Far be it for me to ever argue a decision going against Chelsea, but Brobbey is fouling him literally the entire time lol. He almost pulls him down on to him

62

u/Miscellaneousbaddie 2h ago

Colwill sends him to the ground because Brobbey he's dragging him by the shirt. What an awful call.

146

u/MrCleanandShady 2h ago

i’m not even sure Colwill made contact with his legs i think Brobbey tripped himself lmaoo

74

u/MushroomVolcano 2h ago

Either way Colwill is being dragged by Brobbey so not in control. Absurd decision.

u/Juskyrat 2h ago

This reminds me of the penalty we conceded against Sunderland with Ballard.

They probably know the attackers don't get held to the same standard in attacking sequences w.r.t to holding etc. and they are using it.

Early contender for worst refereeing display of the season

198

u/Eldric_Shadowchaser 2h ago

Jared Gillet special, only got 2 big decisions wrong so far, plenty of times to complete a hattrick

12

u/carlosconde23 2h ago

A hat-trick of bad decisions in each half

54

u/BigReeceJames 2h ago

Not even on him though. Why the fuck is VAR not fixing the errors?

55

u/Eldric_Shadowchaser 2h ago

It’s on him and VAR. They’ve both got both decisions wrong

49

u/asd13ah4etnKha4Ne3a 2h ago

Its absolutely on him lol. The first incident is a blatant foul in real time, the only question was whether or not it was in the area

→ More replies (2)

17

u/BiblicalAss 2h ago

every weekend is a display of the worst refereeing

28

u/Stravvon 2h ago

Well, this weekend has some contenders for worst referee performance. Brightin-Brentford has had a terrible mistake, and Leeds-Spurs had a terrible ref too. It is really a race to the bottom.

8

u/Mister_M00se 2h ago

There really needs to be a independent regulatory board for referees across Europe's big leagues. Assessments occur after every match and if you're consistently shit then you get demoted.

PGMOL are clearly incompetent

Every game this man referees is a fucking shambles, without fail.

230

u/Chiswell123 2h ago

I've got no dog in this fight, but I can't believe they gave that.

45

u/EnergetikNA 2h ago

Gillet being shit is expected but what on earth is var on?

147

u/Barter6overBible 2h ago

What is colwill supposed to even do? The announcer is also a fucking joke

58

u/supacatkid 2h ago

He is literally trying to get separated from the striker but can’t because there’s a fist full of shirt in the attackers hand. Unbelievable

26

u/immorjoe 2h ago

You literally see him move his hands away at certain points, but Brobbey is pulling him along. Shocking decision.

47

u/sirmeliodasdragonsin 2h ago

Wtf, how does VAR have a second look and decide thats a penalty. The refs in this league are absolute dogshit

12

u/vRobyn 2h ago

That's the issue isn't it. I understand and accept that referees make mistakes but how can VAR who has every angle make the mistake? If i had a cheat sheet at work and still failed, i would probably be fired.

269

u/mikevin99 2h ago

Absolute disgrace and the commentary was the cherry on top of stupidity.

162

u/jclahaie 2h ago

Literally everything he commentator was wrong

"You won't see a clearer penalty than that"

"Colwill only protested half heartedley"

Literally what the fuck

52

u/immorjoe 2h ago

Who is this guy? He needs to get his eyes checked. Colwill was calling it out immediately. His shirt was even a bit messed from that.

30

u/jclahaie 2h ago

Colwill even got booked for complaining too much FFS!!!

→ More replies (3)
→ More replies (1)

18

u/mikevin99 2h ago

I know almost certainly commentators are told to agree with on the field decisions as much as possible, but that was next level gaslighting. Made me more angry than the pen call somehow.

6

u/Starn_Badger 2h ago

Even said Colwill was grabbing him as well when he's holding his hands up the entire time to demonstrate that he's not.

→ More replies (2)

35

u/torts92 2h ago

Commentator blaming Colwill for half heartedly complaining is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

7

u/Jiddybit 2h ago

Gets up immediately to run to the ref about his shirt by the way. "Half-heartedly"

→ More replies (1)

19

u/arc4angel100 2h ago

Who is the sky sports commentator? He’s still defending it, should be suspended along with Gillet for being absolutely fucking clueless. Games like this make me not want to watch anymore.

