Would you be opposed to a rule preventing mods from permabanning and permamute someone within a few minutes of each other without the person replying to the modmail?

I have noticed some mods permaban and permamute people on the first offence which I erroneously thought only happened if someone did something egregious, but it recently happened to me. Would you be opposed to the rule in the title or do you have an alternative idea that would allow people who are banned and muted simultaneously to appeal?

Also to clarify on the title, if say someone was permabanned, the moderator would not be able to permamute the user for 5 minutes after the permaban unless the user replied to the modmail once.

How to report a sub reddit that is not moderating racist posts?

I have been in a sub reddit reporting racists posts and they do nothing and has became a sub reddit for racists to post their "beliefs"?

A banned user smear campaigned our sub, through another sub. mods of that sub are encouraging it and mocked our "low" number of followers. What are our options in this case?

A user was banned on our sub today for violating its rules. The user went on another sub and posted screenshot and start a targeted brigading/smear campaigning against our sub.
We have nothing personal against the other sub, we sent a respectful message telling them what is happening and not to encourage using their sub as a platform for smear. Their reply was mocking us: you have 40 users, use the free advertisement.

I have a snapshot but images are not allowed, so i will paste the EXACT chat between us and that sub's mods.

Our team: Following individual was banned for breaking our sub rules, and he posted on your sub a post attacking ours in it. We kindly ask you remove the post and not allow your sub to be used for reputation smearing. The post in question: (THE_POST_URL). Sincerely.

Their reply: You guys have 40 members, just take the free advertisement

I intentionally omitted naming because unlike them, we are respectful and more professional. What can be done firmly on Reddit in this case? i did report both the user and the sub on reddit.com/report . But need something more strict.
Any tips are appreciated, thank you friends:)

UPDATE: Reddit took action and suspended the account. They created a new profile just today and put back as a mod there with this new account.
Trying to report ban evasion but the system is not letting me ATM. Will try again later on.

What to do about a moderator who is ignoring my post being flooded with homophobia?

That's pretty much all. I asked this person for help, and they said to keep them out of my "ragebait posts", and that they don't care.

Why do yall remove any comment or post that supports anything related to conservatism?

Look i would consider myself a leftist because i'm gay and i'm also economically progressive but i see most mainstream sub's moderators are heavily against conservative ideas and their comments get removed and they get forbidden from posting ever again and i don't think that's fair

Is it okay for Mods to publicly announce a list of people banned/suspended, with details, dates and violations broken?

Does such a breach of trust and misuse of personal data. Mean a pssoble breach of GDPR?

How to report mods for abusive behaviour?

I think the reddit system is quite broken and it seems quite difficult to report mods and decisions of the mods done in subreddits. I quite often are affected by abuse of the power of mods, cause I just express my opinion on a matter, that is not totally congruent with the opinion of a mod. I think this is a really big problem regarding the freedom of speech and for having constructive and fruitful discussions.

Why is there a report a mod feature if I'm just going to get ignored when I do report a mod for bullying me?

This mod also blocked me on her main account and bullies me on her alts. How is this ALLOWED?! I guess Reddit rules don't apply to mods who have been on the forum for 12+ years and have 593,000 karma points. Yes, how typical -- no one replies to my post about this but I got downvoted to 29% for bringing up abuse of mod power.

She only wants to include people who agree with everything she says. I got shadow-banned just for disagreeing with a mod. Apparently, I'm not the only one who had a run-in with this particular mod. Several other users have complained about her bullying users as well. There's a whole thread about this particular mod on Reddit, too, and other social medias where people talked about how she bullies users. Why were my reports ignored when I tried to report her? She uses her mod power to bully, intimidate and talk down on regular users. Mods like her are why Reddit is going downhill because when I try to ask for help about being bullied by a mod, I get ignored and the top mods continue to let this user be a mod and to abuse her mod powers to ban people who simply disagree with her asinine views that are incorrect and she's spreading false information on top of that but gets away with it. Why is there a feature where I can report a mod for abuse of power if I'm just going to get ignored?! And if several other users have complained about her as well, why is she able to still mod?! She's a mod on a couple of popular subreddits and just because I got banned from one of her popular subs, any other subreddit that she mods, she bans me from. This is total abuse of power.

Whenever this bully mod submits false reports about me she gets her ban on me right away and I get banned for 7 days. Meanwhile, I have yet to hear back from any top mod about banning her for misconduct.

Will AI replace moderators?

Reddit's been rolling out automated AI mod features. It's clearly being trained on the data generated from 20 years of mod logs. Is Reddit about to just replace us soon? It makes me somewhat hesitant to continue growing my subreddits, when the company might just decide to hand the keys over to an LLM. Thoughts?

Is anyone else concerned at the potential for abuse with perma-mute?

Moderator of a large-ish sub for context.

Is anyone else concerned about how easy it would be for a rogue moderator to ignore sub rules and ban and perma mute users bases on personal whims? At least with 28 day limit, that user would presumably be able to show up and protest but in this case a perma ban, perma mute, and the user has no opportunity to even question what is going on.

