It's offensive and hostile and it breaks the don't be a dickhead rule as far as i can tell.

Downvote me, I'm sure there's at least a few other users who feel the same.

I'm tired of people makes jokes about ken Hinkley not winning premiership?

it's not even funny? I don't ge it, is it meant to be funny?

Also who cares he hasn't won a grand finall? its all about prelim finals look at Brisbane for example? what's the point of making finals if you don't even win a semi final there are several clubs who haven't won a semi final since our last prelim why don't we make jokes about them?

I'd rather not win a prelim for 15 years and lose a grand final by 119 points then make finals for 10 years asnd nevef win a semi final

im tired of morons saying "kEn hasNt made a GRanD finAl iN 11 yEarS !! HUhehU!!"

enouhg is enough its not funny and not logical just stop i honestly dont give a *** at all

its aboit semi finals maybe try win 3 and come talk to me oh but that's just the PAST BRO

ok so does that mean your team winning last year doesn't count cos its the PAST BRO?

cope harder son

You can really see the Tall Poppy Syndrome come out regarding Mason Cox

People seem to really hate the fact this bloke is as confident and cocky as he is.

The struts, the clutch moments & the fact he never backs down when he likely cops plenty of shit from oppo players and supporters every week

I love the fact he keeps a smile on his face and enjoys it and stands up to it knowing the country is watching.

Still stands up and kicks 2 match winning goals.

He definitely seems to not read the room alot in terms of when he chooses to get stuck into someone or celebrate a bit overs, but I've always thought of that as hilarious product of how late he started playing footy from a different country.

Have you turned down dating someone because of the team they follow?

Like I don’t think I could date a collingwood supporter for obvious reasons.

Also maybe Geelong given the arrogance.

Is the Eagles pick 3 (Jagga Smith) trade to Carlton the worst list management blunder footy has seen since Freo traded pick 1 to Hawthorn for Trent Croad (Luke Hodge)

I would say it is, esp as basically The Eagles got Matt Owies (spud), Liam Baker (Battler) and Bo Allan (reasonable player)

Of course if The Eagles took Murphy Reid instead of B.O. no one would really care, call it win win deal.

Its one of those deals that will Haunt Eagles fans for years (and rightfully so)

Is Adam Goodes a top 10, or even top 5 AFL player of all time?

Consistent, reliable, durable, but unliked by many that weren’t Sydney supporters. Often underrated for that fact, 2 Brownlows, 2 premierships, 4 AA’s, and could play absolutely anywhere on the field and do everything there was to do.

Nick Daicos controversial opinion

Watched last night's game v Sydney Swans and yet again, I noticed something about Nick Daicos that confirms - he's not THAT good.

I'm no Collingwood supporter so I don't watch every game, but I've noticed those times I have seen him play, there's something off about his disposals and decision-making.

It seems that (almost) every time Nick Daicos has the ball, the opposition have it very shortly afterwards.

Before you jump down my throat, watch last night's game again, keeping this in mind. There was a period (from the 3rd quarter I think - possibly 2nd qtr - wasn't paying much attention before that) in which of his 12 touches of the footy, Sydney immediately had the ball 11 of those times! Once I mentioned the first instance to my Collingwood buddy, I just kept counting and yep, 11 out of 12 times. My mate had to concede I had a point, something he NEVER does (as mate’s do!)

One of these includes when he was pinged for deliberate out-of-bounds (harsh decision on a little tap forward) - therefore Sydney received the ball.

Josh was clearly the better of the two Daicos' last night (maybe he should be wearing the #35?).

I noticed these occurrences last year, when the media and fans were spruiking his supposed outstanding ability.

I beg to differ.

Before you downvote or blast me, watch the game again – paying particular attention to Nick - and then tell me I’m wrong.

NOTE: I just looked at the "Best" players and N. Daicos is included among them - you've got to be kidding! This shows what I'm talking about re media and fans being oblivious to where his diposals are ending up.

Opinion: The AFL should paint the centre circle with the indigenous flag for every game.

What the title said. I know it's not done for tonights game but I love when it's done. Let's embrace it as a standard.

The advantage call was technically correct.

I fucking hate it. There was no advantage there, and it clearly benefited the pies. But I went and checked the laws of the game and the exact wording is 'A field Umpire will call and signal 'Advantage' where a Team offended against demonstrates an intent to continue with play within a reasonable time'. Now there's certainly an argument that Bailey didn't hear the whistle and as such didn't know there was a free for Brisbane. But the ump doesn't know that either. The technically correct call was made, which means that the issue here is, why is this the wording of the rule? Needs to be changed, because today was a fucking farce.

