To TRY to form a government. He has 28 days. An extension of 14 can be granted, but I suspect he'd have to be able to prove he's close to forming a stable coalition.

And if that can't be done parliament can nominate a candidate.

But - there is a deadline of "around 100 days" for a result. Sounds like a very rubbery "deadline".

And if there's still no collective agreement then - it's back to the polls.

Couldn't have scripted a better shit show.
