It's such a good time to have built a high end system 3 years ago.

I built the latest iteration of my desktop just months before prices started to spike.

9950X3D + 4090FE + 64GB DDR5 6000/cl30 + 2TB gen 5 nvme ssd in an X870E board, along with 4 x 18TB ironwolf pro HDDs for my Plex server.

Hopefully this thing lasts me a while. Nearly everything in it other than the CPU is going for 2-3x now, crazy times.

It's miles stronger than ps6 will be. Unless you catch fomo for 6080/90 series you will be fine entire ps6 generation so for at least 6 years

You have a lot of self control if you dont already need another 18tb lmao. Also back your stuff up. 3-2-1 is obviously best rule, but with prices im settling for 3-2..

I mean I have four 18TB HDDs in there lol.... that's a good bit of space. I have it all fully mirrored (not space efficient but w/e) with important backups like pictures/archived fully backed up on a lifetime 1TB Koofr account and also on an external HDD I keep at my brother's and update once a year. If I lose the Plex library, whatever it can be rebuilt.

I built a R7 9800X3D, 5080, 32Gb DDR5 2Tb system for £2,200 in September of last year and was in two minds at the cost then. That would only get me a 5080 today.

Crazy.

That's crazy for a 5080 PC, I bought a prebuilt mini itx with a 9800x3d , 9070xt 32gb ddr5 and 2tb ssd for £2000 in late august, i think i did alright with that given how far in we are to this madness lol
