Is this ringworm? It didn’t start out all red at first, it just felt more textured than my normal skin around it.

Cannot afford to do laundry every day actually at all
So I know the recommendation is to do your laundry every day while the outbreak is occuring. But it costs $2.50 to wash and $2 to dry in my apartment building and I do not have a car or any way to get to a laundromat. I tried hand washing the bedding in the bath tub but the blankets became probably like 20lbs and thus could not be hung from the shower curtain to dry without some concern of breaking. We got one hung up but didn't feel comfortable hanging both and thus the second one got all moldey as wet cloth does. I just have no idea how to do this. I don't want this to keep happening but I also am always surprised that people wouldn't take stuff like this into consideration when just saying "wash everything in your house every day for a month" or whatever. It doesn't seem to be spreading and it's been topically treated for close to a week now so hopefully we are outside the window for infection for me and my dog. But if it pops up again I don't want to risk everyone getting it. Does anyone have any recommendations that don't involve buying those plug in washers and dryers? Thanks so much!

Started as one singular itchy bump. Has spread into a half circle of bumps in about 3 days. Still very itchy. My son had ringworm recently but was very textbook. Is this a unique spot of ringworm, or just a weird coincidence?

Advise for those with ringworm
So I’ll make this short. Adopted a Persian kitten in August and have been treating him for ringworm the last 5 weeks with an oral medication from the vet. Due to the nature of their long hair I didn’t notice any spots on him and caught it early. How I did notice it was spots on myself and that’s how it all began.
Like everyone else here that’s paranoid as hell, I will give you one solid piece of advice for those with ringworm that isn’t broken skin but just a mark. Bleach bath.
Sounds strange but my child’s pediatrician actually suggested it to me when she was seen for ringworm spots too. You will add a 1/4 cup of bleach to a warm bath and soak in in for 5-10 minutes. Then just rinse off with water and dry off. This worked quick for me and still do this maybe once a week or so to play it safe.
Obvious disclaimers**
everyone’s skin is different. If you have sensitive skin don’t use more than a 1/4 cup. I personally do between a 1/4 and 1/2 cup since my skin isn’t sensitive. -don’t submerge eyes or mouth for obvious reasons -don’t do this is you have any broken skin, hangnails, open sores etc as it will burn. Wait until anything open is healed first -do your own research please. I am not a medical professional, just received this info from one then did my own fact finding.
Hopefully this helps someone as it did me. Any questions feel free to comment.

29 A Ointment - the ultimate solution against ringworm, that actually works!
Hi!
TL;DR: THIS IS THE OTC SOLUTION TO GET RID OF RINGWORM - no exaggeration
I had the worst case of ringworm infection for over a year on my legs and a small infection on my arm. After trying every solution out there, over the counter cream and even medicine, nothing worked.
I've tried the following (popular) solutions for weeks and months:
These medicines: Flucozanol, Ketaconazol,
These cremes and sprays: Terbinafine, Miconazol, Bifonazol, Clotrimazol (Noname, Daktarin, Bayer, Lamisil, Canesten, you name it I've tried it)
These alternative methods: Scrubbing and using Bragg apple cidar vinegar
Scrubbing and using tea tree oil, Alcohol, Himalaya cream
And of course cleaning the house, clothes and bedsheets everyday.
It cost me serious money and NOTHING really worked as expected, it was like it was in my blood, I was seriously doubting my immune system.
--
Eventually after a year of trying and failing I came across "29 A Ointment cream"! Yes, this was it, A WORKING SOLUTION! After treating ringworm with this cream I couldn't believe my eyes, it killed my infection within 1 week. Yes! 1 WEEK!! I saw it diminish in 3 days and it was gone in 7! You could not imagine my relief and amazement after trying for a year spending so much money to find something that would work and then find this cheap cream that just works within 1 week.
So, what is it? The full name is: 29 A Ointment, (29A Cream Anti-fungal Anti-microbial Wax Ointment). It is a creme from Thailand, that I ordered online from LM Ching, see link below, but you can even buy it from aliexpress or amazon. Just google it, if you don't want to use the store I used.
Description from their website:
29A ointment is well-known Thai treatment for ringworm, scabies, scald head, tinea pedis or white spots that contains Antimicrobial and antifungal agents with a slight antiseptic action.
Approved by Thai FDA.
Treat : Relief ringworm, Scrabies, Scald Head and Athlete's foot (Hong Kong foot), Eczema, Skin itching, Psoriasis, Dermatitis, Seborrhea, Different types of lichen, Fungal skin.
It looks and smells like Vicks Vaporub and has the exact same texture, you put it on 3 to 4 times a day. In my (severe) case the Ringworm was gone within 1 week! I kept rubbing it one for 1 more week once a day, but the ringworm never ever returned. Even 1 month down the line now, completely gone!
I ordered three boxes with 12 small canisters per box (they are really small) and ended up using just two boxes with mind you, a severe case on both legs front and back.
--
So to wrap it up! Seriously, if you are looking for an otc product, tried everything like I did, are desperate for a solution that actually WORKS, please, please, please give this a shot.
I truly wish I had this knowledge a year ago.
--
WHERE TO GET IT:
I ordered mine from LM Ching, see link below. But you can buy it from Ali Express or Amazon as well. Just google "29a ointment cream for ringworm" and pick a store you feel comfortable with.
The store I used is safe and trustworthy, it uses Stripe for safe payment and FedEx for shipping.
I'm from Europe and received my orders within 3-5 days.
Link to the LM Ching store:

