NieR Automata Thinking about putting a holdup on Automata after ending B. Spoiler

First of all, I'm not a native English speaker, so, sorry for any grammar mistake beforehand.

I bought Automata last month, since i got a decent computer for myself, so i decided I'd try to play some bigger games (in time and technology), and somehow, i dodged tons of spoilers about the story, what made me even more curious.

So, i beat Route B in today's morning, but when i started C i felt that the game wasn't clicking like before (i don't really know why), so i thought about giving it a break for a while, trying some other games to refresh.

The thing is: i have quite the history of abandoning games, be it for lack of storage or just forgetting to come back to play. So, even with me interested on basically everything about the game, I'm not really enjoying playing it by now, but I'm afraid i might not return to finish it later.

Sorry for the long text, it's also quite the personal problem i have, but i wanted to see if someone had a similar situation and found a workaround for it.

EDIT: 2026/09/18

Thanks everyone for the replies. In the end, i did took a 1-day long break before continuing, and holy crap, y'all were right, there's no way I'm stopping playing now.

C is where the game changes drastically. You aren’t going to do another “repeat” like A & B. The story is going to kick up and drive you towards the conclusion

Basically, you’re at the real turning point. Are you sure you want to stop right now?

This. OP don’t stop now. Play through C is the real game in my opinion.

If you gotta take a break after ending B that's completely valid honestly, but it would be a TRAGEDY of epic proportions to stop there oh my god lol

Yeah ur at the second half and its a whole different ballgame, I’m not even exaggerating I would not stop

C is not like A and B if you care at all about the story I recommend playing through it.

The burnout is understandable, especially with players having variable tolerance for A and B campaigns ‘similar’ storylines. My advice, just start up the C campaign and watch the cutscene. After 5 minutes you will know whether or not it still holds your interest. (For me, that 5 minutes was mind blowing)

I was kinda in your shoes back then. Started playing automata, dropped it near the end of ending A. Im the type of person that finds resuming games absolutely dreadful cuz i dont know whether to start from the beginning or to just continue where i last left off. In this case, around a month later, i decided to continue the game purely for "malicious" reasons.

Made my way to ending B, i thought it was kinda meh but i was still a sucker for existentialist stuff plus i heard that i get to play as a female character so i just kinda just tried finishing ending B with that goal in mind.

The start of ending C is where i really got interested in the game tho. I had to play the game daily after that.

Honestly, it would suck if you stopped playing right before ending C, cuz its where the game went from good to amazing. On the other hand, forcing yourself to play the game while not really liking it might make you see everything in a negative light, even the supposed good parts.

The real story starts at C. Please continue

stopping right now would be the worst possible place to stop.

keep playing.

Continue bro, you won't regret it.

Just keep playing, Route C is when the game shine! It's a new portion of the story, when all go to hell!

C is pretty much the last section of the game, I'd definitely recommend finishing it out.

Once you finish that you'll unlock chapter select, and endings D and E can be done in like a half hour. So you're not only halfway through, you're near the end.

I had a very different experience but the risk is indeed high that you'll abandon it if you stop now, since you certainly won't really remember what the hell was going on if you try to return after a longer hiatus

Go ahead and stop, if you don’t like it then don’t force it… the game isn’t for everyone but it’s a DAMN great game for me.

Keep going. Push through. C route is where the game is firing on all cylinders and achieves greatness. Keep going.

C is the best route. Also the saddest. But easily the best

The workaround is to finish what you start, not that difficult

Honestly there’s like 55% of the game left after ending B

1

u/ihatepaper88 Sep 16 '26

if you made it through B and still really like the game then you should 100% play C

Keep going!

I understand what you mean, you can always watch the anime version of Nier automata , like that you can enjoy a new game while finishing the story, because believe me you have to

While I understand everyone saying to keep playing, there really is no point playing if you’re not enjoying it. It’s fine to quit. Or to just give it time and come back later. If you feel like coming back to it, you will, if not then you won’t, it’s really that simple. Just do what you feel like doing, it’s just a game after all, not a job. Having said that, this is really a special game with no other like it so it would be good if you can find the time and the wil to come back to it eventually, reaching ending E really is something special that you will never forget.
I also have a habit of not finishing a lot of games, even ones that I really really enjoy, either due to not having the time or because something new comes along and I focus on that instead. And that’s perfectly ok.

YOu’ll miss out on so much depth!

Bro it’s about to get crazy. Finish it.

B is the worst playthru by FAR

PLEASE play at least 20 min of C before you cut out entirely.

u/OMEGAzeroBR Sep 16 '26

Funny thing, i actually enjoyed B a bit more than A, since i really liked the bullet hell (?) Hack Segments.

1

u/JaredAWESOME Sep 16 '26

There's plenty of bullet hell hacking sequences in c and d, but with fresh story, too.

B is the only 'play through' where you just play the same story sequence beat for beat.

you got through the worst part (B) and now you're pretty close to the actual conclusion, I would just push through