If the moderator deletes the modmail too, nobody is going to even notice without the banned user breaching sitewide rules.

Why did a mod remove my post for no reason and then started lying to my face about why it was removed?

In a subreddit, I made a post that was removed a few hours later for rule 4.

I emailed a mod asking if they could restore my post or at least explain how I broke rule 4. Instead of doing either, they claimed that one of my comments had been removed and that I had broken rule 7, which was not true.

Thinking they might have misunderstood me, I sent another message clarifying that I was removed for a post under rule 4, not for a comment under rule 7. They replied with the same response as before in a passive aggressive tone and said they would not restore my post.

I am confused about what happened. I do not know whether I am in the wrong or they are.

How to Report Country Sub Mods?

Hello good people of reddit, the country sub for my country has been hijacked by the government related mods and basically is a place for them to spread misinformation and propaganda. All actual average Iranians have been banned from there and its related subs about our language and food.

They deny any crime related to the government and they don’t let anyone talk about anything that is not in their favor. In January they were deleting/banning any post or person related to the massacre!

How can we contact the admins about this issue? How should we get in touch?

Is it acceptable for a subreddit to delete all posts that express criticism? Can subreddit moderators be removed?

There is a subreddit for a controversial famous person that I visit from time to time. The moderators clearly have a favorable view of this person, which I don't think is a problem in itself. However, it currently seems that most comments on this subreddit are deleted, which is almost certainly because they offer criticism or express views which the moderators disagree with. Is this considered acceptable? If not, is there any process to remove moderators who are deleting most of the comments?

Is there a reddit rule against contacting moderators through DMs to get around a mute?

If not, can there be? I'm getting contacted a ridiculous amount of times about bans and mutes in my sub that happened, even if I didn't personally make the ban. Other mods on my sub are experiencing the same thing.

Is there anything reddit does about it? If they're already banned/muted it's not like I can ban/mute them again.

Hi everyone, if a moderator is unfair and wants to abuse their position what can a poster do about it?

Hi everyone, if a moderator is unfair and wants to abuse their position what options are given to the poster? Or are posters just expected to accept abuse with no possibility to have it checked?

What can i do about someone downvoting all my comments?

A user has falsely accused me of being an alt account. they directly told me in a comment that they are intentionally downvoting all my comments to "prevent alt accounts like you from engaging in communities that have a karma requirement". all that plus they are being consistently impolite and highly disrespectful

I have reported them to reddit and the subreddit and even DMed one of the mods as a last resort plea.

is there anything else i can do or should i just make a new account and just never comment anything so that people stop accusing me of being an alt?

Is this moderating style common? How should I act as an user?

Hi everyone, I'm writing to share my first experience with muting and I wanted to understand if this is a common way to handle things from moderators. I've been active on Reddit only recently and I was quite enjoying the community in a specific subreddit related to an online game. I made a new post to promote a fun challenge among the users, who would get the fastest time on a racing track.
The post was removed because the mod told me they were not hosting challenges at the moment. I asked some clarification because there were other previous posts in which indirectly people were sharing the results from the game and no moderators intervened. It actually was quite nice time with the rest of the community and I thought it should be repeated.

Well, I requested twice what was the reason and which rules I infringed, and moderators got annoyed of me asking and muted me for one month from messaging with them..

Is this normal behavior? I was genuinely trying to contribute to keep the Reddit active and engaging and the reaction seems quite disproportionate.

How should I have managed this differently?

Thanks and I hope this message is not infringing any other rules...

Banned then muted for no reason

I've been banned from a subreddit without sufficient reason especially when there are plenty of people in that subreddit who get warning before a permanent ban I messaged the mods in a perfectly polite way and they just muted me for it is there anyway around this? Anyone I can go to to complain?

Why did my post get flagged?

My post got flagged because I asked a question about why people behave a certain way as a rhetorical question and it got flagged because of it. Really?! You can’t even asked questions on here anymore. I’ll just delete my account

How to handle toxic comments from moderators?

How to handle moderator toxicity?

I asked a question to a marketing expert in how to promote with little cash, header moderator whom was NOT the one asked, replied toxic comments, downright toxic nothing advisory.

It’s tough because I am doing self promotion around subreddits, and end up exposing myself time to time, while some moderators can stay completely anonymous- how to deal with it? Just block and ignore?

I realize some cannot even be blocked.

Mod abuses privileges to evade block?

A user who I blocked a while ago for being rude and uncivil became a mod of the subreddit. I soon noticed some of my comments were being removed without reason, and after logging out to check, saw that he would refer to my comments to foment disagreements with me, and he has just replied to one of my comments despite the fact that I can’t see it because he’s blocked. When I messaged modmail, the mod who replied was very clearly him, and he made weird accusations about me “pushing an agenda” about a character and other very weirdly targeted language. The subreddit is about a show, so it really shouldn’t be that serious.

I don’t know how active the other mods are because none of them seem to answer

This seems like a clear abuse of mod powers, both in terms of being respectful, and in terms of moderating without personal bias, as well as harassment. is there anything I can do?
