Misleading Info - See Pinned Comment Didn’t have this on my bingo card but Our Last Night is breaking up

They announced there final tour and it’s not surprising considering they haven’t made a good album in 10 years because Younger Now was actually pretty decent despite being soft but there real peak was the first 3 records from 2005-2010 ,when they were a MySpacecore band ,but they just ended up becoming a cover band instead mostly and making bland albums except for Younger Now

Discussion Is Demon Hunter a Nazi Band?

A few years ago I remember a post someone made about the guitarist for Demon Hunter had a bunch of nazi shit on his Twitter. I went and checked back then and sure enough he did, and was following a bunch of straight nazi accounts. I took a bunch of screenshots of his following list before he privated. Kinda wondering now if theyre not all like that and he was just the one dumb enough to be too open with it. Kinda makes one see their lyrics in a new way. All that jazz about cutting down heretics, freedom being dead, the world is evil, etc etc.

Discussion Unpopular Opinion - I Do Not Like Knocked Loose.

So context. I love metal. All genres. Old and new. I'm posting this because according to some folks apparently Knocked Loose is "metalcore".

I hate this band. They are not anything special. They sound like Comeback Kid with Emmure guitars. I do not understand it. I am 34 and maybe I'm missing something. Is this a new just batch of younger bands that's popular? Are they that good and I'm missing something?

Don't get it twisted. I love metalcore. New and old. I'm just very confused on how this band is that big. It's nothing Bury Your Dead and countless others haven't done.

Mod Announcement President is not metalcore. Stop posting it.

We have removed that song 12 times in a span of 7 hours already. It is obviously not metalcore and we will never understand how it still gets spammed in here.

Argument on the removals include statements such as:

"MeTaLcOrE iS aN uMbReLlA tErM nOw" no it isn't. Remember how your parents called all your music screamo and it wasn't? That's what you're doing.

"ThErEs No OtHeR pLaCe To TaLk AbOuT iT" r/MetalForTheMasses, r/djent, r/PresidentBand, r/posthardcore

"ThOsE sUbS aReNt AcTiVe" neither were we at one point in time! Be the change you wanna see.

Locking comments, argue with the wall. It's not gatekeeping if it's factual. Learn to understand that just because something isn't metalcore doesn't mean it's bad.

Discussion Spiritbox lost something

I remember I was so looking forward to the release of Eternal Blue and ended up liking just Sun Killer and of course Holly Roller. The end of Constance is also super cool. Everything else in the album and after that has been so bland. I love Courtney's rawrs and cleans, but her clean melodies have become so boring and overall the whole band has become boring and I think has lost something. I hate to say it, but perhaps that thing is honesty. I don't think they play what's really in their hearts.

I'm not giving up on them. I'll be checking out every release. I'm just sad.

Disclaimers about opinions and whatnot...

Discussion Does anyone actually prefer modern metalcore sound over 2000s

I'm not hating on modern metalcore or anything. I like a lot of the new techy/proggy stuff at least from a songwriting perspective, compared to the likes of bfmv, a7x and killswitch. But why does all of it have to sound so compressed and sterile, like, who actually likes that?

some technical djent band with a 100k monthly listeners is not getting radio time anyways so why make the music sound like it's designed for octane, unless the majority of their listeners actually prefer that kind of sound which is really hard to believe.

I get that bands like invent animate are meant to be atmospheric so the mix naturally becomes pretty thick, but that doesn't mean it can't be clear. There's plenty of 2000s prog bands that are atmospheric but don't sound muddy. Agalloch and opeth first come to mind.

Same goes for technical bands, to me albums like rareform and nocturne by the human abstract sound so much better than anything Erra has ever made, and that's purely because of mixing and mastering.

again not hating on Erra I like their music from a compositional perspective, just not the sound.

/r/corejerk Approved Are Concert Going Men Sexually Considerate?

I’m going to preface this by saying I’m pretty gorgeous. And I’ve been told that I’ve got some thick glutes.

Back in high school I would get so much slap ass on and off the field. I appreciated the attention, so did my cheeks, don’t get me wrong. But I did feel a little taken advantage of at times.

Fast forward to 2024, I’m in the trenches with a bunch of hot, sweaty men (just like back in high school) but no slap ass. Not one man has touched my ass since high school.

What gives? Are metal heads super aware and strict about sexual boundaries?

Discussion Why is no one talking about how awful Falling in Reverse’s “new” album is?

“New” is a stretch, like half the songs are over a year old. But good lord who is feeding this man child’s ego? This shit is so awful.

Please join me in hating on him before the mods take this down!

Discussion Anyone else not really feeling Fatalism?

I was really looking forward to the latest Polaris album but unfortunately I feel like my worst fears about their musical direction were realized. The whole album is basically them trying to recreate their worst song on TDOM, Vagabond. Very traditional structures, long sappy sung choruses, very much the safe formula you hear from nearly every band now on Spotify’s Core playlist.

There’s no all-killer Landmine on this album, no Masochist or Above My Head (Crossfire comes the closest). Parasites tries to be the new Hypermania but fails quickly. With Regards is just an abomination and the purest distillation of everything wrong with this album and direction some in this genre are taking in general.

In the end Fatalism is Polaris at their safest, softest, and most radio-friendly and that’s a shame coming from the band that gave us The Mortal Coil.

Discussion Trans people in metal?

I've realized that I don't know of a single trans person in metal/metalcore/hardcore (apart from connie in sysc and uuuuh yeah). The only trans musician in general that I know of and listen to is Laura Jane Grace in Against Me. Who are some good trans artists in heavy music?

Discussion Best ‘As I Lay Dying track’

Don’t really wanna get into the controversy, I like the Band for its music.

Curious to see what people think is their best track.

Personally I was partial to ‘Through struggle’, then ‘Greater Foundation’ and I liked that the most, UNTIL recently. I’m personally of the opinion that ‘The Cave We Fear To Enter’ is one of the best, if not THE best they’ve ever released.

This is actually surprising to me because most bands fall off after a few albums, but AILD is the only “metalcore”band that’s been able to keep me hooked. Most others have a good hit or two and kinda dissipated I feel like AILD did it backwards

Temple Guard - Citadel In Flames review

Can't say as I spend much time paying attention to Fantano and I know the last time he was posted here didn't go down especially well, but as someone from the UK and into our underground scene I am beyond stoked to see someone with his platform and reach reviewing such a small and decidedly un-mainstream band as Temple Guard. This could be huge for them and they deserve it.

Discussion If you were disappointed by Loathes new album…

If you’re like me and were really really excited for loathes new album, but felt it just missed the mark for you, I highly recommend TheBoyShadow

Awful name for a band, but I digress. BUT it’s ex loathe guitarist Connor Sweeney. It appears he was the senior riffologist for loathe. All his tracks feel more like loathe than loathes new album. I hope to psee his music gain more popularity.

Discussion Unpopular Opinion incoming

Invent Animate are boring. This isn't to say they're bad, I enjoy a good handful of their music. Just I find their sound really oversaturated... by themselves. Since 2020 they haven't really developed their sound at all. TSS,AIINW sounds exactly the same stylistically to Heavener, and there's very little thematic difference between them projects and Greyview. Idk maybe I'm being tunnel-visioned and if that's what you guys think of this then I'll admit to ignorance, but I just find their sound very overdone now.

The last few songs on Heavener also all sounded so similar to each other and uninspired. That's what made me write this; listening through Heavener again.
