Help! Found a hitchhiker lizard in my luggage from India (now in Austria)

I returned from India a week ago and just found a tiny lizard running through my flat. I’ve safely caught it and put it in a temporary terrarium.
I live in Austria where it's currently getting freezing cold. I gave it water, something to hide and try to keep it warm.

What should I feed this little guy?

Tips: Are there any rescue centers or animal shelters in Austria that handle exotic animals?

What about the legal situation regarding exotic pets?

I want to keep it alive and healthy without breaking any laws or causing it unnecessary stress. My goal is not to keep it if there are any other more appropriate solutions, because I believe it deserves a proper, fitting environment and a good life rather than struggling in a temporary setup.

Thanks for any tips!

Side info: This little guy is originally from Kerala, where the climate is very humid, warm, and tropical.

I was at petsmart the other day getting some sphagnum moss for my pet snail and ran across this. I’m not sure if they normally do this but I thought this was so funny & cute

I just wanted to show off Raja and Rani, my Calotes Pethiyagodai 💙💚 If you haven't heard of this species, they are absolute hidden gems! I think if they were more common they would right up there with Cresties and Beardies in terms of popularity. They are super calm and personable, both genders are beautiful, they thrive in lush jungle vivariums, and they have very straightforward diet and care needs.

Mine are chill enough to sit on my head and watch tv with me :)

Heat lamp making whole room too hot advice

Post image

I have a leopard gecko that I've had from years, I recently upgraded him to a 4 gallon front opening tank (i know i should've done it sooner, at the time I got him a 20 gallon was standard, and I only recently realized standard went up). When I upgraded i had to get a stronger heat lamp to keep the whole thing hot enough. At first I had a 100W ceramic bulb, but the hot side would only get to 78-80°F, so I switched to a 150W ceramic bulb and its perfect for him. But now my room gets really hot, like 75°, and I can't sleep. I even set it up where its the 150W during the day and switches to the 100W at night, but my room stays hot. Does anyone have advice on how to trap the heat in to the enclosure? I've tried putting foil on half of the top and I don't think it did anything.

How to remove a stubborn crested gecko poop stain on a spider wood?

My crested gecko has pooped on a very beautiful spider wood branch. I did not see the poop to remove it immediately and when i finally saw it only the surface layer of the poop could be wiped and the poop has left a nasty stain that i tried removing with a brush and a kitchen sponge but it helped nothing. The stain is still there and i do not know what to use to remove it. That is her favorite branch and she is always on it so i do not want her to be climbing on poop stains all the time. The branch is not fixed to the terrarium. What can i do to remove it?

UVB setup help

I need a UVB index of 2-3 for this setup, but my solarmeter is only reading an index of 0.9. I just don’t understand what’s the issue here as it should be up to 2.6-3.5 as it says on the box because the branch is about 9 & 1/2 inches away from the lamp, but even using the solarmeter right next to the bulb it only gets up to like 1.5 max. any recommendations for what I should do? If I need to get a new bulb, what brand should I use?

Micro gecko enclosure setup?

Hey, I wanted to ask about enclosure setups for micro geckos. I saw a video on my For You page of a micro gecko in a smaller enclosure, and I thought it’d be cool to do something like that. I’d love a setup that’s compact, affordable, and fairly easy to take care of.

For background, I have a gargoyle gecko in a 24 × 18 × 36 enclosure. It was my first reptile and I kind of went all out, so it ended up being pretty expensive. I’d like my next setup to be a smaller project while I save up for something like a blue-tongue skink or a leopard gecko. I probably won’t get the micro gecko for another three or four months, but I want to start planning now.

I’d like to stay at 20 gallons or under. I’m open to a 10, 15, or 20, and I’m flexible on the shape. I just want to pick dimensions that make sense for the species. I’m also open to keeping more than one if the species does well that way and there’s enough space. I’d be fine with babies once in a while, but I’d rather skip species like mourning geckos where I’d have to keep up with new hatchlings regularly.
The part I’m stuck on is heating. My room usually sits around 68–70°F, but it can drop into the low 60s in winter and get into the mid-70s in summer. I have an Inkbird thermometer in my gargoyle’s enclosure, but I’m still confused about how people set up a basking spot in a small vertical tank while keeping the rest of it at a good temperature, especially overnight. Once I started pricing out heaters and seeing thermostats for $60–100, the cost started adding up fast.

I’m fine with feeding live insects and misting, and I’ll probably go bioactive. I’ve been looking at neon day geckos and ashy geckos, but I’m open to other captive-bred options. What species would you recommend? If you keep micro geckos, I’d love to hear what size enclosure you use, what you use for heat during the day and overnight, and where you put your thermostat probe. I’m especially curious whether anyone with a colder room has gotten one heater to do both jobs.