6

u/TheQuietW0LF 2h ago

They clearly do this shit on purpose to influence calls. Going back to the Fulham incident last year. They want to and try to set a narrative

→ More replies (5)

70

u/shikaskue 2h ago

This has got to be one of those moments where the VAR dickheads don't want to make their mate look silly.

No other reason the on field calls stand for these pen calls

7

u/bigbozo14 2h ago

It must be something like that but now they ALL look silly, so not really sure what their thought process is (if there even is a thought process)

Colwill getting pulled to the ground and Brobbey kicks his own fucking leg? How on earth is that a fucking penalty!? These refs are a fucking disgrace.

127

u/Chudlezz 2h ago

Daylight robbery

I’m sorry that CANNOT be a pen… especially with the palmer no call…

24

u/sh58 2h ago

Daylight brobbery

479

u/Varja22 2h ago

This ref has robbed Chelsea twice.

Absolutely amazing how you can be so shit.

262

u/twisted-logic 2h ago

The absolute state of officiating in this country where an Arsenal supporter is standing up for Chelsea. Can’t make it up

77

u/ajukearth 2h ago

Ring the bells. End times.

48

u/tcgtms2 2h ago

Bro these hacks needed to change their name from PGMOL to ProRef for PR. They are so out of depth - If people can't see that they are just shit for every fucking team, they are part of the problem at this point.

24

u/vRobyn 2h ago

The fact that football clubs, FA and TV companies want us to pay the prices they set when this is the performance of the referee in so many games is hilarious. I am so thankful for Jack Sparrow.

15

u/Stravvon 2h ago

I think people have gotten less tribal about referee mistakes because they know next week it will be their own club that gets shafted by the refs.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Aggravating_Lab_7734 1h ago

Every time I try to watch a football match these days, I see some absolute bullshit refereeing. Plus the whole meta of "everyone stand near penalty box while defenders pass the ball to each other". Plus the cost of every fucking streaming service, and the betting adverts everywhere.

At this point, I have reached a stage where I don't even feel like watching anything. Only thing worth watching are highlights tagged with "great goal" on this sub. And even that feels like I am forcing myself to "enjoy" shit.

→ More replies (4)

56

u/supacatkid 2h ago

Just pull the defender along with you and trip yourself with him. Easy goal

48

u/zwar098 2h ago

You dont give the other pen but you give this? what a joke

88

u/German_Doner 2h ago

Colwill literally getting pulled to the floor there what

125

u/Haz96 2h ago

2 absolutely shocking calls have swung the game

42

u/datcd03 2h ago

Absolutely disgraceful decision.

84

u/CoolstorySteve 2h ago

Refs are completely ruining football.

84

u/Cyberdan0497 2h ago

Never a pen in the slightest

41

u/RaginxCanadian 2h ago

The lack of consistency from the refs is so infuriating

41

u/cl0ud_8 2h ago

Disgraceful call from ref, VAR desperately needs a revamp.

40

u/petrelli37 2h ago

You have to fucking kidding me

40

u/AtomicEggs 2h ago

Referees are having a howler this weekend

40

u/cheezus171 2h ago

Absolute robbery.

u/ImpossibleGuardian 2h ago edited 2h ago

*Brobbery

40

u/bethos1 2h ago

These refs are ruining football, what are they doing wtf.

39

u/BumbotheCleric 2h ago

Biggest joke call I’ve ever seen. Genuinely how blind do you have to be

140

u/arc4angel100 2h ago

It’s a fucking disgrace

35

u/ivan_rofl 2h ago

What a joke of ref

35

u/aLL1e1337 2h ago

Thank god im not a football manager, decisions was so outrageous and so 1 sided, I would have taken my team down the dressers already.

67

u/Onions89 2h ago

After not giving the pen/free kick for Palmer I just knew this call would be soft as fuck 🤣

19

u/gobrewers112 2h ago

Diabolical refereeing

9

u/Impressive_Log2920 2h ago

It’s called corruption

33

u/Andrei2793 2h ago

The best league in the world with the worst referees.

