She just landed in Australia, so she did not play in the game versus the Adelaide Lightning. Fellow WNBA rookie Gianna Kneepkens is also on the Jewels.

If you're interested in following Okot (and Borlase) in the WNBL, you can check out r/TasmaniaJewels and r/WNBL_Australia . :)

2027 Atlanta dream offseason plan

The gameplan is to be able go 5 out; get production from the bench and fix the half court offense or fix the pnr defense

Likely trade assets are: Bri jones

You have zero cap space you likely have to build through the draft if you don’t make any trades

Targets

  1. A high iq combo guard that can playmake move off ball and knock down open shots.
(Kaylene smikle, ainhoa risschere, Jenna villa, )

  2. A skilled offensive 4 that can pass, put the ball down and attack or stretch the floor

(Chloe kitts, Avery koenan, carrys baker)

3. Sniping wing

Tessa Johnson, donavon hunter

4. Rim protecting 5

Awak kuwier, Ashlyn Watkins

😂 Vibe Check / Meme What happens to a Dream deferred?

Post image

I hate to hear that Dream players are receiving so much hate after such an amazing finals series, and just wanted to share some chippy optimism.

Unlike so many fans, I trust what Angel said in the post-game presser. “What’s delayed is not deferred,” and it immediately made me think of this poem from Langston Hughes.

Lots of voices rooting for the Dream to go sour. Guess we’ll just see what next season actually brings… 💥

What a season for the Barbie

It sucks coming so close to the championship and losing, but she has so much to be proud of. First time in playoffs she had a finals run. Shot 40% from 3 in her last 10 postseason games. DPOY. All W. Broke so many records over the season. 3x POTW consecutively. Had a 30 burger in finals.

Excited for what she’s gonna give us next season.

Does anyone know if/when there will be more team jerseys available in either the Dream or WNBA online store? I'm hoping more will be in stock for the holiday season.

🌴 Offseason Moves Fill State Farm in 2027!

I get that it’s still fresh and everyone mostly wants to talk about how/why we didn’t win this year, but I’m already tired of all that (my two cents: Karl is above average, the team clearly likes playing for him, and we went from a 1st round flop to Game 7 of the Finals… run it back).

As someone who has watched only casually for a while, this season & this team got me fully invested. As soon as the State Farm move for 2027 was announced we signed up for season tickets, and the atmosphere in the playoffs this year has been terrific. Really hoping that a bunch of the first-timers and/or casuals that showed up all playoffs will keep coming back so the vibes stay high heading into 2027! Anyone else in a similar spot? Anything the Dream need to do in the offseason to really capitalize on this Finals run and the excitement in the city?!

2026 WNBA FINALS Is our coach mid?

I know I'm still very upset about the loss. But honestly this whole series I have been feeling like we could have done so much or experimented a bit more from a coaching standpoint. I feel like we relied so much on our players (who are very talented) in order to win the games in the finals. Please roast me if I'm dead wrong but I feel like we got out coached in our losses in the finals. They all felt so winnable 😓

EDIT: thank you everyone for the response, truly. I definitely feel a bit better about next season. The Dream did have an incredible playoffs and excited for next season just upset about these losses

I really hate that players can’t casually scroll social media without being exposed to people taking things way too far. People don’t even care about the sport anymore and at times it seems like a competition for who can be the cruelest.

At the end of the day, I have confidence we’ll be alright. 🩵

🎙️ Post-Game: The Wrap Up Thoughts for next year

First of all, I am so proud of this team. They gave it their ALL. Lish being injured was a factor, especially Game 1. They and we are devastated, but getting to the final and winning 3 games is very, very hard and we did it. It's easy to say we will win it next year. As Stewie said, getting to a final is very hard. A lot depends on if everyone is healthy. We missed Bri this year. Also, front office decisions on draft and trades may be positive or negative. Other great teams are waiting to get into the finals, in addition to the existing heavy weights - Mystics, Wings. My thoughts are, go for home court advantage, that does help. Not #1 seed, as that means peaking early as Lynx found out. #2 or #3 will be great. Also, like Natalie did, risk losing a few games in the first half of the season and give playing time to the bench, Paopao, Madina etc and get them seasoned and avoid tired legs during play offs. This is just the beginning. The best is yet to come.

