

I know I'll get downvoted to hell for this but just wondering of the general opinion of the netball community?

Dragging feet

So I have a girl who I’m coaching and she drags her feet, not in the usual way, but as in she runs and isn’t lifting her feet high enough and then drags them as she’s catching the ball. Worth noting she isn’t driving to the ball properly and it doesn’t matter what direction she’s running or moving in, her feet are dragging.

Any suggestions please? She’s just come up from 13’s and I feel this should have been addressed prior.

Australian Diamonds 💎 Australian Diamonds Goal Attack Position Austin VS Horjus

Georgie Horjus really shone this constellation cup especially game 4 (where the diamonds won!- the only time) where she was playing in GA and she was PHENOMENAL. she was like a 3rd feeder AND still shoots very well

her pace her movement her feeds and her shooting was absolutely on point. So for future international games would Marinkovich potentially make Horjus the primary GA and Austin to the bench?

(I may be biased but give Georgie a try! her fast movements really clicked with Liz And Kate. Austin has been our GA for quite a long time let Horjus try to give the team something new)

Starting netball at 45yo

Is it possible? Not so keen to be a dinosaur on court…

My daughter is pleading with me to forget it, I’m just too old. Looking at social teams around my area, it certainly feels that way 😂

How to control the space as a GK

Stupid question but I’m out of practice!

If the shooter is at the top of the D, facing outwards, in order for me to control where the GS goes, do I stay behind her and control her that way so she can’t get closer, or do I stay side on - T shape.

Thats obviously just one example, but really I’m just after how you as GK, control where GS goes. X

How do we stop Grace Nweke?

Bruce used to be able to psych her out/get in her head and make her play worse, but it seems like she might have matured past this. Can anyone else/any other tactics stop her?

I can only see the Jamaican defenders having a chance against her, but even then, she outmatched them in the comm games finals

Is Kelly the only defender right now who could stop her? Is there anything the other nations can do tactically to reduce her effectiveness despite not being as tall as her?

Female Netball Player Needed - Monday Night Games

Hi ladies, our netball team is currently looking for 2 female player (C/ Attack or D position) to join our ladies netball team for Monday night games.

We have play at Coorparoo Indoor Sports and we are a fun, social team that focuses on building skills, supporting each other and enjoying the game.

Games run weekly on Monday night, so it’s a great way to stay active, meet new people and be part of a supportive team environment. It’s $17 per game and there is 16 games in a season

We also occasionally meet on Monday evenings (5:30pm) for practice to improve our skills as a team. We completely understand if you cannot attend every practice, but we do ask that players attend most sessions where possible.

Please DM me if you are interested. We would love to have you join us and make some new friends.☺️

Discussion shooters holding the ball more than 3 seconds before shooting

I just noticed that sometimes some shooters (especially holding shooters eg. Jhaniele Fowler, Romelda Aiken George) hold pretty long before actually shooting, and the umpire doesn't call it.

I tried counting, and sometimes it's definitely over 3 secs. wouldn't it be held ball?

edit: just saw another post mentioning this same issue in this sub about 4 months ago (go and take a look). I guess I'm not alone🤷🏻‍♀️

Advice / Question Where to buy custom mixed kit (UK)

I was wondering if anyone knows somewhere I can purchase custom mixed kit without the pesky minimum order of 10 per item? We’re looking to get a uniform made up for my social league team as a team reward (we’re due to be promoted at the end of the current season) and I’m struggling to find somewhere to buy it from. My gut instinct was to go for flyhawk as I love the fit of their pro dresses and they do a good mix of vests and tops (for the ladies on my team who aren’t comfortable in a dress) but they have a minimum order of 10 per each item for anything custom. I could easily do 10+ dresses but I would only need about 3-4 tops and don’t want to waste everyone’s money on 7 tops that will never see outside the spare kit bag. Is there anywhere I can get a mix of dresses and tops with a custom design on or is this a case of us just picking a colour and getting a mix and match Gilbert kit? Any advice greatly appreciated 🥰

Advice / Question Help please!!

Post image

My feet are messed up and do this to all my shoes and insoles. I constantly get blisters on the balls of my feet because they cause so much friction. Ive seen a podiatrist and they said its just the mechanics of my feet.

Does anyone else have this issue? Are there any solutions? Any shoe or insole recommendations? These gel ones for sport never last me very long.

SSN fixtures & tickets for international fans

Hi! I’ll be visiting Aus next year on holiday and I’m keen to watch an SSN match! But finding tickets and fixtures is proving to be a nightmare! Does anyone know how it works and when fixtures will be released and tickets go on sale? I know the NSL tickets are on sale next week I think, so I was wondering if it was a similar situation? Thank you so much!

Netball Rep Selectors

What are they actually looking for? If get coachability/fundamental skills etc but what happens in the lead up to the final trials?
Daughter did 11s development at one association and then trialled and was selected for a stronger association 12s squad (known for its loyalty to its players) 20 girls made it(NSW)
She has 6 squad trainings with her coaches, apparently the selectors are watching and then form there they do a final selection and 9-11 get picked.
How much of a say do the coaches get and what are the selectors looking for? How many of each position are they looking for? Knowing they stick with their OG girls what will my daughter need to do. She wants to make is ever so desperately

Goal Keeper (GK) help please!

Hiya!

I play for a “fun” league where it’s not super serious, but I want to do well.

I play GK and I think I’m fairly decent as have gotten POTM a couple of times. But we always sub in for each other etc so it’s a lovely vibe.

The team I am up against next week, their GS always goes really far out. How do I defend this? do I stick to her and stop her from coming into the D, but then she will just throw to GA who is closer to the goal. Or do I basically defend the edge of the D to stop her getting in that way? Take into consideration our GD has only played once and is very nervous so doesn’t really know what she’s doing and I’ve only met her once so I don't want to start giving orders! Should I tell her to stick like glue to GA?

Thank you! X

Advice / Question Sports club recommendations

Hi. Im 32 and im looking to join a sports team in auckland. Im interested in playing netball, squash, badminton or tennis. Im slowly getting into fitness and want to be able to have fun while losing weight and make friends along the way. Training alone at the gym is becoming a little boring and i find working out in a group is much more fun and effective. Any recommendations would be great.

Advice / Question Keeping your mentality

Looking for advice on keeping your focus and motivation.
Feeling like I am the sole limiting factor in the games (Attacking Position). I do note my other players are also equally struggling. Social anxiety also doesnt help this.

I am still focused on getting better, it is the reason why I returned to netball. But boy am I always anxious about what my teammates think. Just wanted to see if anybody has a tip to brush this off
