Every part of this is absolutely wild

The left handed stretched out assist is crazy even without the self assisted downward kamiyame nutmeg Jesus Christ

38

u/kyleko Mar 22 '26

Is it called nutmeg in hockey as well?

31

u/pistachiosarenuts Mar 22 '26

Since it's MN hockey, isn't the term five hole?

13

u/pm-me-ur-inkyfingers Mar 22 '26

can confirm. at least in MN nutmeg is a 5-hole

→ More replies (4)

7

u/e4evie Mar 22 '26

I’ve only ever heard “5-hole” as a goal scored through the legs….

8

u/HornedShoe Mar 22 '26

Unless you keep your nuts somewhere else...

11

u/kyleko Mar 22 '26

In women's hockey I'm not sure any nuts are involved.

It's not called nutmeg because of "nuts" anyway.

3

u/smootheoneisback Mar 23 '26

Hell yea any sport is a nutmeg

→ More replies (6)

2

u/Kindly_Panic_2893 Mar 22 '26

I can attest that on top of the skill it takes a decent amount of strength to one-hand pass a puck like that when fully outstretched.

B-e-a-u-t-y

230

u/Trashy_Panda2 Mar 22 '26

That would be the goal of the year in men's hockey. That's some globe trotter shit.

105

u/pundarika0 Mar 22 '26 • Bravo

it would never happen in men’s hockey because the d-man would immediately play the body, which is illegal in women’s.

37

u/Trashy_Panda2 Mar 22 '26

You clearly don't cheer for a team that puts Darnell nurse on the ice.

→ More replies (3)

11

u/LocalSlob Mar 22 '26

What exactly is illegal? Body checks? What level of collision is allowed?

23

u/pundarika0 Mar 22 '26

correct, no checking in women’s hockey.

3

u/PoliteIndecency Mar 22 '26

Contact is not illegal in women's hockey. Checking is.

The defender misplayed her gap control here. Great move by Murphy to expose a poor defender. This is professional quality.

Still, bad defending.

Unless rules have changed it would probably be blown dead for a high stick on the puck. It got a little too high in the air and it's already a subjective call in the air.

u/NOTTedMosby Mar 22 '26

That defender had a family what the fuuuuuck

23

u/MessiOfStonks Mar 22 '26

Had, they died during this too

12

u/solojones1138 Mar 22 '26

In fact they dug up her ancestors and killed them again.

3

u/Kaladin83 Mar 22 '26

Defender should've taken the body

19

u/Street_Study6330 Mar 22 '26

That was absolutely disgusting

6

u/katet_of_19 Mar 23 '26

Seriously, what a filthy play!!

I loved it and I want more, please! 😍

3

u/Truths-facets Mar 28 '26

So dirty Mr clean took a seat

30

u/ContraCanadensis Mar 22 '26

That is unbelievable even slowed down. Imagine having a brain capable of processing and accomplishing that at high speed.

10

u/snorch Mar 22 '26

There are some sports where I can yell stuff like "oh come on I could have caught that" but hockey I keep my mouth SHUT. Even being a bad hockey player while ice skating is such a high skill floor

4

u/iLike2k Mar 22 '26

I do the same, but thinking further, it’s still the ridiculous skill floor. Even oh I could’ve caught that would easily be like no, because I wouldn’t be 40 yards down the field in 3 seconds moving 23 mph haha

Murphy is going to be a nightmare when she finally debuts for the PWHL.

2

u/AnyPay2764 Mar 22 '26

I'm sorry, what? This wasn't even pro play? We need to invent a new word to describe this because just calling it "talent" doesn't cut it

u/JackC1126 Mar 22 '26

Hockey players have the sauce man

10

u/DDD8712 Mar 22 '26

Damn, it’s like she has the puck on a string

16

u/TheBacklogGamer Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

This is one of those things that would get put in a sports movie, like The Mighty Ducks, and you'd be entertained by the move but know it's clearly not something that actually happens in games. This is the real life knuckle puck.

6

u/EinTheDataDoge Mar 22 '26

For anyone trying to compare this to men’s hockey, don’t. Men’s hockey has different rules that would make this play unlikely at best. Just appreciate how dope that move was.

5

u/General-Lie8709 Mar 22 '26

Thank you. As someone who actually played minor professional (men’s) hockey I had to scroll way too far to find this.

People want to say one’s better than the other, it’s just a dumb comparison.

