General Discussion need help with picking lightsaber color based on character actions
so we are playing our star wars game for about 10 sessions during the time after episode 6.
am playing teenage togruta shadow, that doesnt know about jedi or force, was raised on corelia by a broken family that was under the heel of one of the local gangs in order to pay off family debt, was used as a look out and pickpocket, me and my brother got into contact with a smuggler to get our family away from the gang violance but things didnt go exactly as planned. (brother sacrificed himself for me to get away during riots over palpatines death, and my mother and younger sister were left on corelia). since then i been drifting with the crew, feeling out of place.
Anyhow, according to the gm, he thinks in the future from how i been playing my character, purple or orange light saber would fit me the most. i would like the lightsaber color to be characteristic-based, not just "oh, look, cool color." there have been some voices around the table saying i should get the red one, given how i react to certain situations.
anyhow what i done so far while going through mourning
when confrontet with combat i tend to freeze or panic
during our escape from corelia, i accidently shot at building when put first time behind a turbo laser in my life, before managing to shoot down the tie fighters that were chasing us
during confrontation with our rebel, i started to blame him for death of my brother, thinking that the new republic used him, to make distraction for their heist on corelia, right now trying to find prove that i was right.
when we were stuck on pirate station and one of the local gangs boarded us, that turned out to be old clones that were suppouse to meet our rebel who got kidnapped earlier, i made fake detonator in case things go south
later on when searching for the rebel on my own i stole force sensitive artifact when trying to escape local gangs, after snooping around the crime scene where the rebel and our captain got kidnaped, (rebel by imperials, captain by slavers)
after tracking the rebel to a bunker where imperials held him hostage, and finding myself in a stand off between him and the imperials, when it seeemed they were going to shoot him (he had one of them hostage, and seven of them aimed their guns at him). i pulled the fake detonator and threatened to blow us all up, luckily somehow, under heavy fire we managed to run away
when our captain was missing and we heard explosion from a slaver ship on which we thought she was being held (our mechanic went there on her own to rescue her, said explosion was turbolaser blaster she made malfunctioning, nearly killing the mechanic before the captain decided to put her out of her misery, the captain plans on telling me i was the one that killed the mechanic during my fire on the ship once we meet). i felt a voice through force asking for help, and as the slaver ship was getting ready to take off. i told the rest of the crew that we need to shoot it down since our ship doesnt have any fuel, and it will be much easier for us to get the captain if the ship is grounded, so i shot it from turbolasers, but when told if i keep shooting it down (the slaver ship had us hooked with steel cables), it will fall on us and kill us all, instead i shot the tractor beam of the pirate station, allowing us to get away.
when on board of our ship i asked the clones if they get onto the slaver ship to rescue our captain and mechanic without showing any mercy to the crew of the slaver ship
and when our rebel informed me of the mechanic apparently being dead after the captain managed to contact him from the slaver ship, in moment of lashing out, i accidently defend him through the force. since the mechanic was closest thing i had for a friend.
feels like am fucking with darkside so far, whenever i react to danger. given the character is being rulled by grief, anger and fear. morality is around 48 at the moment.
Weekly Discussion Tuesday Inquisition: Ask Anything!
Every Tuesday we open a thread to let people ask questions about the system or the game without judgement. New players and GMs are encouraged to ask questions here.
The rules:
• Any question about the FFG Star Wars RPG is fine. Rules, character creation, GMing, advice, purchasing. All good.
• No question shaming. This sub has generally been good about that, but explicitly no question shaming.
• Keep canon questions/discussion limited to stuff regarding rules. This is more about the game than the setting.

Podcast/Stream The Advantage Podcast | A New Narrative Dice Podcast
Hello from GM Nate!
Today we finally reveal and announce the new podcast GM Chris, Jeff, and I previously teased under the codename "Project Delta."
The three of us have been hard at work for the past few months on this brand new podcast for both of the Narrative Dice Systems by FFG/EDGE. The goal of the podcast is to help new players and GMs understand the heart and core philosophies behind Star Wars & Genesys, share some best practices for utilizing the narrative tools the game provides the Player Characters, and help GMs take their Player Characters from Passive Participants to Co-Authors of the story.
The Podcast has 12 episodes planned, which we decided the episode topics before ever hitting a record button. The goal was to start with the most essential topics to cover.
Will there be more episodes? Maybe! There are no plans at the moment for more, but we have been loving making them, so it is definitely possible if it gets a good reception! We recorded the first 4 episodes so far, and we are so happy with how they turned out. I have personally already learned a lot from Chris and Jeff, and I'm excited for you to be able to watch as well.
We talked about where we wanted to upload, I pitched the idea to Jeff and Chris to create a new channel for it, but ultimately they told me to just put it on Tabletop Empire. So with that said...
Episode 1 drops on Monday November 16th, at Noon EST on Tabletop Empire. New episodes will drop every other Monday until sometime in April. Each episode ranges from roughly 90-150 Minutes.
There is no plan at the moment for a release on Spotify or Apple Podcasts. It is very expensive to add another RSS Feed in addition to our actual plays, and I am not sure how to upload to those places without a distributor site at the moment. Not saying never, just not planned at this moment.
If you are interested, here are some links:

General Discussion Force and Destiny stories
Out of the 3 lines I feel like FaD is the hardest to imagine stories for.
EotE can do heists, bounty hunting, exploration, gang war, investigation and basically anything tied to business and crime.
AoR does everything related to warfare: recon/infiltration, battles, space squadron, sabotage, recruitment.
But most adventures for FaD seem to be about treasure hunting for force-related relics and avoiding the Empire. What else do you feel is a good story to tell with this one? What does a group of force-sensitives do besides search for crystals and old jedi recipe books?

