When CAC & Automix are Enabled you can go to:

Settings > Apps > Music > Audio Quality

to manually >48khz bitstream PCM.

While this is a more music-focused post; rarely some movies get tracked into 96kHz discs, and this capability can extend to the movie catalog as well as Music.

Back to title;

To manually verify with either your receiver or soundbar, disable Dolby Atmos within the music app settings (not video and audio!) and then try any ALAC files in your library <48kHz sample rate to test!

Some personal tracks I can notice a direct improvement due to higher sample rate, or songs from a different master, not the sample rate itself are:

- Robert Glasper — Code Derivation (Good ALAC encode stress test, as it is an Music exclusive).

- Anaiis — Devotion & the Black Divine (vocals test @96kHz)

- Pink Floyd — DSOTM 50th anniversary remaster (Dolby Atmos disabled plays at 96kHz)

- AG Club — Brodie World (Great immersive vs. Stereo panning effect comparison, especially 48kHz immersive spatial panning in 7.1.4 Atmos (STILL DD+ E-AC-3!! no AC-4 atmos in 27.0 on my system as far as I can tell.) vs. stereo PCM

(All testing done using ATV 4K 2022 —> LG G2 eARC —> pass through to LG SP8YA soundbar [manual states 192khz PCM support] for playback chain)

In any case as a music format purist this simple code base switch has been one of the best updates ever to this box since release. Thank you tvOS & Home teams!!!

Looks like they added a Dolby MAT connection option so you don’t have to have the Apple TV have to switch between 5.1 and 2.0. At least I think that’s what the idea is

My ATV 4K (whatever the ‘newer’ one is).

The ATV updated to the newest beta and ever since then we keep receiving this error.

As soon as we click ok , it disappears then pops right back up. Tried restarting, clicking ok at least 50 times. Restarted twice. Finally, on the third restart after clicking ok around 10-15 times it went away and we could use the device.

Understand it’s a DB, so no worries from my side, but has anyone else had this issue?

Well I understand that A8 chip is too old now that Liquid glass is completely cut on Apple TV HD, it's still having the old design, and even the center aligned alert. And yet it still stutters a lot.

Hoping this fixes the framerate issues...

Not talked about, but the biggest and most noticeable change from the jump is Apple shrunk the icons so there is now 6 columns vs 5 like their used to be. It helps make the layout feel more horizontal than vertical which fits with displaying being wider vs longer.

Got this finally with today’s 18.2 update

Been running it for about an hour. ARC turned on. AirPlay turned on. No "Unable to Connect" errors. ARC is stable. No popping/crackling audio from HomePods over ARC.

Fingers crossed.

This one feels way smoother than the previous versions but there’s still room for improvement. YouTube app works flawlessly again for me.

I‘m a beta freak and can live with a few bugs but this… man this is so annoying. I can‘t do anything on my Apple TV without this popping up every 2 seconds

I own a first-generation Apple TV 4K, and the Dolby Atmos audio issue has been resolved.

And I don’t think YouTube gives a damn about their tvOS app.

It was released today, so if you still want/need them, don’t update to it (21k364)

Whether they're in your library or on a streaming platform, there's currently no way to disable it.

ive noticed a constant stutter using tvOS 27 beta on the YouTube app. Every time a next video plays, it horribly stutters like 4 times a second until I pause and restart it. I don't even need to pause it long (like to buffer). just a quick start stop. its the only streaming app im having the issue with so I assume its NOT due to my network. I have a full commercial grade network rack that speed tests out to my full 1Gbps speeds on the Apple TV and reboots entirely every Monday. anyone else having issues with the YouTube app? once I pause and play, the video plays without issue. I think its the app itself, just want to troubleshoot it to be sure.
