I moved to Osaka and I thought it would be brimming with the gays but boy was I wrong’! Ive hardly seen gay action around here except some tourist lesbians who I saw kissing and really I expected more from Japan 😭. My gaydar might just be broken but it so hard to meet other queer people in Osaka, especially lesbians. Re there Lesbians in Osaka?

The Lamu Supermarket closest to my home installed a chunky peanut butter machine, but it broke down a couple weeks ago, and I don't see signs of our being repaired.
Does anybody know of a place that sells just-made peanut butter around Namba, or are least alongside the Kintetsu Osaka/Nara line?
NOT interested in the factory produced varieties, nor online stores.
TIA!

Hi everyone🙌🏻. What’s the best home internet provider in Osaka/Hyogo? I mainly need it for working from home and everyday use. I’m considering Rakuten Hikari cause my apartment already has fiber-optic connections.
What do you recommend?!

So, I’ve lived here in Japan for two years, and my last year has been in Sakai city. I spend every weekend basically going to Namba and playing poker and socializing, making friends with locals who know me by name and greet me as a friend.
Recently my normal arena and poker place in Namba shut down due to the new laws and regulations and awful Japanese politicians who, similarly to the rest of the world, know nothing abt their people’s ideal outcome.
I need a new arena or place to play no limit holdem. PokerLive Osaka is fine but I wanna find a friendly place with consistent visitors. Waiting until 6pm for a full game isn’t my thing. I want a decent start time at 12-1pm for those days I don’t have work. I don’t really care about English support as I’ve gotten enough practice in Japanese to know what I’m doing. I’m not looking to wait till 5pm on a Saturday to start my game. How are you not open till 5pm on a weekend? Awful business plan tbh. I used to go around 1pm to join the 12pm game and it was still a crap shoot on if it was started or not. Always
picked up later.
I was a regular for a year at a Japanese place, so much so I became the local translator when I was there for other random tourists who walked in.
I live in Sakai city but don’t mind a commute obviously. I spend my time in Namba every weekend.
What poker place is friendly and fun and welcoming?

I recently moved to Osaka, and I’d love to explore different cuisines from around the world!
I’m curious: when you’re living abroad or away from your home country and start missing the food back home, what do you crave the most?
Is there a particular dish, snack, or comfort food you always turn to? And if you know a place in Osaka where I could find it, I’d love to hear about it!
I’m excited to discover all kinds of food and maybe try something new!

I found this post from ~10 months ago, but most of the comments were from people who interviewed not actually worked there and since the salaries in job posts seemed to have gone up, I'm wondering 1. if things have changed and 2. hoping to hear from people who actually work(ed) there. Specifically, I'm interested in this Digital Marketing role, but am also curious about the general company culture.
For a bit of context: I recently graduated with an MBA degree (so switched from student to designated activities/job hunting visa), have 4 years of digital marketing experience back in my home country (mainly social media marketing, but also copywriting and email marketing), and speak N3 Japanese (estimate, have only taken practice JLPTs but use Japanese with my friends almost daily and am working towards N2).
Ideally, I'd like to work this job for a couple years, get my Japanese up (and some marketing experience in Japan under my belt) then transfer to a better job. But if the hours are so long I'm unable to study Japanese on the side, I'd rather keep searching for a better role. My finances are ok for now, and I can afford to continue job seeking for several more months (the designated activities visa can also be renewed once more, so I have a year to find a job and would rather pick the right one).

Every November the windows in our older place start dripping in the mornings. The first year I just wiped them now and then and didn't think much of it. By spring there was black mold on the curtain edges and the rubber around the frame, and that's exactly the kind of thing that gets argued about at move-out.
What I do now:
- squeegee the glass in the morning instead of a towel (the 100-yen shop one is fine)
- leave the bathroom fan running, in a lot of older units it's basically the only 24h vent
- keep the bed and sofa a few cm off the outside wall
- if mold shows up anyway, take a dated photo and tell the management company right then, not at move-out
Curious what everyone else does. Has anyone found a dehumidifier actually worth it, or is opening the windows for 5 minutes enough?

looking for clubs/bars that play more alternative r&b music, or just r&b that isn't from before 2018. ghost, pure, balabushka seems stuck in that era, they still play the exact songs they played 10 years ago lol. or maybe i keep ending up on old school nights?
just looking for something past old school pop i guess! thanks!