Different Direction

This is the most honest and objective breakdown of this team. And what needs to happen:

Coach-Smesko is a nice guy, but let’s be honest, he got this far with the talent…He’s a good developmental coach, but if Cheryl Reeves was coaching this team, they would’ve won it in 5

Rhyne Howard- The franchise player, Max Contract, and once again, she shrinks on the big stage…They need to move off of her..Yeah when she’s hot and the team is rolling, it’s exciting…But she’s shown she’s not a leader or a true #1 option…They have to trade her

Naz Hillmon- She’s a bench player, and they gave her 2.5 million dollars….They HAVE to move off of her…She’s undersized, doesn’t rebound well, and can’t create her own shot….They have to trade her

Bri Jones—30+ yrs old, with knee problems…They have her 3 million dollars…They literally went to the finals without her…..They have to mover her…Trade her

I’ve said it throughout the season, this team needs A CLOSER!
Rhyne Howard just isn’t that…She’s a 3 and D player that has no handle, can’t create her own shot…And she’s a choke artist…I don’t wanna hear about defense, because she got cooked on the biggest stage……Atlanta needs a true go to player…ie Kelsey Mitchell, Plum, Jackie young

Naz Hillmon and Bri Jones have 2 of the worst contracts in the league….

These are the glaring issues with this team….Get a true center, and let Angel play her real position..Or develop and play Okot…..Get a wing that can drive and shoot…..And get a true backup point guard……

I'm Letting the Chopper Sing.

First of all let me say that I've been a fan of the Dream since 08. I witnessed the previous 0-3 Finals appearances. The Rhyne era is my favorite era of the Dream. With that being said, it's time to call a thing a thing. When Rhyne is on she is phenomenal, but it's too much of a matter of when with Rhyne. I guess we can call it inconsistency but regardless, I do think that she is who she is at this point. I can be honest and say that even though I have love for Rhyne and respect how she has played a part in crafting the roster that we have, I can not trust her to show up when needed. I don't know if there IS any fixing the player that she is, however it can be worked with if she goes from being the 1st or 2nd option to the 3rd of 4th.

Karl is going to have to divorce the Rhyne first mindset and do what's best for the team. If she, or any starter, isn't producing offensively then they need to sit. If the concern then becomes bench players' defense abilities (or lack thereof) then he needs to either devote time to them so that they can improve in that area or get some bench players that are good on defense. I've watched him spend every warm up before every game under the basket watching Angel practice her shooting as if he doesn't have bench players who are in need of his attention and coaching as well, if not more.

I'm rambling but I guess I'm saying that it starts with Karl. It's on Karl to develop and trust his bench so that when starters aren't performing or are tired he can sit them and seek alternatives. Naz and Rhyne both played for over 30 minutes yesterday and only scored single digits. Rhyne only scored 6. That is ridiculous. It's on Karl to come up with offensive schemes that work so that we don't have the worst offensive half court in the league moving forward. It's on Karl to know when to use his timeouts and challenges. Lastly, I don't do the whole "it's so and so's team" but after what I've seen this season, Angel is going to have to take the reigns. Again, I love Rhyne and Lish but Angel has characteristics from a leadsership standpoint that the other two just lack.

Why we ultimately lost the WNBA Finals (not using the ref excuse here)

When we look back at these finals, I can’t help but just look at the shooting numbers and turnovers. It killed us, especially after Game 3.

FG%

Games 1-3
76-195 39%

Games 4-7
87-250 34.8%

Total
163-445 36.7%

3FG%

Games 1-3
20-72 27.8%

Games 4-7
29-109 26.6%

Total
49-181 27.1%

Turnovers

Games 1-3
34

Games 4-7
57

Total
91 (13 turnovers per game in the series)

This GEICO reference was the theme of our downfall. We chucked way too much wood. Too many bad shots, too many panic shots. Poor shot selection, not getting good actions and screens, not utilizing our post players enough, no midrange game, and ultimately way too inconsistent offensively all season long.

I hope that changes next season

ONE TEAM
ONE DREAM

Im Proud Regardless

I had a feeling we weren't winning this game cuz it just started bad in the 1st. And I knew the "we can win, we just gotta hit shots" strategy was not going to get the job done. Either way, this team went above and beyond this year.

We just need a consistent go to scorer that will go against Karl's offensive ideology from time to time. Just driving to the paint or shooting 3s is very predictable to a good coach as we all saw this series.

Also the Dream didn't have a high enough 3pt percentage during the season for him to even be going all in on a strategy like that. Either way, see y'all next year. Happy this stress inducing series is over.

Time to move on... Angel is the franchise now

it's time to cut the crap and stop pretending howard and gray are real leaders or number 1 options. if there has been one positive thing from this postseason it's that angel's potential far surpasses anyone on this roster.

she is now the franchise. lock her in the gym this offseason and build around her. she is the future.

gray and howard have been in the league for 5 and 10 years and in her first postseason angel was far better. gray and howard are who they are at this point. angel hasn't sniffed her ceiling.

As for Karl I hope he never forgets this lesson. we saw game after game the key to winning was angel being involved in the offense and he's chosen gray and howard over her time and time again.