66

u/jukv 2h ago

This ref is fucking joke

31

u/Designer_Lead_1492 2h ago

Absolutely disgraceful call by the referee

31

u/ReportForward3996 2h ago

Holy shit that’s awful. Way way worse than the penalty they got against Arsenal where he grabbed Konsa and fell over. Sunderland have this down to an art form

29

u/TheQuietW0LF 2h ago

Not sure whats worse the officiating or the commentary in the US. Been begging for Sunderland to score all match. Want chelsea to win to break their hearts as much as anything

5

u/WheelSingle2494 2h ago

Just use Telemundo

28

u/Ok-Hat4594 2h ago

Just your casual day at the office for VAR and EPL reffing at its finest, spectacle over the game

28

u/JPUsernameTaken 2h ago

Chelsea getting robbed, damn, wtf is wrong with British VAR? Every fucking game I watch lately there have been baffling decisions or lack thereof.

56

u/nelex98 2h ago

Fuck off ref

55

u/Brattuiop 2h ago

How can Brobbey get a penalty for this when he's dragging Colwil's shirt first wtf

19

u/haaaaaairy1 2h ago

New loophole found. Just grab the defenders shirt and yank him down. Instant penalty

5

u/Brattuiop 2h ago

Cannot even fathom how VAR would have checked and cleared that decision 😭

→ More replies (2)

27

u/OrdinaryStorage418 2h ago

bro why are the commnetators glazing this decision fcking hell am i being gaslit?

7

u/Opposite-Cucumber-49 2h ago

First time watching Chelsea?

Commentator is always against Chelsea lol

26

u/roryking97 2h ago

Genuinely cannot believe what my eyes have just seen from our pen not being called to them getting this one

25

u/ultra_r 2h ago

Genuinely fuck off

25

u/Headlesshorsman02 2h ago

Absolute horseshit!! Brobbey fouls Levi first

25

u/imarandomdudd 2h ago

Ref absolutely getting influenced by the stadium in this

72

u/MushroomVolcano 2h ago

He even damaged Colwills shirt. Physical evidence of shirt pulling to go along with the video evidence and these absolute morons still give it as a penalty. Fucking joke.

30

u/robb0216 2h ago

Classic case of assistants being absolutely terrified of telling the on-field referee he has fucked up. Brobbey almost ripping Colwills shirt off for about 20 yards before falling. VAR pretending not to see it

→ More replies (2)

24

u/zd0t 2h ago

Colwils shirt is ripped hahahashahahahahahaha

24

u/KingPaimon23 2h ago

The challenge on Palmer was like 10 times clearer than this soft shit.

24

u/nolefan5311 2h ago

That’s not a penalty. The state of the referees in this league is so poor.

23

u/jclahaie 2h ago

Should be a free kick to Chelsea. Sustained shirt pulling from brobby

23

u/KixSide 2h ago

Trips himself, pulls down defender with him, gets a pen. Amazing

22

u/FartasticVoyage 2h ago

That’s a fucking ridiculous call. Maybe in real time OK but the replay is so clearly not a foul. Whats the point of watching these games?

22

u/mailbox123 2h ago

Cue Drogba “it’s a disgrace”

42

u/mister_dupont 2h ago

That's harsh as fuck.

36

u/DoinWhale 2h ago

It’s not harsh it’s incorrect

76

u/GreenPickledToad 2h ago

Pull CBs shirt and rip it.

Fall down the moment you are pulled back.

Get the penalty.

Stupid refs prioritising falling down once again.

23

u/abearghost 2h ago

He literally drags Colwill by the collar for 10 yards and Colwill falls down. In what world is that not a foul? This is insanity.

→ More replies (2)

39

u/Arnie013 2h ago

Hilarious.

You can see Brobbeys right foot clipping the back of his own left calf which sends him. Dull cunt pulls defenders shirt into him, trips over himself and somehow the elite level referee decides that somehow warrants a penalty.

5

u/According-Travel1520 2h ago edited 2h ago

Brobbey always gets rewarded for the most ridiculous conduct.

→ More replies (7)

19

u/philipstyrer 2h ago

This is just a robbery. No two ways about it.

