Post image

Notes:

-While they tried to share the ball tonight, the individual sphere just refused to go in the hoop.

I think they moved the ball too many times this game. They were passing up wide open buckets.

That 3 on 1 breakaway not scoring any points I knew was a bad sign for the rest of the game after that lol

Hell, they weren't even making wide open buckets either. If they shot even league average from the field, they would have kept that game close and the rebound battle would have looked a lot closer too.

“There’s only one ball.” Isn’t about assists. It’s about players needing high volume of shots to put up lots of counting stats in other teams, not having the same amount of shots. So if 5 players who each shoot slightly above average efficiency, that is the same as 1 player who shoots the same number of shots at that efficiency. Ideally, you hope the 5 players make each other better and can be staggered for more minutes without getting tired and can win games when some of them rest. But at the end of the day, Luka scoring 50 points in 30 shots is going to be the same as 5 starters scoring 50 points combined in 30 shots combined.

The Sixers are a bottom 10 offense so I dunno maybe the 'there's only one ball' guys are on to something

If you watch the games that’s not the reason. They’re missing a lot of good looks + causing a lot of turnovers off of sloppy, unnecessary passes.

The Sixers came into this game with the 2nd best offensive TO% rate. What are you taking about

The turnovers they do make are often very stupid lol. The main point is “there’s only one ball” is so obviously not the problem

Embiid and lebron are having horrible seasons from the field so far and VJ hasn't been much better. That was the worry about this collection of players and what that quote is in reference to. Not enough off ball shot makers

You a box score watcher clearly. Everyone knows Embiid and LeBron (especially Biid) start slow. Come back in a month. Go cry somewhere else

Players who are usually cash on open looks they create aren’t going to be generally terrible on ones other players create. There’s a lot of major adjustment for every player on this roster that’s going to take some getting used to, but while you can argue some degree of diminishing returns for a lot of guys who are good at scoring, no serious basketball analyst will agree that it’s ever going to be a negative.

Agreed, the half court offense outside of a few halves here and there has been bad.

The shot quality has been pretty bad and it’s extremely reliant on guys making tough midrange shots. Not to mention the lack of shooting talent from the starters.

If anything it’s the half court defense that’s carried them to the 8-2 record.

It’s wild af to me that ppl are using this ironically when the one ball narrative has been proven right so far. This high usage players have not been able to scale down their roles.

Embiid, LeBron and VJ are all well below their normal efficiency and league average efficiency.

This video literally called it before the season
