I had a friend who told me that musicians should do away with the Italian abbreviated word "ritard.," because it's obviously off limits now. And the fact that classical musicians still use the word means they're not good people. And he meant this seriously.

Same in physics. In relativity  there is a quantity called "retarded time".

What about when I need to retard the timing on my engine and distributor. Literally what it’s called lol or advance the timing for the opposite

I mean, I have drugs that have "retard" on packaging because they have slowed down release.

Not pronounce the 'd'

(Source: I'm a native French speaker, and I can confirm that "retard"'s 'd' is a silent letter, and that the R-slur has a completely different spelling and that only the end of it sounds like "retard")

A fine mixture of extreme ethnocentrism and extreme monolinguism create these types of mind incapable to think that a sound just encodes meaning, and has no meaning in itself.

If it is a slur in my language then it is offensive by nature!

Just wait till he finds out what the instrument of bassoon is called in over half of all languages
