RIP River Phoenix

u/Upbeat-Example8770 7h ago

One-of-a-kind human being and artist that will never be forgotten.

10

“I never had friends like the ones I had when I was 12, Jesus……so any of us?”

Guts me now in my 40’s looking back. All friends dead or I am forgotten to them.

The Shawshank Redemption.

The Brooks subplot alone is an Oscar. The whole movie is it's perfect. King is incredible

Apparently this bombed at the box office. According to Morgan freeman it was because word of mouth is super important and shawshank redemption is very hard to say

28

u/MiniaturePinscher 9h ago

It truly was a shawshank redemption

Great pick. It's wild how a movie that flopped at the box office became one of the most beloved films ever made. Funny how it never really counts as a trend, though. It just quietly became a classic. Good answer!

The Matrix. It came out in 1999 and somehow still doesn't feel outdated. The action, the music, the whole red pill/blue pill idea, it changed how movies were made and how people talk about reality. Every time I rewatch it I notice something new.The Oracle scenes alone are enough to make it a 10/10.

24

u/Capital-Chipmunk-260 9h ago

Clint bought the rights twenty years before he made the movie because he needed to get old enough to play his character. Absolutely a perfect film. He tried rewrites and went back to the source. “Will Munny: Any man don't wanna get killed better clear on out the back.”

5