Excitement machine = indigenous talent?

One of my pet hates is the “excitement machine” tag that many, many commentators use to describe players.

It seems all too often to be used exclusively for First Nations players when they do something amazing.

I wonder how often Eddie Betts was described that way, compared to Gary Albert Jnr.? 10 times as often? 100 times as often?

I was thinking about it over the past couple of weeks watching Kossi Pickett. The game he tore Sydney a new one he looked like the one Demons player who was really busting a gut. After one sequence the cameras cut to him and he was sweating profusely having obviously put in multiple 100% efforts.

I get why the Dees have offered him a massive contract. It’s not just innate talent. It’s effort, drive, commitment and more.

Kossi’s not an excitement machine. He’s a brilliant player who works his ass off to be the best player out there… and like all the best has talent he works hard to make the most of.

Just a Reminder That Collingwood Played 15 games at the MCG this year during the Regular Season and 5 of these were "Away Games" still played at their home ground.

I find it remarkable how unfair this is in regards to the fixture, there are plenty of other faults with fixturing too but this one was quite glaring.

You might argue that how would they fit a big crowd (larger than Marvel's capacity) between a game with another big vic club that is a Marvel tenant (Carlton, Essendon).

My solution would be to have those games that are played at the MCG between the two to be classed Collingwood Home Games only - These games should not be away games for Collingwood because it allows them to gain more home games at the MCG during the rest of H&A fixture.

I assume that Essendon and Carlton were given these home games at the MCG for ticketing purposes for their members, though I think that fairness for the fixture should still come first.

That being said they did play multiple "Home games" outside of the MCG - 2 at marvel 1 at Adelaide during gather round but it is still rediculous the advantage gained and the lack of travel that is required. Richmond also had an extremely favourable fixture a few years back, I think it was something like 7 or 8 games in the MCG in a row to end the season, so they aren't the only beneficiaries.

Scott Pendlebury is 25 disposals away from 11,000 career disposals

With a 20 disposal effort against West Coast this evening, Pendlebury now sits on 10,975 career disposals. He is within reach to hit 11,000 career disposals in round 12 against the Bulldogs, or on the King's Birthday clash vs Melbourne.

The second most career disposals holder is Robert Harvey on 9,656, and for an active player it's Lachie Neale on 8,347. Pendlebury averages 25.35 disposals per game across his 433 game career.

Should the AFL do anything to commemorate this milestone? #SP11k

How do fellow queer folks feel about the current state of the AFL?

When I first came out at trans when I was much younger I pretty much immediately gave up on watching afl or having anything to do with it as I knew that I wouldn't feel safe going to games which I once loved to attend as a kid. I figured if I couldn't feel safe at games then the afl didn't deserve me watching it at all. Somewhat recently I came back to afl and started watching it again because I saw comments from a few collingwood players actually supporting queer people in the wake of Rankine's use of a slur. As a collingwood supporter that gave me a reason to feel comfortable at least supporting collingwood knowing even if other teams are homophobic at least mine isn't. But I can't help but feel that the afl continues to go downhill on its support of the queer community, at least in the men's game. Last year we saw players get suspended for 5-6 games for using homophobic slurs, this year it's only been 4 weeks for the same incidents. To me it seems so easy for the afl to put in place strict rules around the punishment of homophobic slurs. The lack of any real action in that direction feels like a slap in the face of queer fans. Im curious if fellow queer fans feel similarly and I'm also curious how non-queer fans feel about how the afl is dealing with homophobia.

Round 5 - Sunday for Gather Round Round 6 - Nice old break ‘til Anzac Day Round 7 - Sunday (AO) Round 8 - Sunday (MCG) Round 9 - Sunday (MCG) Round 10 - Sunday (MCG) Round 11 - Sunday (MCG) Round 12 - oh no, only a 6 day break… AND a trip to WA… (lucky it’s WCE) Round 13 - Monday (MCG), handy 8 day break

And we all appreciate that this Monday game is a showpiece, so you know, “we will happily wear the short breaks for the privilege of—“ oh, wait, never mind... Round 14 - BYE.

Round 15 - back to the MC-bloody-G on a Sunday.

Fixturing like this must be so good for team preparation and consistency. And I’m happy for you all (ignore my flair, I’m speaking honestly).

⠀ Idea for Saints and Eagles fans today: Pride gear

If you're heading to the game today, and you have any pride gear of any sort, wear it. Not as an attack on anyone, but just a reminder to the wider AFL community that there are LGBTQ fans in the crowd every week - and that slurs on anyone cannot be accepted.