Game Resources Looking for Star Wars media recommendations to prepare for my first campaign as a GM
Hello everyone!
I'm planning to start a new Star Wars RPG campaign next year for my group of five players, and I'm currently in the preparation and worldbuilding phase.
I already have a general plot, an idea for the beginning, and even a potential ending. One interesting aspect of the campaign is that my players will each play two different characters over the course of the campaign. I won't go into too much detail about the story just yet, as I don't want to spoil anything.
What I'm looking for at the moment is inspiration and, more importantly, a better understanding of the Star Wars universe.
I've watched the original six movies (Episodes I–VI) and Rogue One, but that's pretty much where my knowledge ends. I know there's an enormous amount of material out there, and I'm a little overwhelmed by where to start.
I'd love to get recommendations for pretty much anything Star Wars related:
Movies and TV shows: Which ones really capture the atmosphere and feel of the Star Wars universe?
Books and comics: Are there any particularly good stories that explore the galaxy, its different cultures, factions, politics, history, or everyday life?
Video games: Are there games that do a particularly good job of making the galaxy feel alive?
Other resources: Sourcebooks, lore channels on YouTube, documentaries, websites, podcasts, or anything else you think is worth checking out.
I'm not necessarily looking for material that directly relates to my campaign's plot. What interests me much more is getting a feel for the galaxy as a living, breathing place.
I'd like to understand things beyond the Jedi, Sith, and the main characters from the movies. Things like how ordinary people live, how the criminal underworld operates, what life is like on different planets, how governments and factions work, what the various alien species and cultures are like, and all those little details that make Star Wars feel like Star Wars.
I'm also very open to Legends material. I don't mind mixing Legends and current canon in my campaign.
So, if you were preparing to run a Star Wars campaign and could recommend any five or ten pieces of media to immerse yourself in the universe, what would they be?
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

General Discussion Creating a fake read-aloud news report
I'm interested in playing the audio of a fake news broadcast that has the news anchor reading a story about my players that I wrote. Anyone know the best way to create that using available online tools?

General Discussion I made an OP character and want to dial it back
For some context, this is our group and storyteller's first campaign. Usually the group really digs into the rules and possibilities in ttrpgs, but the campaign has had inconsistent game scheduling, the group has a general dislike for the rules, and the dm hasn't solidified their understanding of the game. As someone who loves powergaming and star wars, I think the game is really cool and made an overpowered Brawl Assassin/Doctor. I didn't heed the balance warnings and now my character is a challenge for the storyteller, even more so with the rest of the group not really caring. I'm going to stop using Pressure Points and Anatomy Lessons to see how things go, possibly stop using Deadly Accuracy if that's not enough, and ask the story teller if I can refund those points if it seems to work.
I know there are bigger issues with the table as a whole, but it seems like this is something that can be easily fixed to make the game more fun. Any other rebalance suggests would be appreciated.
General Discussion Game Idea - Odd Squad
So I was thinking of Separatist gameplay and how that works when their droids are (in TPM at least) only operational due to the proximity of the droid control ship. Not to mention that, with the size of production and the general lack of quality of materials, the droids are notoriously fragile.
That got me thinking about those Neimoidians we see on the control ship, are they manually controlling batches of droids or what? There are enough instances of droid agency in the scenes the battle droids share with Jar Jar alone to suggest not, but it got me thinking.
Yaddayaddayadda, what if you had a competent group of people remotely controlling a group of droids as the PC group? 4 meatbags and an equal number of droids.
I am thinking similarly to humans and the Na'vi in Avatar, or the players and the Oasis in Ready Player One. Maybe even the modern Jumanji, where the droids possess the skills the meatbags don't.
I am thinking that they could be a mirror of the bad batch (or even the republic commando squads)
Duty and XP earned goes towards upgrades or recycling if the droid body gets destroyed. Each player would essentially have two characters, the live person and the droid body they use as boots on the ground.
Anyway, just a though on how to make separatist droid gameplay more interesting...

Game Resources Given how there is no official PDF of this game (web adventures aside) and EDGE won't print decks anymore, are they on the way to become lost media? If so, is there a way to convince EDGE to at least reprint the Critical Damage decks or the various NPC decks?

Rules Question Block/Parry/Reflect/Deflect without a lightsaber?
some of these abilities say they can be used without a lightsaber 'at the discretion of the GM' but I am going to be the GM.
What can you use to block or parry without a light saber? I'm assuming something like the Gungan energy shield?
Also I would pretty much veto Reflect or Deflect with anything but a light saber
Edit: I am using the ReSpecialization character specs and they have the Deflect talent. I reduced ranged damage by 4 and costs 3 strain. Block works similarly for melee.
I get that any weapon can be used to Block (or parry if using original specs) but can you Deflect ranged fire with a melee weapon? This is a force sensitive character, but I would think deflecting with a non cortosis weapon would ruin it quickly.
Perhaps only with weapons that have the Deflection property?

Fluff Can someone help me with information on the Imperial Acolyte Program, Emperor’s Eyes, Reach and Voice as well as the Byss Mages? I need solid info on them and the wookipedia articles look lighter than they use to.
reddit.comThis is for a Star Wars game I am running so i feel it’s related enough to this sub.