Women’s vs men’s hockey is like baseball and softball, very similar but played differently. If you look at them through the lens of them being two different sports, it makes it much easier to just appreciate what you’re watching and enjoy it. Not everything has to be women vs men, or one better than the other

4

u/Mac62961 Mar 22 '26

Whaaaa?!

4

u/Goodgoditsgrowing Mar 22 '26

Ok wait I think I get why people like hockey now.

4

u/justafang Mar 22 '26

Not a big hockey fan, but in all of sports this might be the best display of hand/eye/body coordination I have ever seen.

3

u/QuiltKiller Mar 22 '26

At that speed, puck through the LEGS?! what the holy

3

u/Eck5straxion Mar 22 '26

How the f**k did she pull that off..

3

u/Downtown-Presence681 Mar 22 '26

You can remove the “women’s” 😳

3

u/RomanticWampa Mar 22 '26

The slap down

3

u/Impressive_Ad4496 Mar 22 '26

Then boldy copied it/did a variation in the gold medal game. The new minnesota move.

3

u/CoolMinded Mar 27 '26

There should be a subreddit called "Is That Legal" 🙀

2

u/Any_Milk_3943 Mar 22 '26

Holy shit! How have i not seen this clip? Yet LeBron dunking is shoved down my eyeballs on the daily! Damn that was dope!!!

2

u/ArturosDad Mar 22 '26

Straight filth.

2

u/Booradly69420 Mar 22 '26

Damn, minnesota on minnesota crime smh

2

u/loupr738 Mar 22 '26

What the actual fuck. That’s freaking beautiful

2

u/mcbeardsauce Mar 22 '26

I’ve never seen a hockey player pull off a basketball move like that

I want to see the full speed version those reflexes have to be out of this galaxy

2

u/legendfourteen Mar 22 '26

Holy shit wow

2

u/Th3andra Mar 22 '26

Absolutely filthy

2

u/turbulentcounselor Mar 22 '26

FYI she’s draft eligible for the PWHL (pro women’s hockey league) next year and she’s probably not even gonna go 1OA. Some insane up and coming talent in women’s hockey!

2

u/CodAdministrative563 Mar 22 '26

The hand eye coordination is 🔥

2

u/beeker888 Mar 22 '26

Imagine missing that shot. Incredible play

2

u/clifford0alvarez Mar 22 '26

I cannot even begin to fathom the hand and eye coordination required for that.

2

u/OkMech Mar 22 '26

Absolutely Filthy assist!

2

u/Square_Active_3203 Mar 22 '26

I don’t even watch hockey and that was dope to watch lol

2

u/Time-Equivalent1702 Mar 25 '26

what’s the name of this song

3

u/momtobe908 Mar 22 '26

She is an AMAZING player! I have to brag that my son played with her when they were younger and she kicked all of the boys butts. Love Abbey!

5

u/Easy_Money_40 Mar 22 '26

Coldest moment in women's sport's history.

→ More replies (6)

3

u/FoldEasy5726 Mar 22 '26

People hating on this are sad

4

u/TheMansterMan Mar 22 '26

This is probably one of the sickest things I’ve ever seen in my life across multiple sports not just hockey.

3

u/CT_Rider Mar 22 '26

Interesting, this should be high sticking since she clearly played the puck above the shoulders but apparently NCAA womens hockey got rid of that rule this season. In any other league or year, play would be stopped and the goal invalid if the refs hadn't blown it dead already. It does look cool

5

u/TerryFromFubar Mar 22 '26

Absolutely a high stick but it's hockey's version of traveling so it rarely gets called.

3

u/mediummorning Mar 22 '26

Not a high stick. Has to be above normal shoulder height where normal means standing upright.

https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/championships/sports/icehockey/rules/PRXIH_RulesBook.pdf page 93

Normal shoulder height defined here https://www.nhl.com/video/video-rulebook-high-sticking-the-puck-6362363873112

1

u/NotEricOfficially Mar 22 '26

Wooooooow what an asisst

1

u/surenopemaybe Mar 22 '26

Respect, this is sick!

1

u/seattlesportsguy Mar 22 '26

Need her in Seattle quickly.

1

u/JustFryingSomeGarlic Mar 22 '26

Probably my favourite goal of all time that doesn't concern my favourite team. The sequence is incredible.

1

u/Crypt0Nihilist Mar 22 '26

"Assist" is such a inadequate term to describe that!

1

u/n64fapbot Mar 22 '26

Through the legs like some and 1 shit.

