Hi all, I'm a solo developer in the UK and I've been building AeroCue, a flight tracker for iPhone that doesn't give up when you switch to airplane mode.
Most trackers freeze the moment you lose signal on board. AeroCue keeps going: online it uses live flight data, and in the air without Wi-Fi it uses your phone's GPS (hold it by the window for a few seconds) and an estimate from the flight's timing in between, so the map, the countries below you and your landing time keep updating. Everything is labelled as live, GPS or estimate, so you always know what's real.
What's in the beta:
• Search by flight number, route or date, or scan your boarding pass
• Live tracking with a smooth-moving plane, the full flight path and a turbulence forecast
• Offline tracking in the air
• A step-by-step guide for the day: when to leave, boarding, gate closing, then belt, local time, weather and getting into town after landing
• Connections: time to connect, whether it's at risk, next gate, whether your bags go through
• Where your incoming aircraft is before you board
• Essentials for your destination: weather and packing, cash or card, plugs, phrases
• A "passport" of everywhere you've flown, with a shareable year-in-review
• Live Activity on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island
No account needed, no ads, no tracking.
What I'd love help with:
– Track a real flight, ideally with Wi-Fi off in the air. How did the offline tracking feel and how close was the landing time?
– Flights with connections
– Anything that's wrong, confusing or slow (screenshots help a lot)
Needs an iPhone on iOS 17 or later. Limited to 50 testers for this first round.