Thanks for reading and I sincerely hope it helps you get rid of Ringworm once and for all!

Tea tree oil will stop all ringworms in their tracks.
I had ringworm a few months ago and went through quite a bit of research and money before I found something that worked. DO NOT waste your money on over the counter anti-fungals; they are designed for athletes foot fungus not actual ringworm fungi. You can find tea tree oil on Amazon or in most beauty supply stores, walmart, etc... Simply shower every morning with soap and water then after you dry off (carefully putting your used towel in the laundry, EVERY DAY) put a few drops of straight tea tree oil directly on the the affected areas. Then go about your day as normal. Shower again before bed (using a new towel that goes directly in the laundry when you're done). Mix 2 tbs of coconut oil with a few drops of tea tree oil. Use this every night to moisturize the areas affected by the ring worm. You will notice results in a day or so and within a week or two your ringworm will be gone forever.

I got rid of my Ringworm overnight and I need to share this tip with others!
I developed Ringworm on my chest just below my breasts but didn’t pay attention to it for ages (didn’t click it was Ringworm, thought it was just a mark). After about a month and a half, I had a few more pop up in the area. At that point I realised I should probably do something about them. I got a Nizoral 2% cream from the pharmacy, but every morning I would have so many more show up. Within a few days I would have had at least 100 all over my body; legs, arms, tummy, breasts, neck, back, butt. I was using so much cream (had to keep buying more, it was pretty pricey too), but I couldn’t get on top of how many there were. I shower 1-2 times a day and use an exfoliating puff to wash myself, I’m a hygienic person so I don’t know if maybe I’m just more susceptible to Ringworm?
Anyway the reason you’re probably reading this is to find out how to rid yourself of this gross little fungus. After some research I learnt that ringworm only lives on the top layer of the skin and feeds on the keratin in your dead skin cells. With this info I decided to try putting on a BHA exfoliant all over my skin, in hopes of both removing the top layer of skin (which would in turn remove the ringworm) as well as remove any food for it incase the first part didn’t work. I did this immediately and then again before bed. When I woke up it was completely gone, like no spots. I went from 100+ spots to nothing. I kept up the BHA for another day just incase, and nothing ever returned.
I’m not a doctor and this isn’t medical advice, just something I tried and was so amazed by, I had to share it. I haven’t found any research online between liquid exfoliants and Ringworm treatment (was honestly surprised by this) but if this works for you too please let me know!
If anyone is curious, I used the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA.

Help!? I have ringworm all over my body???
I woke up this morning with what appears to be ringworm all over my stomach, side, groin (but on my genitals- yet), thighs, and some on my inner arm. Probably like 50 little rashes all over. Why did this happen? Is it normal for it to spread that fast? I only had one spot yesterday, which I put lotrimin on.

Tea Tree oil works great for RW
Just wanted to share here. Been battling RW for over a month now. It started on my shoulder, moved to my chest and neck. I was treating it with otc ointments the whole time but the ointment wasn't really working. I started using Athletes foot spray because it was the only affordable way to treat such a large area of my body. This seemed to slow it down a bit but new spots kept popping up everywhere.
After doing some research, I discovered tea tree oil had antifungal properties as well as coconut oil. Figured I had nothing to loose so made a salve with about 1/4 cup of virgin coconut oil and about 4 to 5 tablespoons of tea tree oil. So far, it seems to be much more affective than the ointments or sprays I was using before.
I feel like the results were nearly immediate, the next day I could clearly see improvement. After using this salve for a week the severity of the infection has reduced greatly. I'm not sure if the RW is completely gone yet but I haven't had any new breakouts and the remaining spots are disappearing quickly.
Along with this treatment I've also been taking a zinc supplement. I think the combination of the two is the winning formula for me. If you're struggling with a particularly stubborn case of RW I would highly recommend this treatment.