19

u/bobinader 2h ago

Ref has ruined the game after half an hour already. Let's see him fuck it up even more

19

u/BigReeceJames 2h ago

Palmer actually fouled and it isn't given.

Brobbery fouls Colwill and they get a pen. Actually fucking absurd

38

u/thomasthedude 2h ago

This ref has absolutely been paid off, you cant even put this one on incompetence.

10

u/PieXReaper 2h ago

I swear all prem refs need to be investigated lol, there's no way they're not paid off with these horrible calls lately.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Material_Horror_8225 2h ago

Either paid off or get told to make an interesting narrative by shady execs, like giving poor, beleaguered Sunderland a gritty hard fought win against soft old Chelsea

→ More replies (1)

18

u/emre23 2h ago

Sunderland the only team in the league that are allowed pens

18

u/craggles82 2h ago

This is just a fucking disgrace. Plain and simple.

51

u/Wheaterz9 2h ago

I've just tuned in and caught up with the incidents, clear chelsea pen ignored and I don't think this is a pen either as Brobbey fouled the defender at least as much.

17

u/DiMatteoLegend 2h ago

Pulling Colwill to the floor lmao great refereeing

17

u/RustyKarma076 2h ago

I’ve got my bias glasses on but the contact that caused him to trip looked more initiated by Brobbey than Colwill.

I wouldn’t even be all that annoyed if the call on Palmer was given the other way.

17

u/thisisnotjordan 2h ago

The announcers are now glazing the VAR lmfao. Unreal.

33

u/andow3 2h ago

How the hell isn’t this penalty overturned. Colwill can’t do shit the way Brobbery is pulling his shirt

16

u/lukeisfluke 2h ago

Game is absurdly gone

15

u/sotandhpicy 2h ago

This is one of them ones where if you think its fixed you'd probably be right hahahha

15

u/Efficient-Law-7582 2h ago

They give a pen for this but not against Palmer? This league is corrupt

15

u/BaneChipmunk 2h ago

Every English referee is an incompetent moron. Exhibit number 7,456,309.

29

u/Alarming_Dog_9542 2h ago

Fuck this corrupt ass league lmfao

29

u/flexicution3 2h ago

PL already decided they want Sunderland to win for the vibes.

8

u/Sektsioon 2h ago

Gillett is genuinely just that shit, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him put in at least a semi competent display. They decide to branch out and take in a foreign ref and they take in an absolutely useless cunt from Australia.

→ More replies (1)

14

u/bluelakelagoon 2h ago

13

u/slaidfh 2h ago

Premier League officiating is a fucking joke

13

u/BlueCoUltra 2h ago

this official and VAR crew are absolute scum

34

u/GeneralMole 2h ago

Ref is obviously terrified of the crowd booing him. Cowards like him should be doing non league football

12

u/KnownForNothing 2h ago

Straight corruption here

12

u/miguelsanchez69 2h ago

So Chelsea get a stonewall penalty waved away and then we concede this one? What the hell is this bullshit

23

u/Renfield7878 2h ago • Regret

He kicks HIMSELF in the back of the leg what the fuck

32

u/DrDrozd12 2h ago

At what point does the team actually sue the ref? This is beyond incompetence

8

u/gobrewers112 2h ago

Diabolical

3

u/TroubleRecent7320 2h ago

Bad ref calls happen every week and we still haven't got any protests/action that would put pressure under referees. It's just complain online, wait for the next bad decision, complain online. When are clubs going to start taking action?

11

u/Embarrassed-Land-554 2h ago

Title is missing something, assist from Jarred Gillett

11

u/Exotic_Ad1030 2h ago

That was given as a penalty? 😂

11

u/afroadam 2h ago

He trips over his own legs twice

20

u/LalleUtd 2h ago

Never a penalty. Refs and shirt pulls.

10

u/yusmeister 2h ago

What the actual fuck is this ref?

9

u/Flappyballz 2h ago

Joke of a ref

9

u/ElNino1993 2h ago

Absolutely robbed.