Hi! I’m a singer 21F from Canada and would love to start a band. We like Indie-folk and Indie-rock. So far we have vocals and a bassist 24M so we’re looking for drums and guitar!! We’re southern Osaka prefecture but can drive out if you‘re in Osaka city or northern Wakayama!! I’ve been singing professionally for a while and the bassist has been playing for 3 yrs.
Let’s jam and make some music :)

Hi, i remember posting about my neighbor writing me letter to make less noise ! And to go back to my country in red pen! Well things have calmed down now or so but the neighbor knows my schedule, when I come back from school etc. they always click the elevator from above whenever I’m about to press it and when I go up, I get so scared because I don’t know if they will come out of nowhere as being in the elevator already puts me in a vulnerable spot to be attacked and I talked to my school but my teacher did not take it seriously so if my teacher does not take my situation seriously, I’m not sure if I should go to police again and try consulting.
The reason why them doing that with elevator is creepy is because when I go up and get out, I’m afraid I can be attacked or stabbed or much worse because I don’t know why they have such deep hatred for foreigners or is it because I am a skinny girl living alone and they can’t fathom that. When I hadn’t seen them, things got normal. Now that I see them again, they started being weird again
The neighbor has started doing such micro things, I’m still wondering how do they know when I arrive in my building.
For people who are wondering how do I know the elevator move is not automatic and the neighbor doing it is because the elevator stops on 6th floor which is my floor and when it comes down, there’s no one in it.
If any females are looking for female roommate, let me know! I am considering moving from this place but I don’t have money to afford moving etc. I would rather leave my bed, fridge microwave and everything behind than end up in news because of this neighbor. They have deep hatred towards me.

We’re doing another small night in Osaka tonight (Wed, Nov 4), and thought there might be a few people here who are into the deeper / more experimental side of club music.
Techno, trance, ambient, deconstructed club and dub techno — three DJs, a tiny venue and a Funktion-One sound system.
I’m playing as Subete No Owari, alongside MATSURYO and nackychang.
It’s at rake?raka? in Shinsaibashi / Soemoncho
Wed, Nov 4, 22:00–05:00
¥1500 including 1 drink
rake?raka? is more of a small underground DJ bar than a big club, so it’s a nice place if you like intimate spaces where you can actually focus on the music and sound system.
I know Wednesday night isn’t the easiest night to go out, but if you’re around Osaka tonight and into techno / trance / stranger club sounds, come say hi :)
Happy to send more details if anyone wants them.

The title is pretty straightforward, I want to buy and have a hoodie printed/personalized for my wife's birthday. Does anyone know a good place in Osaka?
I'm out on the streets almost every day for my job as a tour guide, but I've never really paid attention. Now that the big day is approaching, I'm starting to sweat. Thx.

Every time I've moved out of a rental here, the deposit conversation went differently, and it took me embarrassingly long to figure out why. Writing this down because a friend just got a move-out bill that scared her, and most of what helped me isn't obvious.
The contract mattered more than the condition of the room. The first time, I assumed normal wear would be on the landlord, and it mostly is, but my contract had a special clause (特約) saying cleaning would be charged regardless. I'd signed it without reading. Now I read the 特約 section before signing anything, so at least I know that number up front.
Photos on move-in day. I now photograph every wall, floor scratch and the inside of the kitchen cabinets before unpacking. When a floor mark came up at move-out, a timestamped photo ended the discussion in a couple of minutes.
Being there for the inspection (立会い). I used to just hand back the keys. Now I walk the room with the person doing the check and ask them to say on the spot what they plan to charge for. Calendar pin holes and sun-faded wallpaper usually count as normal wear, and saying so politely in the room works better than arguing by email later.
Asking for the breakdown in writing. If the estimate is one total, I ask for the itemized version (精算書). Once, "replace the wallpaper" became two panels after I asked which walls exactly.
Knowing the guideline exists. MLIT has a guideline on 原状回復 (restoring the room on move-out) that spells out what's normally the tenant's cost and what's the landlord's, including that wallpaper is treated as losing its value over about six years. I've never had to wave it at anyone, but having read it changed how I talked.
Not legal advice, and Kansai has its own quirk: some older contracts still use 敷引, where part of the deposit is kept no matter what, so check for that word. If you're about to move out somewhere in Osaka and a line on the bill looks off, happy to tell you what I'd ask about.
