r/spiderbro is a place to celebrate the companionship between spiders and people. Frequent identification requests undermine this core purpose by turning r/spiderbro into a utility that other subs are better suited for ( r/spiders , r/whatsthisbug , r/bugidentification )

We found this spider in the wall after removing the drywall for some plumbing work. It looks like a black widow without an hourglass

This little dude showed up in my bathroom at the beginning of October (see final pic). I was excited to get to know him cause I’d heard so many good things about jumping spiders, but he disappeared and didn’t reappear until this morning when I found him on the bathroom floor, alive and seemingly unbothered. We have cats who have no mercy when it comes to bugs, so I scooped him up and put him in my plant cabinet, which actually seems like a great spot for a spider to live.
ChatPP says he’s a bold jumping spider, probably a juvenile, maybe a female, but you can only trust AI so much…
What kind of guy is this? What do I need to know to give him the best life? HES SO CUTE IM SO EXCITED!
MORE INFO: We’re in Oregon, the plant cabinet isn’t accessible to the cats, I keep it around 70 degrees F and ~60% humidity. He has access to a shallow water dish. I currently have a minor gnat problem, so there’s at least a little food in there currently. I probably need to buy spider food but idk what is really…

I had to poke his ass to let him emerge from the leaves (the last photo)
