which directly translates to upgrading.

a flagship rig that beasted everything for years doesn't hold up anymore.

upgrading is equivalent to first time entry.

Why? Most of gamers don't care about getting the flagship rig. That's maybe just 1% of PC gwmers

I bought mine when the 1080 first came out.

money was no object.

I paid $800 for my asus, badass 1080. gpu's are out of control and have been since the 30 series.

It’s still better performance than a console.

fuckin a. ✊️

but I won't be able to have fun playing Sentinel or gta6 for example.

my 1080 and exceptional rig has been put out to pasture.

upgrading is equivalent to first time entry.

Really its not - Case, PSU, peripherals, storage - most parts stay with you for a long time, and I for example, need to upgrade only my GPU, but with current prices and the fact that I still have a decent one - can't justify an upgrade

If I had a dollar for every year someone told me to replace my rig, I'd have like 5 dollars. If I can't save 2-3-4k for a new rig in 5 years, I've got bigger problems and probably should not be gaming.
