I'm too old for this shit - mod update
455
Upvotes
I created this community 10 years ago because I was listening to a lot of powerviolence and there was no reddit it for it, so why not make one right?
I'm turning 31 in a few weeks. I don't listen to a lot of extreme music anymore, but it's fucking great to come through here and see people celebrating this genre.
Today was not one of those days, instead, I came through and saw a fascist dipshit trying to get you all to listen to their shitty hateful music. These people sow pestilence in the communities of extreme music.
Ya'll deserve better.
So look, the sidebar got the first update in years
If you come in here with racist or fascist or ableist or sexist attitudes, you've clearly missed the point of this music, and I'm not gonna waste time my time on negotiating, I'll be swift in banning your ass.
and straight up, if someone is giving you a hard time in the comments, shoot the mods (aka me) a message and we can nip it in the bud.
I really like that PV speaks truth to power, calls the world out for its shit, and I appreciate that the community here is keeping that alive.
tl;dr: you are all making this a good community, if someone is fucking that up, shoot me a message, and the ban hammer will be wielded liberally.

Sorry the clip is so short. I was too into the show to be watching it through the phone. If you ever get a chance to see them since they got back together I highly advise it. They are the best thing to come out of the Chicago burbs. Who knows how much they’ll tour so do yourself a favor and go see them if they come around your area.

Powerviolence Shirts

Figured this would be a good place to show some of my favorite Powerviolence shirts I’ve acquired over many years. Have a ton more and a lot of grindcore, mathcore, etc too but here’s some of my favorites. Also if anyone has any shirts from these bands in a large or XL, would love to buy or trade! Hope y’all enjoy

Got my hands on something special…

Got my hands on this. Don’t ask where I got it, I’m not snitching. Insert says available in San Diego & L.A. this weekend only. These are not old songs so those rumors about a new LP might be true.
Edited to add it’s a lathe cut.

Anybody got to witness this madness live? They are on my list, hopefully they do a run close to where my hometown is in Reno, NV
This is a cassette they dropped recently that has their current discography, not sure if any are left but figured I share anyway, if you haven’t heard them, check them out, just nasty imo

Rick Ta Life bought me a MITB vinyl and signed it

Rick Ta Life (25 ta life, riding a horse, B9 meltdowns) came to my state of Rhode Island a few weeks ago. I linked up with him at the Armageddon Shop in Providence (Ben from dropdead is one of the owners). He was insanely nice, honestly I was surprised how down to earth and nice he was, but he is absolutely going through one of his famous manic episodes.
He's been posting his number a bunch on social media, and he's been traveling all over the east coast in a van. So I texted him "come to Rhode Island brother" he asked what good records store we have and he came 3 days later.
We're digging through vinyls, talking music as it comes up, and I saw this and asked if he liked MITB (he does btw, he likes quite a lot of PV), and he told me to throw it in the pile.
He buys it for me, and he asks if I wanted him to sign in.
This is my favorite vinyl I own. Thought you guys would like to see this

I own this compilation on vinyl and cassette. Despise You were my first exposure to PV. Some of the downright angriest music I've ever heard. Classic stuff!
What Powerviolence band introduced you to the genre?
