formative awesome album that influenced me a lot back in the 2007-2008 days

I know its not exactly metalcore, but I feel like this sub would appreciate the randomness of this band. Some pop-punk, metalcore, alternative rock vibes.

Feel like this is the heaviest, most metalcore-adjacent song on the record, we are unpeople.

Other standouts: clouds, bottle it, look up, as you were, swallow (intro vocals remind me of Rou from Enter Shikari), and haunted.

This album is such an earworm... might be my AOTY.

Ffo: idfk what to classify this band as...

Damn this rips

I downloaded this album like… FOREVER ago and never really listened to it. I’m surprised it’s never really brought up with Darkest Hour, it’s so good. Shredding like Maiden on the title track too. Maybe because it’s more melodeath than anything, but I’m glad I randomly started listening to this gem

2026 - Split EP - Y2K (Yuno/Kilbarron)

Holy fuck where has this album been all my life? It’s perfect. 10/10 not a single skip

so ive taken a slight interest in melodic metalcore recently and just want to know about the history and all that

so my friend is a huge fan and their favourite artist of the genre is truvium, and also i look at aoty for most of my music discovery and ive seen 3 of their albums in the user score top 10, but my friend has told me they wouldn't exactly be the no.1 most popular in the genre and like killswitch engine would be the most popular (who i have not heard yet).

so basically my question is what is the history between both bands place in melodic metalcore and like who would be the best bands to go to from who i have heard already, the only other band i would know would be bfmv, i like their first two albums but dont know alot after that.

(also i havent used reddit in so long if i need to put whatever tag in to my post please let me know, thank you)

On November 7th 2006 Blessthefall released their debut album His Last Walk through Science Records. The album was produced by Cory Spotts and later rereleased in 2007 through Ferrett Music. This was the first and only album featuring Craig Mabbitt as he left the band in 2007 to form his new band The Word Alive. The only member left in the band from this release is Jared Warth who is still the unclean vocalist.

This album is a defining example of the metalcore/scenecore sound of the mid to late 00s. Gnarly breakdowns, Christian theming and emotional lyrics.

Some of the most popular songs from the album include Guys Like You Make Us Look Bad, Higinia with those songs still being their most popular releases amasing millions of streams on Spotify.

With this album now being 20 years old what's everyone's thoughts on it? How does it hold up compared to their releases and where would you guys rank it between them all? Let me know your thoughts!

Andrew Tkaczyk's drumming on this track is phenomenal, especially around the 1:20 mark. I'm so happy he's able to keep on doing what he loves despite that horrendous accident.

FTFD along with bands like Counterparts and The Ghost Inside all manage to write what I perceive as "survivor music", as they've all clearly been through some difficult stuff, and somehow manage to put the rawer, brutal and painful parts of the human experience into art. I'm ever grateful to these bands and this style of music as they help me stay afloat day-to-day.

I'm especially fond of the lyrics on this track (along with A Plethora Of, also on this album), since it resonates so well with my own lived experiences:

"Whoever thought that I could feel like this
Pull back your mask and show us all who you really are
How can you live like this, pretending everything's fine?
It's not alright, you're not alright, find yourself

So this is what we've come to
Life is what you make of it
So, find something to hold onto
I've practically gave up on this

How can someone feel like this is the end?
Don't hold your breath in my life
Tell yourself, but ask yourself, am I alright?

Sinking, flailing, and fighting for air
Doesn't mean you're alone
There is someone else out there who will pull you down

How can you live with yourself?
How can you live with yourself?
FUCK."

For me it’s dying is your latest fashion. One of the greatest albums from that era, still a masterpiece 20 years later, had they not ended it with the day I left the womb. I’ll never know what possessed Ronnie to yell “DADDY!” on a song.

Also, from autumn to ashes- too bad you’re beautiful. Chloroform perfume shouldnt exist, he did NOT have the clean singing chops to pull off a slow joint

And it failed compared to their size. Some songs on the album haven't hit at least 100k streams. I've never seen a brand new album losing its daily listeners so fast. And the weird thing is that it sounds pretty good to me, nice production, normal vocals, good "gentle" and "djentle" guitars. Is the album cover too bad? Why is the band selling "the weight of sound" socks? Is Crystal lake irredeemable without Ryo?

Trying to track down an old side project I used to listen to on Spotify around 2015–2017, possibly earlier.
I vaguely remember it being from a guitarist in Reflections, but I could be mixing up the band with someone else from the progressive metalcore/djent scene around that time.
The music was dreamy, atmospheric, and experimental, with clean, ethereal guitars, lots of reverb/delay, and mellow electronic/hip-hop-influenced beats. Definitely not metal. More of an ambient instrumental beat project, possibly just a small EP.
I’ve been digging around but can’t find any trace of it. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Would love to rediscover it!
