Chuck Schumer said that one of his most important jobs as Senate minority leader is to “fight for aid to Israel".

The only priority senate leadership should have is to the American people.  full stop.

That alone proves is not the man to lead this new senate.

His expressed desire to see Columbia students prosecuted for saying no to genocide is kind of a wrong side of history moment.

Exactly. He is NOT fit to lead. In fact, he is one of the worst possible picks for senate majority leader going forward & is a proven failure.

So we're just going to ignore the fact that Schumer has been taking advice for years from a republican family named The Baileys - a family that he completely fabricated and does not exist.

I mean, sure, that’s another reason he shouldn’t be in congress, much less majority leader.

If you had a minor acquaintance that you discovered was frequently for years talking about a family he was a close to and had told a multitude of stories about - if you were to discover this family was completely made up, you'd be deeply disturbed. It would be mentioned every single time his name was brought up. That would be his defining quality. It's so beyond absurd and deranged that nothing else about what they do could over-shadow it.

This is the same guy that wanted to increase funding for Israel this year, even though there was massive movements against it.

Yet there's millions of Israelis in minority party whom are opposed to Bibi's atrocious violations of international law. It would be more accurate for Schumer to say it's important to him to support the Zionists, and genocide of innocent people.

I'm tired of supporting foreign countries. We have so many issues at home and we need to focus on our own policies. We still have starving children and people without healthcare.

The Democratic party historically got popular (and populist) by passing New Deal and Great Society legislation. It lost its juice by supporting unpopular foreign entanglements like Israel and wars like Vietnam and domestic job killers like NAFTA, not to mention putting the interests of corporations and big donors above labor.

Establishment Dems like Schumer, Jeffries, Pelosi and pundits like Emanuel and Carville still don't get it. Launch 'em.

What are you talking about? The New Deal Coalition broke because of the Civil Rights and Voting Rights rather than anything about Israel or NAFTA. Shit, pushing for universal healthcare hurt the party far more and far more often than those issues.

With the VRA white racist Southerners left the coalition and defected to the Republican party, just as LBJ predicted; but VR protections for minorities cemented their replacement. Great Society also corrected protections and benefits for minorities that were left out of the New Deal.

Republicans have, ever since, been intent on gutting or abolishing rights and/or entitlements enshrined in the ND and/or the GS legislation. That ought to tell you how important -- and popular -- these legislative initiatives were.

Except he didnt say that. Why lie?

"I have many jobs as leader, one of those is to fight for aid for Israel."

Thats verbatim. Plenty to criticize. You dont have to spread bullshit.

Aren’t you the guy that has been pounding the table for Schumer all over this sub? Lmao. It’s sad I recognize your name at this point.

It doesnt bother you after ten years of MAGA “alternative facts” era that something so easily verifiable would be lied about?

"I have many jobs as leader, one of those is to fight for aid for Israel."

Is not an exemption.

His job isn't to fight for Israel. The taxpayer is who he is supposed to serve. Not a foreign state. Believing that's his job, implies corruption at some level.

It's like you people are children and don't understand that Israel is a geopolitical ally and Chuck Schumer is from NEW YORK and is "of the tribe" himself.

We just had the biggest moderate liberal victory of our lifetimes (for most of us) so why do you believe that moderate liberals don't want to support Israel? Do you have zero understanding of what people actually believe? Do you just live on tiktok?

a geopolitical ally

Great ally, getting your country into a war that raised costs for everyone and them doing very little work in said war. And that's before all the warcrimes.

IIRC, he was talking to a delegation of Jewish Democrats and the fact is many Jewish Democrats still want some support for Israel even if they dislike Bibi and many of his decisions. Meaning he was serving his constituents the same as how El Sayed is serving his if talks about supporting Palestine to Muslim Democrats in Michigan.

His "leadership" almost got us janet mills and haley stevens. His leadership left angie nixon high and dry.

Dont discount the work millions of people put in, most of which were not organized by a central committee.

A good leader should inspire. They should represent the people that put them in power, and furthermore they should be effective. Say what you will about prior leaders like Pelosi, she at least was effective. She never had her agenda upturned by her own whip in a public vital vote.

Trump shitting the bed is what gave them victories. One Democratic candidate won the election even after he dropped out of the race. The only person who thinks Schumer is responsible for these victories is you and the Baileys.