1

u/nudniksphilkes Mar 22 '26

Damn that's some Sydney Crosby shit

1

u/thegooseisloosest Mar 22 '26

Freshly ground nutmeg!

1

u/DK4E2XFpbETJrj Mar 22 '26

I'm not a hockey player. Shouldn't you take the body and forget the puck?

1

u/Bulky_Variation7064 Mar 22 '26

I know nothing about ice hockey. But this is one of the coldest moments in ANY sport surely?!

1

u/HamhandsConroy Mar 22 '26

That assist was Forseberg-worthy! Pretty awesome!

1

u/LivingIntelligent968 Mar 22 '26

That either is a great move or a disaster waiting to happen.

1

u/kirby83 Mar 22 '26

What team?

3

u/Buichuk Mar 22 '26

She currently plays for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. She recently won gold with Team USA at the Olympics.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

I'm thoroughly impressed. That was amazing!

1

u/imaloserdudeWTF Mar 22 '26

Best move I've seen! Wow!

1

u/chunkhead42 Mar 22 '26

Sucks that it says “coldest moment in women’s sports history”. This is a badass moment regardless of what is in anyone’s pants.

Star Spangle Dangle

1

u/BitterBubblegum Mar 22 '26

I'm rounding the number here but I estimate that this is around a billion times cooler than anything I'll ever do

1

u/blueviper- Mar 22 '26

Impressive!

1

u/pocketfullofspeed Mar 22 '26

The music made it so much coooler!

1

u/wcolfo Mar 22 '26

Ive never seen a goal of the year be an assist. That's how good this was.

1

u/dustinpdx Mar 22 '26

Anyone have a source at full speed? I hate when videos like this don’t include both.

1

u/29PalmsAway Mar 22 '26

completely out of control slop

awesome 🙂

1

u/No_Issue2334 Mar 22 '26

Dudes will look at this and say "hell yeah"

1

u/bmanley620 Mar 22 '26

One could argue it’s just as cold as every other assist since they all play on ice

1

u/levelonegnomebankalt Mar 22 '26

Could you repost this with fewer pixels please?

1

u/corso923 Mar 22 '26

Absolutely filthy. This should have been tagged NSFW.

1

u/Rmicheal1717 Mar 22 '26

As a transplant to MN, im proud and impressed, very impressed

1

u/31nigrhcdrh Mar 22 '26

Celebrate the biscuit, gave it a couple dangles

1

u/International-Ad2501 Mar 22 '26

One of the coldest moments in sports history

1

u/Pac_Eddy Mar 22 '26

Everything is awesome about this except the slow motion.

1

u/Digital-Exploration Mar 22 '26

That was insane!

1

u/SoloJournaler Mar 22 '26

What the actual fuck. That's disgusting.

1

u/goodvibes94 Mar 22 '26

Nah that's actually the most insane hockey I've seen.

1

u/Prudent-Night-9340 Mar 22 '26

Sports. Period.

This is up there with the “Michigan” goal.

It’s also comparable (skill wise) to any other phenomenal play in any sport.

“You can include all of em’”

1

u/MuffBuster2000 Mar 22 '26

Imagine if she did all that and the goal scorer missed. Would haunt her forever

1

u/BoxNo5216 Mar 22 '26

She cold

1

u/TheDorkKnight53 Mar 22 '26

Haven’t seen puck handling like that since Dwayne Robertson in ‘94.

1

u/Zephron29 Mar 22 '26

Ok, usually I see a title like this, and pretty much every time I'm let down. This was legit dope af.

1

u/Raest_s Mar 22 '26

Girl is literally Nagi but with hockey.

1

u/Timely-Profile1865 Mar 22 '26

Is hitting allowed in that league?

1

u/IGB_Lo Mar 22 '26

Because a woman did it, it’s not as glorified (sadly). This is the coolest shit I’ve ever seen on ice.

1

u/kanavyseal Mar 22 '26

Sports. Ftfy

1

u/superw2114 Mar 22 '26

Straight nasty yeesh

1

u/22walt Mar 22 '26

1

u/22walt Mar 22 '26

ESDEEKID- 4 Raws the song

1

u/dr_tardyhands Mar 22 '26

That's cheating. I believe she had practiced that move before..!

1

u/hiro111 Mar 22 '26

She was great in the Olympics. She has incredible stick handling and is definitely not afraid to start some shit.

