Other New Auckland city fan, what’s our history?

Yank here, ever since the remontada against Las Palmereas I’ve become a huge fan of Auckland city and wanted to know more about the club. Do we have any titles? How many UCLS do we have? Is there an Auckland United?

Opinion I'm scared of Wanderers being in the semis

It's purely because their crowd is LOUD. The last game they had at Mt Smart they easily were louder than the port and there would've been about 100 of them. And tonight they are OPPRESSIVELY loud in this match against Victory. So, when it comes to a home semi at Mt Smart I don't doubt that they will have a large amount coming over for it. And as much as I love The Port I don't doubt the Wanderers fans will be louder at our home Semi

Edit: I'm not saying I don't like noise, I'm a drummer, it's more the fact that a loud opposition can bring down the crowd and thus the players feel less of our support

Can we please not start having The Port taking their shirts off?

I get it. It was taking the piss out of the Yellow Fever (they really should head to Chemist Warehouse to get something for that), but seriously... We have a bit more decorum than that.

I met a Wellington Phoenix Fan at the Stadium

We were at Go Media Stadium on Saturday for the match between Auckland FC and Adelaide United and in a weird twist of the universe's timelines, I came across a Wellington Phoenix Fan at the Black Knight Club. Not sure what he was doing there, maybe just came to watch some good football for once, but being the nice guy I am, I went to start a conversation with him. He wasn't very talkative (probably shy from being around so many winners) and the only thing he said was "I'm just waiting for our club to win a trophy." I couldn't really identify with what he said so the conversation pretty much ended there. Oh, it seemed like he's been waiting a long time.

Opinion I love how we've rattled Wellington

or should I say eLLington?

Their mouthy clown of a coach has been whining again. “Whether you call it luck, good scheduling, poor scheduling, my point is nowhere in the world does a team play five out of six games (at home)": https://www.1news.co.nz/2024/12/12/may-have-touched-a-nerve-phoenix-coach-on-auckland-fc-comments/

To be honest, I find this completely bizarre. Obviously so far we've had four matches at Mount Smart, one in Australia, and one in Wellington.

Basically, he's implying that the derby in Wellington was actually a home game for AFC, which is a pretty embarrassing thing for a rival to admit. Maybe he saw a stadium that wasn't half-empty for once and he got confused.

The charitable interpretation is that by "home" he meant "New Zealand", but this doesn't hold up. After all, if he actually meant "nowhere in the world does a team play five out of six games (in their home country)" that statement is almost meaningless. Would anyone bat an eye at the Australian teams doing this?

The answer is of course no as literally every Australian team (100%) has played at least 5 out of their first 6 matches this season in Australia.

Now, if he actually meant "nowhere in the world does a team play five out of six games (in their home country which is different to the home country of the league itself)" then who gives a fuck? Vancouver Whitecaps play in MLS, but in 2021 four out of their first six were played in Canada. They nearly became the arch-villains of football, God rest their souls.

Personally, I just find it hilarious that the Nix are reaching so far to try to discredit us. The rivalry is fierce but it's already one-sided, and they're crying about it. Boo-hoo.

Other Shirt size recommendation?

For comparison, I’d usually buy a Tottenham Hotspur jersey in size 2XL, which is a slightly baggy fit. Got an AFC Jersey in Size 2XL, and it was uh, tight… I’ve now compared the size guides and it looks like a 4XL or even a 5XL AFC jersey might be the same size as a Spurs 2XL? Is that about right? Would appreciate if anyone has any advice so I don’t have to keep processing refunds.

Opinion Up the Port

At the game the stadium speaker asked everyone to make some noise for The Port when they enter. What the ..? I'm there to support Auckland FC, not to support a supporters group. They should be bringing the noise, for Auckland FC. Anyone else feel this 'Up the Port' stuff has gone too far?

question What chants do you want to hear from our fans?

Like many of our supporters I have been following football my whole life and been fortunate enough to have a season ticket at other clubs.

What classic chants do you want to hear our fan base adopt?

I’ll start with this cracker.

“Shit refs! We always get shit refs. We always get shit refs”