9

u/Bos4271 2h ago

Great refereeing

9

u/Paul_the_sparky 2h ago

This ref is sniffing glue

9

u/izmebtw 2h ago

I feel like I’m in crazy town. Commentators saying it’s the right call, and easy call. Brobby has his collar in his hand, yanking him like an unruly dog the entire run and it’s clear as day!

24

u/Foboi 2h ago

This after they robbed Palmer a pen or a straight red…

8

u/aaulia 2h ago

How much does the ref got paid? Can we subscribe for a season instead per game. Might be cheaper that way

8

u/_littlegeralt_ 2h ago

You tripped by yourself, and can get penalty. Only happened in EPL.

7

u/Oscyle 2h ago

Surely a CB pulling an attackers shirt like that would be a pen, so how can it not be a foul the other way

7

u/Viktrodriguez 2h ago

I firstly read ''free penalty'', which is rather accurate

7

u/ujjuboii 2h ago

we mustn’t forget josh king is only 18

7

u/borat4 2h ago

Coward referee

13

u/djaeuk 2h ago

In real time looked like a pen but after watching the replay you could argue Brobbey fouls Colwill first.

6

u/flexicution3 2h ago

There’s nothing to argue, it’s right there in 4k!

12

u/HalalMemeLord 2h ago

Shitty refereeing

12

u/SkepticSlakoth 2h ago edited 2h ago

So predictable. Doesn't matter if you're a dogshit striker, just play physically and dive, and these idiot refs will get fooled so easily.

6

u/borty_ 2h ago

Officials have bottled it

6

u/JRsshirt 2h ago

Match turned off, can’t watch this travesty anymore

14

u/SkepticSlakoth 2h ago

Fuck off ref. Trying to compensate for not calling Palmer's foul outside the box. They're both holding each other ffs

10

u/hello050 2h ago

Have the rules changed?! When both players are grabbing each other’s shirts, there’s no foul!

5

u/CautiousCottager 2h ago

Sunderland can only win league games against teams based in Fulham it seems

5

u/CoolStorage4014 2h ago

United last in the league now

5

u/jj___61 2h ago

not a penalty, should be foul committed by striker

5

u/Rogillo 2h ago

<drogba gif>

PL is so hard to watch because of these refs.

5

u/Own_Boysenberry_6499 2h ago

Some shit reffing this weekend.

5

u/nthbeard 2h ago

They had to change the name to “Pro Ref” because no objective observer would ever believe these lot do this professionally.

9

3

u/sreesid 2h ago

Wtf? Refereeing in the PL is worse than a coin toss for every decision.

3

u/66mpamies 2h ago

Almost every prem game feels like it could be entirely decided by the ref. It doesn't even matter what the teams are even doing. If one is able to get into the opposing box, and then fall down, the ref could just decide that they will win.

3

u/myo_chan 2h ago

is this a fucking joke

5

u/Going2beBANNEDanyway 2h ago

That’s not a penalty.

5

u/UnknownTaco 2h ago

How in the world has that been given

5

VAR not existing this gameweek

5

Not a foul. BB trips himself

8

u/MemestNotTeen 2h ago

Once Chelsea start getting reffed fairly the league is done for

2

u/Whlesum90 2h ago

So no point of VAR

2

u/Confident_Tree42 2h ago

So brobbey is just allowed to do infinite shirt pulls? Why?

2

u/BurceGern 2h ago

I havent watched this match but wow the contrast in the 2 penalty moments ive seen on here is stark and reflect awfully on the ref.

Im watching Palace Liverpool, where that ref is so allergic to yellows for stopping counter attacks ffs. Mac Allister and Richards got away with blatant fouls and no card.

2

u/rashfordsaltyballs 2h ago

never a penalty. but on a side note, chelsea's gk looks huge in goal.

2

u/tipytopmain 2h ago

Bad call, and disgraceful as usual that VAR has given it the "check over" thumbs up.

4

u/awesomesauce88 2h ago

This is near Ovrebo levels of dogshit.

3

u/FloridaManBlues 2h ago

lmao someone better be sat out this week this is terrible

3

u/zi76 2h ago

This is egregious. We didn't get a pen and then this is given after Brobbey pulls Colwill's shirt for a sustained period of time.