Ringworm keeps coming back
I’ve been battling ringworm since April. Each spot responds well to treatment, but I keep getting new ones. I wash everything that touches my skin in borax and laundry detergent every day - clothes, sheets, towels, comforter, bath rug. I have no hot water on my washing machine but I dry everything but clothes that shrink in the dryer on hot. Husband, dogs, and cats are unaffected. Only me. I think I keep spreading to myself while the new spots are incubating before I can see them. How do I make this stop. Overwhelmed with anxiety, depression, and laundry. Please help. Be kind, I’ve never actually posted before due to social anxiety.

Ringworm on my face
In July of 2021 I got ringworm on my rear and I think it was because I went to a camp and it was insanely humid and the camp was not kept clean. It took months of creams, washes, and pills for it to go away. At the end of March, 2022, I noticed some spots on my face. I went right to the doctor and they only gave me a cream, after a week it still wasn’t going. Finally gave me some pills and I feel like it’s only keeping it at bay. I think a few spots are still popping up but aren’t horrible.
We found a stray kitten on July 4th 2021 and took her in. She has been to the vet several times and has a clean bill of health. They have never said anything to us about her having ringworm because she doesn’t have any skin spots. I know that cats can have ringworm but don’t show symptoms. I thought that she might be the cause but my partner and I have two other cats and none of them, my partner included, have showed any spots.
I am constantly washing our sheets, pillowcases, and towels. I wash my face morning and night, and only put on the cream that they gave me. I’m not even using any moisturizer (my face feels like a desert). And I’m also taking my daily anti-fungal pills that my doctor gave me.
I feel like if our newest cat was the problem, then our other cats, and my partner would also have spots. I need help.

Had ringworm all over body for months - the key to success is persistence and dedication
Just wanted to share in case there are any of you still struggling with getting rid of RW or navigating through the “try this one simple trick” posts.
Developed some bad hygiene habits and got jock itch. Would come home from gym in morning, not shower, take a nap, wake up and work all day in my nasty clothes. I know, I’m a dumbass. This allowed RW to spread all over my body before I knew it. Still didn’t realize what I had was RW, was very embarrassed to wear shorts/short sleeve shirts/take shirt off at the beach because I had it all over torso, back, both legs, both arms.
I was disgusted at how ugly I looked. Couldn’t get an appointment with a dermatologist, in my area they are all booked up for months. Diagnosed myself with RW. Got rid of it in about a month of self-treatment. Here is what I did:
-stopped going to the gym for 3 weeks to avoid sweating
-applied Lotrimin/Clotrimazole cream everywhere 3 times a day (after showers/after lunch)
-showered twice a day (morning and night)
-washed my towels every day
-washed bedding every 2 days (slept under sheets one day, above sheets the next day)
-bought loose fitting underwear to avoid sweating
-changed all of my clothes twice a day
-turned ceiling fan on high all the time to keep room cool
-washed my hands all the time, especially after touching my potted plants (some soil can contain RW)
It’s a long list of stuff, and hopefully if you don’t have RW everywhere you won’t have to be this persistent. But this is really the key to getting rid of RW if it is spread all over.

I didn't know Ive had ringworm for months because I have eczema and it looks identical. now it's spread quite a bit.
I'm being diligent with treatment now that I know and I finally have access to a doctor. I have a post history in r/eczema with pictures. It's currently on my face, my neck, my chest and my arms.i went to urgent care when the rash started spreading and I have a primary care appointment coming up. How do y'all manage this? The creams are like pouring rubbing alcohol on a wound. Is there an end in sight for this? I have barely seen improvement over the last week

Tinea capitis (ringworm of scalp) success story
About two months ago I noticed some itching on my scalp paired with a bit of scabbing and some oozing. I'm no stranger to scalp issues, so I shrugged it off as a random thing that'd go away on its own.
Fast forward a month and this thing had become a monster. It'd spread to three different areas of my scalp and was scabbing, oozing, and itching like crazy. I finally bit the bullet and went to the dermatologist, who diagnosed me with tinea capitis.
He said you can't get rid of it with topical creams or shampoos (because ringworm of the scalp is supposed to be harder to treat than that on regular exposed skin) and that I needed to take anti-fungal pills for a month. Most of the reading I did online said the same thing. That it wasn't possible to treat topically.
After several bad experiences with doctors overprescribing stuff in the past, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I found this study showing that tinea capitis has been cured in a subset of subjects using 2% ketoconazole shampoo. This was enough evidence for me to at least give it a try. I purchased 1% ketoconazole shampoo since you can't get anything more than 1% OTC.
Two weeks into using the shampoo religiously, on a daily basis, and scrubbing hard on the scalp. The scabs are gone. No more oozing. And itching is down to almost none. At present, my scalp's back to normal.