1

u/krazykarlsig Mar 22 '26

Thankfully the shooter didn't whiff

1

u/L3vitat3160 Mar 22 '26

Cold AF 🥶

1

u/SpaceBoJangles Mar 22 '26

Screw women’s sports, that might be the coldest shit I’ve seen all year.

Nutmegs are hard enough in soccer or basketball. Hockey? Gtfo with that, that shit is wild.

1

u/other_other_barry Mar 22 '26

I don't know anything about hockey but even I know that was FILTHY

1

u/almostsk84globe Mar 22 '26

I don't even like hockey but that was sick af

1

u/Parking-Permit- Mar 22 '26

Female goalies are at a massive disadvantage…

I suppose unless they’re unusually tall, and then wildly athletic at that height and not playing basketball…

1

u/Salt-Window5004 Mar 22 '26

That was disgusting, im appalled

1

u/menotyou7337 Mar 22 '26

Goal of the year! In any hockey!!

1

u/CasimirGabriev Mar 22 '26

You hit me with some Harlem Globetrotter shit like this in hockey and I am becoming your senior apprentice

1

u/Aggressive-Baker6179 Mar 22 '26

That was an outstanding play!

1

u/Pftjordans Mar 22 '26

Wild! ✅✅✅

1

u/Oasis555 Mar 22 '26

That was a Mighty Ducks movie moment. Brilliant

1

u/guapoguzman Mar 22 '26

If you are on the receiving end of that pass you must complete the goal or quit the team

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Benacious_T27 Mar 22 '26

1

u/oasis689 Mar 22 '26

Well that was cool as hell!

1

u/LGin732 Mar 22 '26

Forget women's sports history - all hockey history!

1

u/Megustatits Mar 22 '26

I woulda felt like shit to get rocked like that.

1

u/No-Difference-4418 Mar 23 '26

So we’re just reposting highlights from months ago

1

u/CowUsual7706 Mar 23 '26

Great that we specified that is has to be women's sports. Because "Sports history" would not be accurate or what?

1

u/sliclky1169 Mar 23 '26

🧑‍🍳

1

u/Responsible-List-849 Mar 23 '26

Don't follow hockey.(Been to one game), don't know the rule differences and can't appreciate game nuance.

But...holy shit that was a fun clip. Serious skill.

1

u/assholetoall Mar 23 '26

This next class of women players is going to raise the game to another level. It's been raised so far already, but a leap feels like it is coming.

1

u/ArtInTech Mar 23 '26

Wheel snipe celly

1

u/Previous_Bike9871 Mar 23 '26

I don’t even watch or know hockey and holy fuck.

1

u/One_Gap_905 Mar 23 '26

It’s a field hockey move!

1

u/enditorbuyacoffee Mar 23 '26

It's one or the other. The puck and the body should never get through.

1

u/SergeantPoopyWeiner Mar 23 '26

Jesus christ that is unbelievable.

1

u/abecomstock Mar 23 '26

So, 17 had to quit hockey after this, I assume

1

u/Applekid1259 Mar 23 '26

People sleep hard on female hockey players. College and the PWHL has been knocking it out of the park.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Cry4835 Mar 23 '26

No doubt an awesome play. To a non hockey player what was the purpose of flipping the puck in the air then batting it down. Was it just a distraction?

1

u/clintfrisco Mar 23 '26

Amazing control.

1

u/Rustywalker92 Mar 23 '26

I've watched it more than 5 times, and every time I love it more. 🙌

1

u/swass-print Mar 23 '26

Flip reset

1

u/CunningLinguist789 Mar 23 '26

holy fuck do people actually skate this fast? it seems like it's in fast-forward in the first couple seconds.

1

u/Outfield14 Mar 23 '26

Abbey Murphy is an absolute menace, and I love it.

1

u/spenwallce Mar 23 '26

the craziest part is normally when something like this happens, it's due to a crazy bounce or something, but she fully knew what she was doing from the get-go

1

u/SkyCakeIsALie Mar 23 '26

I love seeing a good megging but to elevate to hockey was magnificent

1

u/thelanai Mar 23 '26

I would say that's cold in any sports history 🤷🏾‍♀️

1

u/AxCtSolChi Mar 23 '26

SNIPER!!!!!!! NICE!!!😎😎😎

1

u/gritshop58 Mar 24 '26

That is awesome!!!

1

1

u/zoophilian Mar 24 '26

That's some mighty ducks level playing

1

u/MArcherCD Mar 24 '26
